Another super supper at The New Inn, always something new and seasonal to try. The pork fillet stroganoff gets a special mention.

What a fantastic old pub that has been turned into a casual gastro pub with a relaxed, friendly manner. The main guy serving and who was front of house was very welcoming and had a great sense of humour that left you feeling that this was going to be a good place to eat. He served us our drinks and then proceeded to go through the menu and explaining the dishes intern. When the food arrived, we were pleasantly surprised as the meal was presented well, but the quality of produce rang through, especially as the produce was selected locally. We had a fabulous time, and there was so much food I could only eat a small amount of vegetables and chips. It's far better going away feeling you had your money's worth at the same time as having quality food. The one thing that I would recommend is to book early as there are limited spaces, which is a bonus as you are spread out feeling that you are in your own area. We booked a week in advance, and on the night, all the tables were booked. We were staying around the corner, so for once, we didn't need to think about driving, so unfortunately, I can't say if the pub had a car park or not, but there was off road parking. This place doesn't pretend to be fine dining, but it's at a price bracket to suit all, and as I have said, the quality comes with quantity. It was Mothering Sunday. We hadn't booked and only stopped because we were on our way to Cornwall. I popped my head around the door and asked if they could squeeze us and our little pug Edward onto a table. The Landlady said she could. The place was packed but the service was brilliant. I had a pint of Stag which was delicious and then had the Fish and Chips which was notable because the batter wasn't overly thick. Really succulent fish too. Wife had the goat burger which was a triumph. Super little place with a car park bordering a small holding so you can look at the chicken and ducks. Highly recommended and absolutely worth stopping at!

Best cheese and steak slice I’ve had for a long time

We loved the grounds and museums, but the tea room was really not at all good. Apart from being a very uninspiring space with not much atmosphere, I waited in a queue for over half an hour while three people behind the counter deliberated over one transaction, as I waited I watched as very quickly most of the menu was struck off, so it was down to sandwiches or a bowl of chilli con carne. I managed to get the last two! There seems to be a complete dumbing down of all the NT restaurants, just serving mediocre food. Come on NT you can and should be doing better!!

It’s just not managed very well at all. If you use it when it is quite then, it’s cheap and cheerful, but if there are more than 8 people in. They switch off the order stations to stop you ordering. A 45 minutes wait for fish finger wraps because 7 people had ordered before. Not a clue how to organize the kitchen, and generally a couldn’t care less attitude.
