I am 83 years old and half Italian and I have always closely observed the restaurant business as my grandfather was a major player before the war in establishing Italian restaurants in London. My wife and I ordered a simple starter of crabcakes which tasted like cardboard with little or no taste of the crab. I ordered a special house pasta as my main course and the pasta was not cooked and for the first time in my life I couldn’t even eat it so I just left it on the plate. I did not want to get into any disagreement or argument in the restaurant and as usual I vote with my feet. I will never go back there again as it was £80 wasted for a very unhappy evening.

6 of us had an evening meal on Saturdays evening , service was excellent. All of us agreed that the food was of good quality and delicious, best we’ve eaten for a long time. It was nice that it was a set menu and you could choose from British or Indian dishes. Also made it easier to divide the bill. Will certainly eat here again when in the area.

Ordered two afternoon teas and a pizza. Pizza arrived with burnt edges. According to the menu, afternoon tea should have been sandwiches, scones and PASTRIES. What arrived was two inedible scones - rock hard, carrot cake with frozen topping, a warm scone placed next to a chocolate macaron so that the latter melted and a selection of sponge cakes. There was no cutlery, side plates nor napkins. We had to make a special request for these items. We were told they were not supplied because we had 'sat in the wrong place'. Not sure how we were meant to spread the cream and jam ! After about 40 minutes we finally reached agreement on a reduction on the bill. As we were leaving, one member of staff approached us again to try to justify the awful experience. We were joined by a 'manager' who was very rude and who threatened us with the police and to cancel my membership of over 15 years. At no time did we behave in any way other than appropriate, trying to point out that if an establishment is going to charge top end prices then it needs to have customer service to match. We suggested that it is not OK for a chef to allow burnt pizza to be served. It is not a good customer service model to base your standards on the customer's need to complain. If you want afternoon tea - look elsewhere.
