Dinner was absolutely fabulous fresh local food in season perfectly cooked and served. The asparagus starter, the duck and the rhubarb desert were all to die for! If you’re up there while these are still on the menu, then do try them you won’t be disappointed. Coffees and lunches are also good, but the dinner was the real highlight.

Visited on a Monday evening when the pub kitchen was closed. There is a Pizza van serving locals by the pub's invitation on Monday and Tuesday evenings. These are run into the pub once ordered if you are drinking in the pub. There is a small range of pizzas available from the basic Margherita upto the Djuna (spicy pork sausage). I had this and it was nice and spicy with tender broccoli as an additional topping. I would say it was well priced at £12 - £14 for a 10" pizza. Takeaway prices for a pub meal. The pub was well lit and busy for a Monday night, i was there at 7:30pm and most of the tables occupied, but by 9pm the place had emptied. Three cask beers were on offer on arrival, shortly all but one had been exhausted, not including their keg offerings. Well priced beer for the area and local too, Hook Norton ales. The Landlord was welcoming and cheerful, and had been very busy at the weekend he told me, hence the beers finishing.

What began perfectly pleasantly had a real sting in the tail; a really surprising denouement… this hotel/restaurant doesn’t take cash. It is a human right to be able to decide whether you wish to pay virtually or by cash - and the Charingworth deny you that right. The meal was ok and the service helpful enough but a return match is sadly unlikely.

Fantastic food on a quiet night in the restaurant. We wanted to go out for dinner whilst staying in Blockley and with the village cafe restaurant fully booked, we opted for the crown hotel. The menu was small but the food was excellent. Two of us had the duck salad which was excellent, one had the smoked salmon and one the prawn cocktail - all generously portioned and fresh. For mains three of us had steak in mushroom sauce, the steaks were cooked well, the chips were great and the mushroom sauce lovely. Our fourth party member had the spinach and ricotta tortellini with pesto and it was another generous and excellent portion. We left well fed and happy!
