Nice Italian restaurant. Visited after staying nearby and finding on TripAdvisor. Walk in but managed to accommodate us, food was nice and service was friendly. Would recommend.

Devon ( Ilfracombe). An Italian restaurant, you must make a reservation at least a day in advance. Excellent food, generous service. A real experience, highly recommend. I ordered lasagna, the food arrives very hot with red sauce + and chameleon. Wow!. Se debe reservar mesa uno o mas dias de anticipacion pero vale la pena. La cocina es de alta jerarquia. Es un de los pocos restaurantes que disfrute y quisiera volver. Pedi lazania, viend con salsa roja y blanca. Una delicia que recomiendo.

Booked a table and week in advance for a family of 10. Had to pre order a few days in advance which was quite strange as didn't have to pay a deposit. Great food and everyone was happy - fair price. Mixture of steaks, pasta and veal. Only downside was that the service was almost too quick because of the pre order. Would return.

Best place for dinner in the whole town. Visited 2 nights running and was not disappointed. Staff are fabulous and the food was to match. Cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. Will definitely come again.

We moved to Ilfracombe last year and visited this restaurant for the first time when we had friends staying as several locals and neighbours had recommended it. The food was fabulous and excellent value for money. We had a great bottle of wine at a good price. The staff were friendly and welcoming and we will definitely be back.

We were visiting ilfracombe for the weekend and heard great things! We absolutely loved our experience, especially it being a traditional italian, staff were super friendly we felt so welcomed and the food was absolutely delightful! We wish we were hungrier to try more! Highly reccomend.

We luckily were able to get a table for two last minute on a Friday night to be met with welcoming staff and a vibrant atmosphere. The food and service were outstanding, will definitely come again.

I cannot recommend Giovani’s enough for anyone staying in or around illfracombe- We reserved a table for 8 and it was well presented when we arrived, and all the staff were extremely attentive and friendly. The lady who served us explained the history of the restaurant and what her recommendations were- which really added the touch to our experience. Each member of our table thoroughly enjoyed our meals, and the desert menu was delicious. I’d highly recommend the vanilla crumble cake- the server also told us that these were all homemade by herself! Truly an impressive, and well thought out dining experience and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you, Giovanis!

Found this place by accident as was staying overnight in illfracombe wow what a find. Was welcomed by lovely couple who made us feel welcome. The food was amazing and sooo fresh. The restaurant is small but cosy. Best garlic bread ever. 5 stars for food and service.

An excellent meal as always. There were ten of us and the service was great which is difficult with a larger group of people. I had a three course meal for under £30 which can't be bad. Whitebait, pasta with a mushroom sauce and homemade coffee ice cream, all of which I can recommend.

A lovely relaxed place to eat. We were going to the theatre and they made sure our food was presented in plenty of time. The food was authentic, tasty and plentiful and served with a sense of humour. We will go back when the opportunity arises.

What an absolute gem of an authentic Italian restaurant this is. We were lucky enough to find this place and even luckier to walk in and get a table without a reservation when the restaurant was already busy and buzzing with diners. The large menu has something for everybody. Pasta, Pizza, Risotto, Fish, Chicken, Veal and Steak dishes. I would love to come back every day to try it all. The food is absolutely fantastic, as is the wine and the service too. If in Ilfracombe this place is a must go to.

Lovely central setting in ilfracombe. Staff good and ambience relaxing. Food extremely good. A good mix of seafood and Italian offerings. Need to book. Independent business which makes it feel very welcoming.

What can I say about this place that hasn't already been said. It was one of the best restaurants in ilfracombe. Came to ilfracombe for a couple of nights always like an Italian. Saw reviews good so we booked before coming down. Seafood spaghetti was ok not alot of fish in it but tasted nice . Husband had calzone which was meat free he thought it ok but not wow Place was friendly and very busy which says alot . If we were near again we would pop in

Dissappointed after reading all the great reviews. Pizza was flat with no rise in the dough at all. Risotto was good but no more. Wine good but expensive. As opposed to other reviews it didn't feel authentic at all to us. But hey ho each to their own..

Couldn't get in on our first attempt, so I had to book for the following evening. The food was excellent, as was the service. It is not expensive and has a lovely atmosphere. Would highly recommend and will definitely be paying another visit the next time we're in Ilfracombe.

Had take away for 2 nights in a row while visiting Ilfracombe. Both times, the food was genuinely excellent - especially the Melanzane Alla Parmigiana - yummy! Highly recommend for some authentic and delicious Italian food.

THE best place to eat in Ilfracombe!! Forget fish and chips and Cornish pasties if you want quality and value for money THIS is the place for lunch or dinner. The service was excellent, the staff helpful and cheerful, and the food out of this world. A little place of Italy here!! Thank you and hopefully see you soon!!

This is our second visit to G&L and on both occasions (a lunchtime and an evening meal) the restaurant was very busy. Due to the popularity we could only have our table for two hours, which was fine for us. The staff were friendly and helpful and the service was good. The four of us ordered a variety of dishes off the menu and we all enjoyed what we had chosen. We will definitely return on another occasion.

This is an absolute favourite! Never fails to deliver, with lots of choices and super home made dishes. Family approach but equally about food and the whole culture of enjoying good food!

Absolutely delicious!! Authentic and an Italian treat in Devon! We went while on holiday as a family of 4 and both children devoured their pizza they shared. I loved my mushroom tagliatelle and my husband thought the chilli oil was incredible with his delicious pizza! Not to be missed! Service, atmosphere and food was all incredible.

I have been here couple of times with family and had take away twice as often (It is not easy to get table) and all visits and all time we took food home, it was simply amazing . In regards to visits, it is always a pleasure to be there and experience everything. It is like everyone who works there and cooks there do everything the way they would like to be treated. Word perfection does not give this place justice. I highly recommend and will visit and order as often as I can and as often I am in Ilfracombe.

Dropped in without a booking and the team found us an early table. The traditional Italian food was delicious and authentic. Very friendly staff who made our visit enjoyable.

We hadn't reserved a place and found the place was fully booked . Staff were very helpful and squeezed us in an hour later . Well, the wait was worth it. the food was amazing . There is plenty of choice and excellent taste . Loved the parmasan grater and the black pepper grinder . The place had a lovely atmosphere and the staff made it very friendly to be there . 10/10 , a place to go .

Great Italian restaurant. A “must” if you come to Ilfracombe. The food is proudly cooked maintaining an Italian character. Giovanni and his wife, Donatella, are both charming and run this establishment with commitment and dedication. We dined here two nights in a row, both nights the restaurant was packed, so don’t forget to book in advance. 😅

Italian haute cuisine. This is the best Italian restaurant in the country. Simply the best. To say this is a traditional Italian undermines its sheer class. Every item on the menu (and we have eaten our way through most of it) is prepared with pure Italian passion . More more more... Ps and the espresso martinis are the best 👌

We had four different mains, everyone of them absolutely delicious, we all tried a bit of each other's. The owner's and staff could not have been more welcoming, friendly and professional, considering we didn't book beforehand. We all also highly recommend the amoretti trifle for desert, it was to die for. We will definitely return this restaurant on our next holiday in Ilfracombe, and wish to thank all the staff that made my birthday that little bit extra special.

Absolutely fabulous Italian family run restaurant. I would strongly recommend making a reservation well in advance to avoid disappointment. We ate here twice during our four nights stay in Ilfracombe. We called by during the day to check on availability and they squeezed us in for an early dinner. The menu is really wide and extensive and everything is freshly cooked. Authentic Italian cuisine. The food was absolutely delicious. Before we left we made another reservation for our last night. There is free car parking (after 6pm), just along on the sea front. We enjoyed our meals on both nights and would highly recommend Giovanni’s & Luca’s … it has to be the best place to eat in the town in our opinion. All the staff were so friendly and welcoming and they really wanted you to enjoy your dining experience with them. Truly absolutely fabulous!

Great atmosphere and equally matched by superb tasting food. I have worked in pizza restaurants for a decade when studying and have eaten a fair few pizzas. I can honestly say this is the best pizza I have ever eaten. The dough is tasty and light and so fresh. My partner chose to have a spicy pizza with extra chillies and was delighted when a dish of chillies in oil was brought just for him to spice it up as much as he wanted. And then dessert. How could we resist home made tiramisu or amaretto trifle? All were delicious. Worth every penny and highly recommended. Might be best to book to ensure of a table.

Can I be Frank. The food is pre cooked. Not frozen but refrigerated. Hence it is not fresh was told things where prepped the day before. In all my time at Italian restaurants bearing in mind I work at a highly regarded restaurant in the West midlands where we make everything to order to a high standard, have I eaten sure a poor lasagne. The meat was clumpy and bitty and not moist and fresh. It also took 8 mins to come out - in my world that means they used Chef Mic. But either way they had ample time to prepare a fresh lasagne even if the pasta sheets where pre made which is to be expected. Poor to be honest and for them to get so enraged and loud taking into account the restaurant was busy and I was asking for then to keep it quiet as I was just making a true statement they all came over 4 of them and contined to shout and state there food is no frozen etc. I wouldn't reccomend personally but each to their own this was just my experiance.

Fabulous atmosphere at this beautiful Italian restaurant perfect for the whole family excellent food and service great value for money when we’re in Ilfracoombe we never miss took our 4 year old grandsons tonight nothing was too much trouble they all made such a fuss of us all would highly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The only Italian restaurant in Ilfracombe and absolutely top notch, with a great selection of all you usually expect. The service was very good and the food was magnificent. It's quite busy, so book a day or two ahead.

Went here for lunch with my wife and daughter a few weeks back on a day trip to Ilfracombe because we had been here a couple of times around 14 years ago and was really good quality then. Needless to say that it is still excellent quality at reasonable prices. The owners are very hospitable and as it turned out they had just taken it over on our previous visits. I would highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to revisiting, but I will not wait another 14 years 😉

A lovely warm welcome as usual, from everyone at this family run Italian restaurant this evening. Over the last few years it's become an essential part of our Ilfracombe visits. Last night we had such a good evening. Great food, all staff are warm and friendly, and we started chatting a little bit about recipes and ingredients, it's clear there is such passion there. Ilfracombe you are lucky to have Giovanni and Luca on your doorstep. We certainly wish they were in our home town.
