We went to The Ivy as we were given a voucher to spend. I was really disappointed. The service was amazing, but the menu wasn't anything that amazing it was a steak on its own, a burger, or fish and mash. It was all very small. All sides cost extra. Our bill was £200 for 2 starters, 2 meals, no extras, 2 deserts, 1 glass of wine, and a beer. I had trouble with my main, and it had to go back by the time it came back. My husband had finished and ate alone The staff were lovely but too much money for what it is sadly For desert, I had a chocolate bomb that was nice

I really hate doing these kinds of reviews, I am Restaurant owner myself. We visit the restaurant regularly, without child and now with our son. Three weeks ago we visited the restaurant and at the end of the evening our son got up and was walking down,Customers waved to him , we'll make sure no one is disturbed, as I mentioned before, we have our own restaurant. An employee immediately came over and warned us, "Guests feel disturbed." We had already finished our meal, got up and left, so far so good. Last evening ( That day was Halloween, many guests were in costumes, including the staff; so the atmosphere was relaxed ) our business partners came from abroad, which I mentioned when making the reservation, and they also have a 9-year-old child. We didn't feel welcome at reception. We were given a table in the corner of the winter garden which was far too small for 6 people. So as not to ruin our evening, we said nothing. Our orders came very late, drinks after two reminders. Two side dishes were not brought at all, which we didn't make a problem of as we had enough. The two children sitting the whole evening and played with toys they had brought themselves. They were neither loud nor disruptive in any way. My steak, which was ordered medium, came completely well done so I called the waiter and showed it to him. He told me that it was normal for medium to get redder towards the end?! Sorry but this isn't the first time I've eaten steak. I have never experienced anything like this before, no sorry, no asking if he can bring a new one, instead he gives me a lesson on what a medium steak is. The meat was definitely completely well done. Also, the meat came completely cold and sauces were only brought when we asked for them. I asked another waitress to look at my steak. She apologised and confirmed that it was not medium and took it and brought me a new one. Later on the bill I saw that my steak had been charged twice for being brought again. When we ordered our desserts, for which we also paid, the children got up and walked around our table runners up and down the aisle 2-3 times. I repeat, we take great care that the children don't disturb anyone and took them back to the table. Immediately another employee came over and said customers felt disturbed. We were so uncomfortable that we got up and left without eating our dessert, which we had paid for. When we asked for the bill, the waiter told us that he would give us a discount, sorry but we didn't ask for a discount? It was so uncomfortable for us that we were literally humiliated by our gestures. We were also talking about how child-friendly uk is compared to other European countries. Our guests said that they had never felt so uncomfortable and unwanted. We do not recommend a visit with children, no matter how well behaved they are, children are not welcome here and they will make you feel that so that you will want to get up and leave as quickly as possible. Our day was ruined, thank you for that.

Don’t believe the hype. Unless you are name dropping and pretending you have wealth, the staff don’t really seem to attentive. I have been to a few different ivy restaurants and this was the worst experience we had. The food was very good but the waiting staff spent too much time ‘brown nosing’ people that they thought were ‘important’. We noticed other people complaining about this too. Maybe if we pretended to know Ricky Gervais, we would have got better service…….

Firstly, let me say the service was excellent and both starters of salt & pepper squid and crispy duck salad were actually quite exceptional. As for the mains however, the lobster linguini was disappointingly already off the menu at 6:15pm on a Saturday evening. Opting for the filleted sea bass, I didn’t expect to be extracting bones on the first mouthful and the fish itself was what I could only describe as soggy! The accompanying vegetable sides were definitely the highlight of our mains! The venue looks fresh and lovely and there was a good buzz towards the end of our sitting. We were sat in the conservatory, which was, in my opinion, the best area to be seated and with the tea lights lit, it provided a cozy romantic environment. However, beware, the flooring which leads to that area is very slippery - a special warning to ladies in high heels and the elderly. It really was like an ice rink - on arriving I had to hold onto my husband’s arm and on departing, I slid into the side of a full table. Nothing to do with alcohol consumption, I assure you! The staircase to the toilets is shared with serving staff running up and down from the kitchen, which is on the same level. Very noticeable were the sticky bannisters! Given the variety of restaurants in the area, we’re not likely to return.

My wife and I went to The Ivy for her birthday around 3pm today. The food was good but the customer service was absolutely terrible! Our waiter (male short brown hair) the manager knows who I mean, forgot the high chair for our daughter which we only noticed half way through the meal while we were juggling her, (not the biggest deal) and also forgot my wife's drink, I approached him and asked kindly "Hi mate, I just wanted to check on my wife's drink" a normal response would have been sorry I'll get that now for you or something. Instead he didn't even acknowledge me at all, instead sarcastically saying to the bartender, and one aperol sprits. I told the manager about this and he made the waiter apologise but when he did so it was so obvious he didn't give a care in the world that it just made the whole situation worse. The whole thing ruined our experience and the afternoon of what otherwise was a lovely day. I have been a waiter and a manager and have nothing but respect for the tough job they do, but this young man's pompous attitude was not professional and in result we will not be going back again.

The Ivy Marlow Garden is a lovely eatery worth visiting in Marlow on the high street. It has the interior decor and feel of other Ivy restaurants that I’ve been to. The staff are very friendly and polite. The menu has a good selection to choose from (the black cod, the salmon and the shepherds pie are good). I chose the 1917 menu for calamari and thin beaten rump steak - this was really good and a good set price. There is an extensive wine list to choice from and a couple decent beers. If you can try and get seated under the lantern light towards the end of the restaurant and these have good oval tables and comfy seats. Recommended.

Food is good, as are drinks. Service is always friendly, but each time I've been (3 times), drinks have taken forever to come - we've had to ask waiting staff for them each time as they (the drinks) have just been sitting on the bar. They have basically arrived with food which I don't think should happen, especially in such a restaurant. The drinks are always good when they arrive - especially cocktails - but I don't understand the delay.

Having booked a table for 5 on the 11th August and received confirmation, we were looking forward to eating at this iconic restaurant. Upon arrival, we were told there was no record of our booking. A manager was summoned, and a table found. Not a good for a birthday treat. Inside the Ivy, the décor was excellent … a far cry from the food we were served which wasn’t. Three of our party opted for Sunday roast from our server, a young lady who seemed extremely bored and totally disinterested in us and her job. Three roasts arrived, one without gravy. We immediately requested some, but none came. We again requested gravy. After 10 minutes, still no gravy, and one lunch, a shepherd’s pie, had also failed to materialise. I asked our disinterested server if a search party might be organised for gravy plus pie. She made a face and tapped something into her computer. The pie eventually arrived, burnt to a cinder – see photo. When I complained, all our server could say was “sorry about that”. Then incredibly, turned on her heels and disappeared. We finally ordered desserts which arrived together with 6 pots of gravy. Message to The Ivy management. Retrain your door greeters so that guests are welcomed and not shown the door sans lunch. Retrain your servers. When a customer complains, ensure something is done immediately to rectify. Have stern words with your chefs so that burnt food, which could be carcinogenic, is never served. Ensure that roast lunches are always served with gravy … and ice creams are not.

I wanted to go to the Ivy for lunch on my birthday, and we chose Marlow as we used to live in the area and love the town. We had a 1.5 hour drive, and I have to say it was worth it. Everything was just perfect. The food was wonderful, so full of flavour and beautifully presented. The service was excellent, the timings between courses just right. Our waiter was so lovely (I didn't get his name). He asked if we were celebrating anything and I told him it was my birthday, so he brought a profiterole with a candle along with our desserts! I was thrilled, what a lovely gesture. Something like that doesn't cost the restaurant much, but is a lovely and memorable thing. We would definitely go to the Ivy again. One small thing, although it was a very hot day and I could understand men wearing shorts (as my husband did, having phoned to check it was OK), some of the male customers looked decidedly scruffy, in t-shirts and flip-flops. I think perhaps the "smart casual" dress code should perhaps be better enforced. It was lovely to see so many ladies in pretty dresses, but some of the men left a lot to be desired!

The staff were friendly, efficient and helpful without being too intrusive. The menu had a wide selection of dishes and there was a special menu called the 1917 menu which featured a starter and main for 19 pounds 17. The food arrived in a reasonable time and was well cooked and well presented. The portion sizes were decent, no one in our party left hungry. Some of the dishes had a bit of theatre about them including the smoked salmon with oak smoke enclosed in the cover over the plate and some dry ice under white chocolate ice cream. I think they have struck a good balance between providing decent food and something a bit special without being pretentious. Overall, a very pleasant place to have a special meal and at a reasonable price, especially for Marlow.

We went to the Ivy for Father's Day dinner yesterday. We went for the father's day set menu. The food was good but prices were high. You had a pay for a supplement to get the sirloin steak (£6), so why put it on the set menu in the first place, and then pay an extra £6 to have chips, as it's coming on its own (??!). The salmon was delicious. Then, my son ordered a burger from the kids menu, it was £10 for literally just a brioche bun and a burger. There was nothing else, no cheese (you had to pay extra to add cheese!!), so sauce, butter, lettuce, nothing. It was really dry and not really good. Luckily, this dish came with chips and we didn't have to pay extra. Then, when it came to pay the bill, it came at £300 for 3 person and a kid! We were shocked, until we realised we were charged double. We asked our waiter to double check, he brought back the bill, but still wasn't right, we were still charge two extra meals, so we had a ask a manager to check the bill again. One good thing was the little father's day gift they gave my husband, I thought it was a nice touch. Overall the food was good and this is a beautiful restaurant, but I don't understand why there is so many extra to pay, this is a bit ridiculous.

A really pretentious place that serves pub food as if it was a one star Michelin. The strange thing is that on TripAdvisor Uk the public seems to love the place, if you go to other european sites of TripAdvisor you'll see that they've given it 3stars. Perhaps because they are more expert in the quality of restaurants better than Brits in a region that does not have that many affordable mid range places. Finally please try and avoid their fried zucchini that comes in such a huge basket that will spoil your appetite for the rest of the meal. Your stomach will complain if you try to finish it. Furthermore ask the waiters to stop saying 'enjoy' when they serve the food. Its so passé it's embarrassing.

The people are very friendly and the service is first class. However... The food is amazingly AVERAGE for the money you are paying. I expected much better. I've eaten there previously and had better food. Overall it's a lovely place to go but I would not rush back there anytime soon, it's very expensive for the standard of food you have there. The best place in Marlow for any breakfast is Fego across the road. Much better value. The Ivy is lovely for a special ocassion, but not somewhere I would go regularly. Overall I would give the Ivy 3 stars. Thank you. Our breakfast for 2 people was £32.00 incl. service. We had x2 cups of tea. x1 ham and cheese omelette x1 Milk pancakes with strawberry sauce and fruit

Very Disappointing! Do not go here when hungry as very, very small portions. Ordered a prawn and avocado starter for £14.95 which consisted of 3 prawns and 2 pieces of avocado the size of 2 blueberries. Ordered blackened cod. Really tiny portion, Luke warm, thank goodness we had ordered extra sides , otherwise would have been really hungry. Needed to order more drinks and had to attract staff attention.

Good food every time. Nothing special but nothing bad. Just The Ivy straight forward food. But no vibe in here. Leave your personality at the door folks!

Came here for an anniversary recently and had a fantastic experience. The venue is lovely with fantastic decor, the service was solid (getting the bill took a little time) and the food was fantastic. Highly recommended.

Nice food, good service. But if you're thinking of having a birthday meal there, and you're going to take your own cake, it's a no no. They said it was there policy and put it down to health and safety. What a load of rubbish. I've never known this to happen at any other restaurant I've dined at before. Being a chain it does lack that personal touch. Family run restaurants do have the edge when it comes to service.

This is a gem. A real discovery. The restaurant is located in the pleasant shopping and restaurant street in the center of Marlow. The interior is typically English in style, without being truly classic or archaic. Fairly colorfully decorated. But what matters most is the culinary pleasure. And this is really great. A beautiful and richly diversified à l carte menu, which offers something for everyone. Fish, steak, lamb, lobster, you name it. We had the salmon as a starter, others the calamari. As a main course we had the steak tartare (which is very artfully prepared at the table, highly recommended!), the salmon and then the lamb. We took the house wine, which is of course difficult to judge. The prices are more than reasonable for what you get, and certainly how it is presented. The presentation on the plate is really of a high standard. The service was very friendly and helpful without being pushy. If you want to eat in Marlow, this restaurant should definitely be on your list! If I ever come back here, they will definitely see me there again!
