Trybes restaurant and grill in Wycombe

Meal left out and meat was sent with rice instead of fish. More attention to detail is required.

I ordered chicken and plantain but couldn't eat the chicken because it looked black and so dry I could not even cut into it. It looked like it had been reheated over and over and something you would not even give to you dog. I might report this to the food safety standards 🤔

I’ve ordered 5 times and each experience worse than the other. Don’t expect any decent amount of meat or chicken. The pepper soup is full of intestines and no other meat. The stewed chicken is stewed bones. They send whatever food they feel like sending and not what you ordered. Everything is always sold out. If you come in store you will wait like 10 mins before staff come out to serve you. Close up shop and work on quality control and relaunch.

Avoid at all cost! Ordered fish and plantain with yam fries and peppered sauce. I received old and dry fish, barely any meat on it as it was all bones, went straight to the bin. No plantain, no yam fries. Instead I received microwaved sweet potato chips and plain pounded yam. After I complained they said they’ll call me back for a resolution but never did.

Good food for a good price and plenty of it..I had the jolof rice, jerk chicken and plantain, the jerk chicken wasn't as hot'n'spicy as I'd expect but the flavour was real nice and the jolof and plantain was totally delicious 😋 and served by lovely friendly & helpful staff, knocked one star off for atmosphere because I'd have found some music more atmospheric to eat to rather than tv, but to be fair I think they're main trade is takeaway so it's not as geared towards eating in as it could be. 😉👌 Overall an enjoyable experience and a very full belly!

Food was very delicious and I enjoyed every bit of it..The people who attended to us were also very friendly.

We jerk chicken, curry mutton large, jolloff rice. The rice was lovely however the curry mutton wasn’t up to much more bones than meat. Every mouthful I had to pick loads of small bones out. The jerk chicken was also boney and microwaved didn’t taste like proper Caribbean jerk chicken. Was quite pricey aswell

Small portions for the price and very rude staff. Need to work on their customer service, the lady made it seem like you were bothering her to order your food. Wouldn’t go back.

Very very rude staff with poor customer skills. The lady working here which unfortunately did not get her name is VERY RUDE. Thank you , will not be coming back for this reason.

Although the flavour is good, portion sizes of their meat is an issue which has been mentioned several times on reviews left by others. Jollof rice is generous but I got given a single piece of the stewed hard chicken which had more bones than meat itself. For £15 (once you include delivery) you’re basically paying for rice.

The food was really good. I ate curry mutton, rice and peas, salt fish fritters and plantain.

No one front of house and music too loud to call anyone for service. When someone finally arrives you feel like you’re bothering them. Roti really expensive for the portion and was biting into salt. Will make the trek to roti joupa or trini roti shop next time :-(

First time I went there the food was excellent and so was service but the second time I went over to France for chicken they gave me one piece of chicken and no rice very disappointing it’s put me off now going back there

First time trying Jollof rice and jerk chicken and I was impressed. Good portion size, didn't have to wait long and good customer service. Slightly pricey but in life you got to spend to enjoy good food. Did I mention the portion size? I'll be now full for the next 7 years. Deffo recommend, gonna bring my long distance uncle from Jamaica next time, he's been dying for a good meal.

Tbh I was expecting a bit more for my money as I paid the extra £2 per meal to go large and was very disappointed with what we got for it, one chicken leg for one meal and 3 tiny pieces of chicken for the hard stew, which makes me wonder what I’d have been given if I hadn’t paid the extra to make it large. Altogether £33.50 for 2 x rice and 1 x chicken leg 3 x tiny bits of chicken and 1 x macaroni with no cheese 1 x coleslaw 1 x dry cake all f which were very poor portions. The service from the start was very poor being told I had to wait on the line to give my order! Of which took the best part of 10 minutes. When I received our food there was only one piece of jerk chicken in the tub when the menu said a thigh and leg. I ordered curry chicken and had to wait over half hour to get to the shop and to be told they didn’t have the curry chicken so I had to have the hard chicken stew of which wasn’t up to scratch at all. the hard stew chicken was awful with 3 tiny pieces of chicken of which I couldn’t eat at all. The Mac n cheese was literally just boiled pasta with a few sweet peppers and literally no cheese. We ordered cake and it wasn’t in the bag so I had to go back and get it. Over all the restaurant is very poorly run in my opinion and I certainly won’t be going back.

It took 15 minutes to order over the phone, when we arrived to collect our food the lady said they didn't have curry chicken. So we had to order another dish. My order of jerk chicken only had one leg of chicken, instead of a leg and thigh which the menu states it should be. Rice was bland and the mac and cheese had no cheese! Not worth £33 we paid!

To pay £20 food and to not get a plastic cutlery is very poor service

The rice and peas was old and the beans were dried and hard. The curry mutton wasn't authentic and not nice so I ended up eating the plantain mainly. Wasn't pleased at all by the quality of the meal.

This is the best place to be for food, atmosphere and good vibes. Jerk chicken and jollof and beautiful people. Dining area and kitchen so clean. The gorgeous lady who welcomed me in, the manager and chef so polite and went above and beyond. Can’t wait to bring my family here 🫶🏽

It was disgusting food to be honest and very expensive , so i expected quality at least . I lived in Africa for 10 years so knew what I was ordering. It was undercooked though.. very dangerous for customer … I was on the toilet for two days.. I had to go too hospital in the end. I complained and all they said was call me RUDE & a LIAR. I wish I got her name I’m a police officer a sergeant so it’s not in my nature too lie . Take my advice, avoid at all cost ..literally.0 stars …their food nearly killed me !!!!

I was impressed all round, although the fried rice only had 3 shrimps in and the gizzard in the gizdodo was a bit tough but otherwise, i have found my African spot (when i can’t be bothered to throw it down). Tbh, i think this is the only African restaurant local

First time placing an order. I rang to make sure they had veggie options and was told yes but you have to order online so I did. To then get a message saying that one of my options was unavailable. That's fine I picked something else. I then get a message saying my order is cancelled. So I ring to see what is goin on. They have no veggie options left. So why not say that the first time I called. Very unimpressed.

Food was really great. They have the best Turkey I’ve eaten in a while. The vegetables soup and Pounded yam was really great. And staffs are really nice. Would definitely check in again when next I visit.

Dreamed of a nearby African eatery since relocating, and it's finally a reality. The cuisine was impressive, securing my frequent patronage. It may challenge my waistline, but it's absolutely worth it. 😄

The pepper soup definitely cured my cold/running nose and was the spontaneous remedy I didn't know was needed. I also had the pounded Yam and egusi considering i still had no appetite and loss of taste from COVID!!! A much needed restaurant!!

Proper Nigerian food, yummy, had the Ayamase with rice wow, taste bomb and Adeola the waitress was very friendly. Next time I want to try the Banga soup.

I have bought your pounded yam and ugusu piping hot abd really yummy but today the yam was hard texture and ugusu had this tomatoe paste on top not so great to be honest.

I took the family for a meal to TRYBES to celebrate my sons 18 th birthday ,since it was a new restaurant in our local area we thought we would give it a try and support our local businesses . We could not believe the quality of the food it was basically a 1 out of 5 . The chef was very dismissive when I asked a question about one of our dishes being undercooked. ..tbh I wish I’d took the time to of looked at previous reviews. I love African food but this was the worst Iv ever experienced which was so disappointing … the bill was over £80 for two adults and two kids also, which seems very expensive & not including the service charge We were all very disappointed I wish Caribbean kitchen was still open on Desborough road… now that was quality food .and always served with a smile.

I was sick for a week after eating the chicken..When I complained to chef about food being under cooked she swore at me. AVOID if you treasure your health

They prepare the best Jollof Rice in the whole of High Wycombe and I highly recommend them. Nice meals, swift deliveries and everything. I give it a 10/10.

I came for brunch, the experience was incredible. Excellent warm customer service. The food was delicious and the meat was tender not tough. You get a good portion so great value for money. For those looking for new dining experiences, trybes is defo worth a visit
