Warm and welcoming hosts, excellent food and big portions. Had a lovely evening meal here whilst on holiday and would definitely recommend!

The go to place to have a meal if you’re in Barnstable. The food was incredible!! The ambience was perfect. Definitely recommend booking as it’s packed every night! Also brilliant gluten free options. Don’t hesitate to go for a wonderful meal.

What an amazing, welcoming pub! Food was stunning but the service was the highlight both Justin and Julia were so warm and attentive that you feel as if you already know them. Thank you so much we couldn’t recommend this place more. If your coming from Coombe farm it’s well worth the dark and muddy walk through the woods!

A fantastic meal. The epitome of the "gastropub" experience. Wonderful selection on the menu, beautifully prepared and presented, in a cozy village pub. Lamb chops for her, local and cooked to perfection, smoked hake in a casserole on a bed of leeks for me, just delicious. It's small; book ahead!

Found this gem locally whilst camping, the host was very accommodating, attentive and polite, the food was fantastic and the portions generous. Had a lovely pleasant atmosphere. Will 100% be returning!

My daughter took me here for my birthday and it was perfect. The menu had a wide range of food, and it all sounded delicious. I will definitely be coming back to try the rest. The landlord knew the menu really well and was able to cater for my daughter who doesn’t eat dairy. I loved it!

Amazing venue - so good we went back in the same week. An incredible selection of dishes, with unique creative twists. Locally-sourced produce, generous portions, carefully prepared, and served with a smile. Would definitely recommend the New Inn, Goodleigh, to anyone travelling in the area. Be sure to book in advance as it fills up quickly!

A pub quiz was scheduled so we were unable to sit for a drink. Unless you are a quizzer, Sunday nights were off limits unfortunately. Have since been back and had a cosy evening.

Having been going to the New Inn for a number of years I was very disappointed with my main course of Chicken and Leak Pie tonight it was brought to the table with a burnt topped pastry and on the inside of the pie bottom also black and burnt, very disappointing having had so many brilliant meals over the years this was not at all how we expected from one of our favourite pubs. When we came to pay for our meal there was no mention of an apology or a price reduction, we are booked in again on Saturday evening but unsure if we made the right choice.

An amazing local pub/restaurant. We could not recommend more!! Justin & Julia are the best hosts, making us feel so welcome every time we go there. The food is top quality, the mackerel pate and choux buns are our family favourites.

Very homely pub. Food was very good - we had the chicken pie and hake with garlic spinach topping. The profiterole we had for dessert was perfect too. We will certainly come back.

No frills little pub but the food is absolutely amazing all homemade and very generous portions . Could not fault it , you could tell the landlord and landlady take a real pride in their work. Brilliant!

Wonderful dining experience, as soon as we entered Justin couldn't have been more welcoming, great wine selection great beers, he explained the handwritten menu to us in detail, everything is home cooked and it's really difficult to choose as it all sounds delicious. The dessert menu didn't disappoint either with the sticky toffee apple crumble a hit with my husband. I had the most citrusy lemon posset served with a buttery homemade shortbread biscuit. We only wished we lived nearer as it would be top of our list for dining.

The New Inn is our favourite place to eat in the Barnstaple area. The food is incredible, cooked to perfection with locally sourced produce. Justin and Julia are perfect hosts, making customers feel welcomed and very well looked after. The choux bun dessert is an absolute must but make sure you leave some space and plan a nice long walk the next day!

Had a warm welcome & talked through in detail the menu which was plentiful we had starters & mains & food was delicious large portions & piping hot - we really enjoyed our night & highly recommend a visit here.

A party of nine visited this little gem of a restaurant based on a local recommendation. A wide range of excellent home cooked food, served with a smile. Nothing was to much trouble. An excellent evening all round.

This is a treasure of a place - I almost don't want to tell you! Clearly, the landlord(s) are devoted to offering excellent food, beautifully done, great value and service. We were in Barnstaple for sad reasons, but our meal here, on the evening of a sad day was just perfect. Highly recommend.

A fantastic local pub and restaurant. Friendly staff. Excellent food. Visited with a family group of 7 and everyone's needs.were catered for from my 4 year old nephew to me as a 55 year.old Coeliac with specific dietary needs. When asked about gluten free options I found that practically 95% of the menu was either gluten free or could be adjusted to cater for me. Fair prices for the portions and quality food cooked with great skill. Puddings were amazing too. Highly recommended!

Lovely place. Good banter and a solid menu. Had Cod with Pesto however the Wife's Turkish carrots were probably the highlight. Would definitely return. Liked the way the Owners/Staff explained the menu. Carpark however a little tight to get into for those of a nervous disposition.😁

This place was raved about by our AirBnB host and rightly so! After a long day of walking, the varied menu, fantastic service (including a personalised walking through the menu!) and great wine was exactly what we needed! Dessert was phenomenal also! Highly recommend!

Just had the most wonderful meal tonight. The menu selection was amazing and we were all spoilt for choice. There were so many tasty dishes to try and all locally sourced. The customer service and the attention we received was excellent. Cosy setting for a nice dinner.

Lovely cosy pub. Very pleasant staff. Food is excellent with a really good range to choose from. I had a tough job deciding what to have...so many tempting dishes . We both really enjoyed our meal, but would say that the creme brulèe with cranberries and white chocolate was to die for!!!! If we hadn't been so full we would have both had another one lol.

We went as a party of 14, I cannot fault them. The staff were very friendly, they rearranged half of the restaurant to accommodate us and they opened up especially early for us. Unfortunately, as a group we had nearly every food intolerance covered, however the chef was again incredibly accommodating and explained exactly what was in each of the options on the menu. The food was fantastic and very very tasty. I would highly recommend the New Inn.

Excellent choice of a wide variety of meals, all special and different from standard fare, beautifully cooked and presented. Friendly, helpful staff and a relaxed atmosphere. You won't leave hungry.

Great atmosphere from the first moment you walk in the door. The starters and mains were a good size and excellent tastes did we need a pudding..... No..... but then they came out and explained what they had on offer and WOW a pub with a decent selection.. Well done to the complete team we will definitely be coming back again.

Wow!! This place is absolutely stunning! The owners, Justin & Julia, really were excellent hosts, super friendly & very accommodating. The food was heavenly & all homemade too. This was the final dinner we had on our holiday in Devon & you really couldn't wish for more. Baked camembert, creamy garlic mushrooms, steak & kidney pie, fresh cod with a prawn curry & rabbit in cider.....not to mention the desserts! All dishes were to die for!! Do make sure you book, as you won't want to miss out! Absolutely idyllic & one of the best restaurants we have visited! Worth all 5 stars & then some!!

We called at 2.30pm and sadly nobody answered to take the reservation so ended up booking somewhere else. After the alternative option had turned out to be not-so-ideal we again tried to get through to The New Inn and were fortunate enough to get a table. Our evening then took a dramatic turn for the better. Justin and Julia were the most perfect hosts and so welcoming. We were seated at a lovely, cosy table, they explained the extensive menu in great detail and were attentive to our every need. We had the Turkish carrots to begin (these were simply sublime), then a special of the Hake and the rabbit (so delicious and accompanied with chips, potatoes and plenty of veg- all cooked to perfection!). For dessert we had honeycomb ice cream which was again super tasty and a huge portion! Fantastic meal, lovely environment and the perfect hosts. Wish we were staying in the area longer to return to try other dishes!! Cannot recommend enough. Thanks for a perfect evening ❤

Went here for a meeting and was very impressed with both the quality and quantity of the food! I chose the Woodland Pie which was a delicious venison pie packed full of chunky tender meat and the Lemon Posset which was blimmin lovely with a big slice of warm sugary shortbread. The chips and veg came in huge bowls, more than enough for anyone. Would definitely visit again. A hidden gem!

Absolute gem of a place. We come here every year when we come to Devon on holiday. The food is fantastic, without doubt the best pub food I have had anywhere. The menu has a great variety of meals. The service is exceptional and the portions are generous. If you are in North Devon you have to eat here!!!

The best place to eat in north Devon. The menu is explained to you with passion and when it arrives you WILL NOT be dissapointed. Generous portions and beautifully cooked. Fabulous restaurant with home cooked food. It is small and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. We ate there twice during a week stay in the area. You will need to book. Thank you for your hospitality Justin and Julia and like we said if you move to Worcestershire let us know :)

Excellent selection of food ( especially game and fish ), deffinately not a run of the mill pub. Havnt been for some time due to Covid, but as good as ever. Proper family run business offering excellent food and service without being over priced. Well worth a visit, but book early as always busy

Absolutely first class every thing was brilliant my partner and I thought it was the best meal we had. While being in North Devon there was nothing to compare to it I wish I lived nearer I'd be in there always

100% first class experience. Seeking and getting information with regards to accessibility was done with an understanding going beyond customer service. The food was perfectly cooked and served to table piping hot and plentiful. The king prawn starter, the lamb chops main and the homemade honeycomb ice cream would grace any table. Absolutely delicious food, environment safe and owners very friendly. I have multiple food allergies and great care was taken with taking my order and adapting the cooking. All of us had a fantastic time, were all made to feel very special and I can confirm that, as expected, I had no adverse reaction to anything I had. Strongly recommend the New Inn at Goodleigh.
