Booked for a meal with friends who were visiting after seeing other reviews and we weren’t disappointed. From start to finish the whole experience was perfect. The waiting staff were friendly and chatty and offered advice on food and wine combinations which was excellent. The food was beautiful as well and all of us were extremely happy. It was our first visit but definitely won’t be our last.

Discovered this place for take-away when the pandemic put a stop to eating in, been wanting to try it as a restaurant since then. Finally had the chance this holiday, wished we’d found it years ago. Wonderful authentic Italian food, excellent value, credit to chef who was happy to do something off menu despite being very busy on Easter Sunday. Couldn’t have been made to feel more welcome, even though we got our reservation time wrong and turned up late for which we are still truly sorry!

We have been before a few years ago and we were staying in the area again on holiday so we booked a table with our two young children. Great atmosphere, fantastic food and lovely friendly staff. Our favourite place to eat in Devon.

Ate here while on holiday in the area. Thankfully we had booked because it’s definitely very popular. Food was really nice, staff very friendly. I would definitely go back if in the area again!

Great food and great service. Waiter saved the last portion of mussles for my son which was nice. Food was tastyand fresh. They have specials too. 04 starters, 2 mains, 1 dessert, 1 coffee and bottle of wine about £120. Reasonable price for the food and service. If in the area definitely worth a try. May need to book at busy times.

Lovely Italian restaurant which is evidently popular with locals. Extensive menu with pastas, pizzas etc and a decent wine list (would recommend the Falanghina if you are looking for a delicious white). Very friendly and attentive staff. Would book ahead because it was quite busy on a Sunday evening in the off season.

Although we are infrequent visitors to Ilfracombe, we are always welcomed as old friends to once again enjoy the excellent good and service here. Many thanks to all the wonderful people that make Giovanni and Luca such a great place to enjoy good food and company.

Little gem of a place! Came for the theatre and was looking for a quick meal beforehand, hadn’t booked and they happily accommodated us - a family of 4. Stayed for all 3 courses in the end! Everything was delicious! Empty plates all round. Italy is one of my favourite countries to visit and this was genuinely like being there for 2 hours. I really wanted to keep it to myself, but I think it’s been discovered by many now, judging by the other great reviews on here, so thought I’d add to them. I shall be booking ahead next time, I think we got lucky tonight. definitely one to return to! Many thanks :)

My wife and I had a day off without the kids so decided to go to Giovanni and luca. They did not disapoint!! We were greeted by David who was very polite and cheerful and brought us over some menus. The food was absolutely outstanding!!! The setting was lovely and made you feel as if you were getting a real home cooked italian meal!! The desert I ordered was a Sbriciolata which is a crumble cake with ice cream..... trust me you will never have a dessert as good as this!!! I can't wait for our next visit. assolutamente fantastico

Tasty food awaits you when you visit GLOVANNI & LUCA ITALIAN RESTARAUNT. We visited while on a spring break and ordered mains from the extensive menu choices. Food was served reasonably quickly and lived up to our expectations in taste. Food was served not quite hot enough but okay. Sauces were especially good. It would have been nice to be served with warm baked bread as part of the experience but we would have had to pay £4 for it!

Was a warm and welcoming place. Staff were wonderful. Very accommodating to our dietary requirements and for my 2 year old nephew who would not sit still! Food was very tasty also. I highly recommend this place.

Being a big fan of Italian food this restaurant was on my must do list while we were here an Italian restaurant owned by an Italian family serving good quality home made Italian food ticks all the boxes for me! Wide variety of choice on the menu good wine list friendly staff excellent service be sure to pre book because it is always full which is a good sign go there you won't be disappointed.

A trip to Ilfracombe for a few days but I have been to this restaurant for twice already. The first time for lunch and second time for dinner. This is truly an Italian restaurant, all the dishes are cooked nicely and fantastically. The sauces of the seafood are very delicious, the whitebait are deep fried nicely and the pastas are al dante. The service are very friendly and surely will come back for it!

It's an authentic Italian restaurant with very welcoming and friendly staff who went out of their way to accommodate our requirements re. Gluten free etc. We were surprised to find it full on a Tuesday night in February so we weren't alone in recognising that the staff would deliver an excellent evening out.

Didn’t book as only came for one night stay to see Troy Hawke at the theatre. Restaurant was fully booked but the owner and staff rushed us through super quick on a reserved table and in time so we wouldn’t miss the show. Superb food, attentive service and genuine passion and pride in their hospitality. We will be back!

This charming Italian restaurant boasts a warm, authentic Italian ambiance. Despite it being a Thursday evening, the restaurant was quite busy. The menu offered a delightful array of vegetarian options, and the food was simply delicious. To top it off, all their desserts are homemade and follow traditional Italian recipes (made by the staff). Loved our dinner and would come back anytime when in the area.

What a find! Me and my partner visited his mum for the weekend and we went to this amazing restaurant down the hill for a birthday meal! The staff was so friendly helpful and you can tell they enjoy what they do. The menus had a lot to chews from some think for everyone, I couldn’t pic what I wonted as the food being taken to other tables look so delicious. The lady that was serving us was so helpful with recommending me something And the food didn’t disappoint it tasted fresh and full of flavour! Amazing place I can’t wait to go back when we visit next month

I do not bother leaving reviews with TA much these days but felt that I must make the effort on this occasion. We have visited G&L's a few times over the years and it has never disappointed - which is a huge accolade in itself....

Everything about this restaurant is great. Really good italian food served by lovely people who make you feel welcome. The bottle of Falanghina was yummy, so if that one bottle is anything to go by then you can trust the wine list too! We will be back for sure.

We first found this restaurant many years ago and have never had a bad experience there since. The food is first class and , even though we are only able to visit once a year, the staff always seem to remember us and make a point of having a chat. Being boring I have the same food every time and have never been disappointed. It is a fantastic place to eat but make sure you make a reservation as it's always busy! And , by the way, as you'd expect they are Ferrari fans as well :)

Can't be beat for authentic Italian cuisine. I've been to the Barnstaple restaurant and this is just as good. The service is fantastic, and the desserts are just as good as the mains.

Service was perfect, de bediening was super aardig en ze kwamen altijd op het juiste moment langs. Als voorgerecht hadden we de caprese en brood. En het was erg lekker. Als hoofdgerecht hadden we spaghetti’s, kip in gorgonzola saus en een pizza margarita. Het smaakte uitstekend. De tiramisu is ook erg lekker. De prijs kwaliteit verhouding is top, je krijgt waar voor je geld. Enige puntje is dat je wel echt moet reserveren wat ze zitten bijna altijd vol.
