I went into Tesco extra cafe at about 2.15 pm today. Having been waiting for about ten minutes in a queue at the cafe counter waiting while the man behind the counter served a group of people with coffees cakes etc, I then ordered a meal only to be told that all cooked food was sold out, if this is the case why keep me waiting for ten minutes, when all they have to do is put a notice on the food board menu which is at the entrance of the cafe.

Tesco's newly refurbished cafe is light, spacious and well designed. I was met with a huge smile and warm greeting by Heidi. I sat at a table not too far from the counter and all I could hear was Heidi's upbeat tempo as she greeted each customer with professionalism, courtesy and warmth. I feel Heidi is an asset to Tesco and should be recognised as such.

Staff have no consideration for customers, leave you standing at the till waiting to order while they clean tables, anything you ask seems to be too much and not very friendly in the slightest. Staff avoid eye contact with you and seem to have an attitude before you’ve even spoken to them. Food is average, nothing to rave about. Would avoid like the plague if ever in the area again, this cafe has really let tesco down!

Very sad to visit this cafe when clearly the staff have no regard for customers! Twenty past four we were told that we could only have a drink in a takeaway cup as they were closing( @5:00). Cake all covered over. As we were sat the table, the manager( poor description as he clearly had no management skills) hovered around with cleaning spray and cloth! Very poor service we won't be going here ever again. Shame as this was always a stop when shopping! Very rudely he told us," you get more coffee in a takeaway cup" when I questioned the reasoning for takeaway cup to justify it

It would be hard to find another cafe that had gone down hill so fast. New manager Chris completely useless and not a clue of what customers want, and seems like no desire to carry on the work of the previous manager who made it a very pleasant place to visit which had lovely staff. You go in now and the place is like as if it's closing down. Very rare to find someone behind the counter... someone comes eventually... if you're lucky.. on a good day.. No sandwiches available or anything on the counter, and will not do you a toasted sandwich 'if the breakfast menu is running'. One day we were told no fried eggs, but you can have scrambled. Ahhh it must be different eggs for fried then I reckon. But it turns out the griddle was knackered. No frying pan then chaps? About 50 feet away on the same floor you can buy a frying pan for next to nothing if you really wanted to keep customers happy. We did get scrambled egg though, and it would have been fine if you were making a rubber arena for horses. Had to visit the store today so being brave we've chanced it again.. no better though. Wait to be served. Place like a ghost town. Food not hot enough. Cheap crappy sausages. Generous on the butter though so I'll give you half a point! Bradley nice enough but the burning question is... WHERE ARE ALL THE FRIENDLY LADIES GONE??!! Given the push for this modern side the customer approach? Or legged it fast when they saw what a crap set up it was set to become? Whatever the reason, well done for ruining the great friendly atmosphere. You haven't got what it takes!!

After waiting 45 minutes for 2 sausage baps .Couldn’t wait any longer told the manager we would return next day for them.upon returning next day the manager (Chris) attitude was I will let you have the baps this time but will not let it happen again.Even though we had the reciept. This man tried to show us up in front of other customers He lacks public relations and needs a lesson in manners. we asked for our money back.Which he refunded. After this we walked out. We use to be regular customers there and spent in excess of £15.00 per visit but will not be going again. Sad person

Very poor service from the manager Chris, very rude argumentative for a poor service which he denied. Confronting us in front of other customers and colleagues. Absolutely shocked with the level of service I received tonight from a lady called Helen with Grey hair working at Barnstaple Tesco extra store. When placing my things on the conveyer belt she didn’t even acknowledge me and say hello, or try and engage in a friendly conversation or any small talk, she was chatting to her colleague behind her and acting as if I wasn’t even there. On top of that she was super slow to the point I had to grab things out of her hand and she even stopped scanning at one point to continue to chat the guy behind her!! She Didn’t ask if I needed any bags or if I had a club card and didn’t tell me how much my shopping was either. How she managed to get the job I don’t know?! I’m not surprised there’s angry shoppers about, receiving sh**ty service like that is enough to put anyone in a bad mood. I’ve met children friendlier than her. Sort it out. Give her some customer service training and teach her some manners.

Definitely the cleanest supermarket cafe I've visited ...including the trays. When I popped in there wasn't a queue but the wait was long as there was only 2 members of staff which was very very odd, because logically if one is serving and one is cooking of course there's no-one to wash tables, collect and clear the dirty cutlery, wash and dry - in the time of COVID and at LUNCH TIME which of course would be one of the busiest time of the day. That being said the wait was worth it and the ladies that were working was absolutely delightful , friendly, and served everyone with a smile. Would I recommend? yes absolutely even with the ridiculous wait time :-)

Used this store and cafe most days during our four day stay in Barnstaple. Covid precautions in place and well laid out. However on one visit we were sat waiting for our breakfast when one couple walked in the wrong way and sat down at a table for four. The couple were rightly asked to move to a table for two of which there were plenty available. At this point the man got a bit agitated and loud clearly causing a scene with the lovely waitress. The cafe supervisor then came out to tell the man to calm down and not to be rude to the staff member. The couple then left. I was impressed with how they handled the situation. There is always one. Oh and the food was good at a good price

My grand daughter and myself had the misfortune to call in for an all day breakfast and now realise that the main reason it is called an all day breakfast is because that is how long you have to wait before you get it!..The Cafe wasn't busy and we found ourselves waiting for 3/4 of an hour for our two breakfasts, we were lucky an older couple waited an hour and 10 minuets for their meals... once we finally recieved our breakfast it was early afternoon and it truely wasn't worth the wait, the egg was over cooked and the fried bread had enough oil in it to fry another 2 slices, it was quite liturally dripping ... it was appalling, quite honestly the most inedible dissapointing breakfast ever

Visited here for a quick after school dinner with my two kids. For starters they had hardy any of the food on the menu. We went through 4/5 items before they finally had something. I paid and we sat and waited, only to be told they didn’t have what my son wanted. We were told it was a busy lunchtime so they had run out of stock (why?). Food arrived and the portion were tiny. The adult macaroni and cheese was probably about two table spoons worth of pasta, children’s food tiny portions too. Overall I wouldn’t come back in a hurry, which is a shame!

We often stay in the Premier inn at Baram gate and think that the breakfasts there are over priced - Continental breakfast is £7.95 and all my wife wanted was a slice of toast! Full English is a couple of pounds dearer, but the food is pre-cooked and kept in bain maries. So over the road to the large Tesco store café is our preferred option, where you order your choice and it is cook for you there and then and brought to your table. No more rubbery fried eggs and a few quid cheaper too

While we where ordering our hot food the cashier let 5 other people go in front of us. When we finally paid our food was cold. The only person that look liked they knew what they where doing was a lady and she seemed like it was her first day. This experience was an absolute joke. Not happy.

Staying at nearby Premier Inn but decided to have breakfast at Tesco. Food served from the counter, assistant had to put mine and my friends to one side while the eggs were fried. She should have waited for eggs to be done before serving up the food. Told us she would bring it over to our table when the eggs were done. Paid for it, got cup of tea and sat down. Breakfast came straight after, it looked ok, but it was cold! Also noticed that assistant serving up the food was also on the till, is this hygienic, handling money and serving food and leaving food on plates on counter while waiting for the eggs to be done? Very disappointed.Wish we had gone to the Premier Inn!

I can't understand when people go to a supermarket for breakfast, and expect amazing quality? I expect an average, breakfast, more than likely serviced from food waiting on a hot plate- which is exactly what you get.mif you don't want that, I suggest eating elsewhere. If you want a rasonably priced, reasonable quality breakfast, then I have not been disappointed with this. The addition of a costa coffee makes it that little better, but I will return as it is easy, cheap food which is great if you don't have time

Went to Tesco cafe for a cheap n cheerful meal with my teens. It was about 1.45 and there were very few people in there. There didn't seem to be any sort of menu, but my son saw a sign for an all day breakfast. The server told us that it would be about 20 minutes (no idea why as all the breakfast items were in front of us on a hot plate). We decided we'd ask the server what else was available when she'd finished making a bacon sandwich (I could have done a full English for a whole family in the time it took her to do this). Unfortunately she took so long that we'd lost the will to live - luckily a helpful lady in the queue pointed us in the direction of St Johns Garden Centre which was delicious with good service. Don't know why Tesco bothered keeping this cafe open when no one actually wanted to serve us any food.

I have visited 3 times for the All Day Breakfast only to be told they don't have it. So is an "all day breakfast" available all day or is it a "sometimes we have it all day breakfast" or even a "I can't be bothered to serve breakfast all day breakfast". Why do I go back? Because I'm daft and I'm determined to get an All Day Breakfast sometime, anytime of the day.
