Keep an eye out for the sign to the village shop from the main road near exmoor zoo! Here you can get all the essentials, plus home cooked frozen dinners. It has a little tea shop for eating in, and serves meals into the early evening. A definite gem with a decent-sized car park attached. And this evening the travelling wood-baked pizzeria arrived too!

This image is the old shop. It has moved a little further up into a porter cabin. It has parking and the usual bits and bobs for a small village shop. It also has pies, pasties etc. A collect plus site.

For a local shop this is Fantastic. They really do have a little bit of everything. Freshly made lunches, frozen ready meals, chocolates, sweets, wine, beer, household items, toiletries, papers, baked goods and local produce. Always a friendly face and a cheery chat with the staff too. A true 'local shop'.

Our journey home from our holiday in Mousehole was well underway and we needed a break and a bite to eat. We had decided to take the more leisurely north Cornwall route home, and were travelling cross-country on minor roads towards Exmoor. We looked for a pub, but we couldn’t find one open in the countryside just north of Barnstaple. We pushed-on and arrived at this attractive village expecting to find a pub. There was a pub but it was closed; and had been for 10 years! There was, however, a village shop. So, we ventured-in, in the expectation of finding some water and, we dared to hope, a sandwich. What we found exceeded expectations. There was an array of simple but appetizing fare – small pies, sausage rolls, pasties and the like. More expectations were exceeded when we were told we could eat at tables inside this shop, that any of the above items could be heated, and sauce could be provided including HP brown sauce! We couldn’t believe our luck, which continued as the steak pasties were very good and satisfied our tastebuds, and our rumbling tummies. A drink of cold Rio fruit juice (with no added sugar) was very refreshing. The lady storekeeper was extremely helpful and pleasant. We learned of the demise of the local pub from this lady.

Traditional pasty was traditional in the sense that it was like something produced by Birds Eye in the 1970's 😬

We live in an area with a lot of village stores. This place is not great. If you have run out of anything its OK for that. The bacon I bought had more water than meat! No bread, no veg, not much choice of anything really. The lady who served us was nice.

Called in on our arrival to Bratton Fleming. What pleasant and very friendly people they both were. It was well stocked for a small village shop with our basic needs and their cornish pasties were surprisingly good . Well done to them and good luck for the future

Wonderful selection of pies, pasties and freshly made hot or cold sandwiches to take away or eat in. Lovely people running the shop/cafè and the service was excellent too. At Last, after 58 years on this planet I have just given my first 10/10 for a pizza! I know shock. Ok it’s a wet Tuesday in October, it’s our 31st wedding Anniversary and I see this pizza place in the corner of my eye as we drive through braunton on our way to our holiday cottage in croyde. Give it a go I thought. Arrived at 5 when they opened. We were the only ones in..hmmmm I thought, but a fabulous welcome from a very lovely guy who makes us feel very welcome. Buys us an Anniversary drink (nice touch and thank you) I couldn’t decide what to go for. So I made up my own pizza. One half pesto based with fresh basil and the other half traditional margherita with mushrooms and olives. My hubby went for margherita with olives. Both asked for it to be well done as we like a crispy base. It arrived and the first mouthful was heaven. Cooked to perfection. Bit of crunch, bit fluffed up edges, so a little extra crunch there. Fresh as fresh and gorgeous ton]nato sauce with a gooey right amount of cheese. Topped with fresh basil. I thought the two halves would ‘bleed’ into each other, but hats off to the chef, he pulled it off. Then the pesto was fresh and zingy and I couldn’t work out which half I preferred. Both equally delicious. So a 10 out of 10 was given to the amazing chef who produced this miraculous pizza. This is just a pizza I hear you cry….NO, this was the food of gods! Simple food, cooked to perfection. Go there. EAT. Die happy! At last a proper pizza to write about. Great guys and a joyful atmosphere, more people rocked up as we dined. Asked about opening as it starts at 5pm, but looks like will change later in the year. So take the kids after school. Great alcohol free beer and coke. With the free anniversary drink and tip it came to £30. Best £30 I’ve ever spent in a restaurant. Thank you for making our Anniversry one to remember! 😄

The restaurant is centrally located. It is expensive (London prices). The service was excellent and a nice friendly waiter. We were the only ones in the restaurant so quick service. The meals were served piping hot. Wine was not chilled enough. It is a bit like a canteen as paper serviettes and old cutlery.
