Ordered two afternoon teas and a pizza. Pizza arrived with burnt edges. According to the menu, afternoon tea should have been sandwiches, scones and PASTRIES. What arrived was two inedible scones - rock hard, carrot cake with frozen topping, a warm scone placed next to a chocolate macaron so that the latter melted and a selection of sponge cakes. There was no cutlery, side plates nor napkins. We had to make a special request for these items. We were told they were not supplied because we had 'sat in the wrong place'. Not sure how we were meant to spread the cream and jam ! After about 40 minutes we finally reached agreement on a reduction on the bill. As we were leaving, one member of staff approached us again to try to justify the awful experience. We were joined by a 'manager' who was very rude and who threatened us with the police and to cancel my membership of over 15 years. At no time did we behave in any way other than appropriate, trying to point out that if an establishment is going to charge top end prices then it needs to have customer service to match. We suggested that it is not OK for a chef to allow burnt pizza to be served. It is not a good customer service model to base your standards on the customer's need to complain. If you want afternoon tea - look elsewhere.

I had lunch here last week, and do so a few times a year. I have to say that things are improving. It used to look like an airport departure terminal but they have changed the furniture and layout to give more variety and it's a massive improvement. Last time I visited (a couple of months ago) our Pepsi's were flat and our server almost refused to believe that this could be the case; but we had much better service on this occasion and I'm glad to report that the Pepsi was fizzy! I like the Conservatory area as it is spacious, bright and good for social distancing; but I see that they've also now put in a table area in the main restaurant, with plug sockets which appeared to be very popular for working at, when I visited. My dining companions' burgers looked great, but my Mac n' Cheese whilst tasting pretty good, was tiny and only a starter size which was really disappointing. Anyway, the general trajectory of this place appears to be up, which is good news.

Awful service. Okay food. Went for a special birthday meal. Treated by staff as an inconvenience. Forgot drinks orders, gave us butter knives for steaks, didn’t clear our table and forgot to bring sauces when asked. Dementor of staff was rude and lacked in any sense of customer service.

The accommodations were impressive! Service was fast, staff was friendly, clean clean clean, good selection of food, well stocked bar and knowledgeable bartenders, like Simon, who tended me several times. Hope to come back!

Really poor service, expensive drinks and confused staff. We ordered three liquor coffees which the the bar staff didn’t understand and the order when it arrived came out wrong and badly made. Disappointing

Bar was big and soulless, hardly any customers and yet the staff were disorganised, did not communicate with each other or other departments, tables left uncleared and food excessively expensive for what it was

First, on our way down, we rang the hotel to try and book afternoon tea for when we arrived. Reception put us through to the bar and the call was left to ring out until we eventually gave up. Second, after a tiring days journey, we were looking forward to a relaxing drink in the bar. On arrival, we were told to take a seat and he would come and take our order. He then proceeded to serve everyone who went up to the bar whilst we sat waiting patiently for over 10 minutes. After he had taken our order, cleaned the bar and done a few other jobs, we eventually got our drinks, 30 minutes after sitting down. Finally, on our last night, even though there was a wedding and only one additional member of staff, service of both food and drink was much better, and partially redeemed by the head barman.

We opted to have the burgers for dinner, very uncomplicated but it was great quality food. The seating area was okay, it was good to eat your meals at the tables but having a bar there, it would have been nice to have high stools to sit up properly after your meal. (this is just personal preference). Great service, polite and friendly staff.

We used to stop off here quite regularly for lunches as a 'journey break', but hadn't visited for a few years until last week when we used it again (twice, both on an outward trip and return trip) for a light lunch and a pot of tea. We found it fairly unchanged and as good as we remembered. The main bar part is (and always has been) a bit dark, but we sit in the conservatory area with a pleasant view of the grounds, fountain and lake. There is a good bar menu with plenty of choice. It's perhaps a bit on the pricey side, but we have found the food to be of very good quality. The loos are very nice too! It's situated just off the A404, between the M40 and M4 - We had often seen it from the A404 before we visited, but I remember it being a little difficult to find the first time - It's easy when you know the way, just 5 minutes through a business park area to get to it, and ample parking when you arrive.

Having booked into the Plaza for Afternoon tea, combining a hen do with Mothers Day, we were faced with a catalogue of appalling service. On arrival we were completely ignored , and then told to help ourselves to the hot buffet. On explaining we had booked in for afternoon tea and Not lunch, the F@B Manager argued with us , that that was what reservations had booked us in for . After having to insist we didn't want lunch, we were taken to a dirty table and ignored again !! We were then taken to a table in what can only be described as an air craft hanger with no atmosphere and people in dressing gowns !! We then had to wait ages for a drinks order to be taken . The afternoon tea was brought out, and food dropped onto the table, no acknowledgement from the staff. The sandwhiches were dry, and no tea arrived . As no staff came to see how we were, we had to go and search for staff to ask for Tea twice , to which the staff seemed amazed that we expected pots of tea with our afternoon tea!!! Maybe the Plaza do things differently to the rest of the country . .......... when we asked for our bill, we were told they had already charged our credit card!! THAT IS COMPLETELY illegal . We went to complain straight away, not only had they illegally charged our credit card without our permission, they had charged us £25 a head instead of £18 each, to which the F@B manager told us was our fault as he thought we were booked in for lunch and not afternoon tea! We then checked the bill, to find they had also overcharged us for our wine, the one we ordered was £25 a bottle, they had charged us £34.50 a bottle. Again the F@B manager told us that was our fault as they were close to one another on the menu, and we should have checked !! When we explained the waitress had poured the wine and taken it away without showing us, not his fault ........ When we demanded a refund on the card they had illegally taken money from , he told us he couldn't , as there was no- one in the building that could do it. I went to reception to ask for the managers name , when they asked why, I told them I had never experienced such appalling service in my life, and that they had illegally charged a credit card without permission, and then at this point , they also tried charging it all again on my nieces credit card. The duty manager came with the B@ F manager, and I can only say , if this business wants to have customers return, they all need some serious customer service training . We were again basically told it was our fault , and they would speak to the manager tomorrow, but they couldn't give us a refund !! Even if we get a full refund tomorrow , that will not make up for ruining a special weekend with our Mothers , and celebrating the Hen Do of my sister in law. All I can say is ,we will be going to trading standards, Shocking, Shocking,Shocking service.

We were guests in the hotel during a very busy and exciting weekend. There were some staffing issues because there were so many large groups, lots of football activity on the big screens, and a Christmas market. We just spoke more firmly to get attention and our drinks. We enjoyed a lovely salad at the bar for lunch and cocktailed before dinner both nights we were in the hotel. I can see they are working on getting it all pulled together so I'm giving them extra points for trying. I loved that there were women having tea in their spa robes and families celebrating, and guys cheering their teams all in one big room....lots of happy activity.

I went to the crowne plaza a few weeks ago to visit family that were staying in the hotel, we stayed for dinner hoping for something enjoyable! What a mistake!! We ate In the bar area as we wanted to feel more relaxed but I didn't expect it to be so relaxed that the staff would rather watch the football rather than doing their jobs!! We sat at a dirty table and watched the staff laugh and joke at the bar, waiting for the table to be cleared and to take our order..... Still waiting..... I got fed up and decided I would clear the dirty glasses and plates to the bar in which I was thanked by one of the bar staff... I then went back to the bar and picked up some cleaning spray and a cloth to wipe the old food off the table at which point the same member of staff looked at me and said "yes that's fine" he then turned and carried on watching the game!! Finally we had our order taken! We all ordered the steak.... All of which were over cooked.... What a complete let down, this place could be so much better!! I won't be back for sure!!

Me and my wife enjoyed a number of cocktails in Agua. They are some of the best I've ever tasted and were around £10 each. We sat at the bar and were looked after by the head bartender who made all of our drinks with great care. Thoroughly enjoyable and highly recommended.

Booking an afternoon tea is great, the receptionist is brilliant but the Cafe and Bar sadly lacks customer friendly skills. Do not expect a white linen cloth on a table with dinner chairs. We had easy chairs and a glass table. The food is just OK as the Cream Cheese sandwiches were something not to experience again and the Scones were dry hard and overcooked and we ran out to tea to try to wash this down.. Order a jug of water with your Afternoon Tea!

We much preferred the type of food on offer here to the glaze restaurant, so we visited for dinner on our one night stay. The menu selection was good, although when I browsed the website the link to the menu didn't function. We took a seat before going off to find additional menus because there was only one on our large table at which five people were seated. Someone came and took our order quite quickly. They were polite, although could have smiled more; this goes for most of the staff we encountered. The atmosphere was quite dark, although this didn't bother us. The music accompanying the seats outside was quite loud. There were quite a few crumbs on the sofa I was sat on. The area behind the bar looked like it could have been cleaner. Staff clearly weren't mopping up small spillages as they happened & the wood by the fridge looked old and difficult to clean.A waiter approached our table and asked us to pay (although we hadn't got any food yet) which I found quite odd although he said we get 25% off if we pay before the food comes out. In the event of a complaint however, reductions from the bill would become difficult. Additionally, I found the addition of the 12.5% service charge quite rude. If customers want to tip then they will, so a service charge is not needed. Having said this, I do believe that you can ask for it to be removed if needed. The drinks came out. I would have preferred my J2O in a glass and over ice as opposed to in the bottle.Food came out quickly. Everything was delicious and the portion sizes were excellent. The wooden board presentation was good. Well worth what was paid and excellent value overall. Although I do think that the fish and chips could have been seasoned more to give them more flavour and some herbs on the top would improve the look of the dish further. Ask for a kids size dish and you get a considerable discount.Someone came over and asked if everything was okay halfway through the meal. Plates were collected quickly. We ordered dessert, which was delivered quickly. The brownie was delicious with the pistachio ice cream and again very well presented although we didn't receive napkins. The staff were able to change the flavour of the ice cream to suit the likes of one person in our party. We left full and very satisfied with the food, which is why I would happily recommend and return.

We bought tickets to the Crowne Plaza's New Years Eve which was advertised as 'The perfect way to see in 2016 with friends! Celebrate New Year’s Eve at our ‘Aguacafé & bar’ New Year’s Eve Disco from 9pm – 2am, with countdown and fireworkfinale over the lake at midnight' for £25.00 per person. Considering the cost and given the venue and the description we assumed that this would be a lovely way to spend New Year, how we were sadly mistaken.Having arrived at the Crowne Plaza at 8:45 we thought that we would be able to take advantage of the 2-4-1 cocktails on our first round, however we were greeted by a member of staff who spent the whole 10 minutes discussing whether or not we would like a wristband or not and didn't seem to know the purpose?Once we eventually got to the bar the 2-4-1 cocktails had finished, however another problem became more apparent, the pungent smell of sick surrounding the bar area and the main disco area. The smell was so overpowering we chose to sit out in the airy conservatory which was very cold at this time of year but much better than the smell of sick! The smell was so bad that we asked a member of bar staff what had happened and why this had not been cleaned better but the member of staff just shrugged.Having missed out on the cocktails we decided to buy some champagne to celebrate the new year, only to be given a bottle in an ice bucket uncorked but no glasses! This was a very disappointing start to our night, but we thought that surely the Disco/fireworks display was going to be better and was what we had paid £25.00 per ticket for.The DJ was very lively and got everyone up dancing which was good however at around 11:55 we were all ushered outside for what we thought was going to be the fireworks and the countdown but was silence .... 12pm came and went with no countdown and no fireworks and even worse no explanation from the staff, I would have understood if there had been technical difficulties and this had been explained but instead everyone was left stood outside in the cold for 20 minutes before the fireworks eventually were set off. There was also no bacon sandwiches being sold at the end of the night either, not that after how the night had panned out we would have bought one at £4.00 each! I cannot express how disappointing this whole evening was and how we will certainly not choose this venue again should we visit Marlow in the future as last year we went to the Crowne Plaza in Liverpool and the experience was much better.

Just got back from an overnight stay here following a 2 day break at legoland. A 20 min drive from the theme park but well worth it. Away from the hustle and bustle, a very sleek and chic hotel. A great placwe to unwind after a hectic day in the park with a choice of a la carte restaurant or good pub grub in the main bar. A lovely outside seating area overlooking a tranquil lake with a kiddies park ( contained and well away from the water ) to occupy the kids whilst you can have a well earned drink and rest and watch them play safely. Breakfast the next day was also great with lots of variety to cater for everyone. Furthermore the staff were very pleasant and made our stay an extremely nice experience. Top marks and I would highly recommned, especially if you are booking through Legoland as it provides such a welcome haven from the madness of the theme park. Top notch !!!!

Having received a champagne voucher as Christmas present, booked a table to take advantage of generous gift. We were made to feel guilty when I presented voucher, it took at least ten minutes for waiting staff to verify gift voucher after them saying that the champagne part of gift was only available until end of March (which was in small print at bottom of voucher! so meaning extra money paid was wasted!). We queried this and received 2 glasses as we were regulars. We went the following December in time of gift voucher. Made to feel like we were not worthy to be there.
