The best restaurants in St Johns West Berkshire South East

Great breakfast and friendly service, nicely priced. Can't wait to go back and have another one. I would recommend this for a fry up.

The spring rolls were huge and greasy and tasted like they had been stored for a year before being warmed up in the microwave. Poor hygiene the place felt like it needs a lift

Not much to say about this pub it was a poor experience. So good points, ample parking and the staff were friendly. Bad points they got our order wrong so mo starter, food was not not inviting, the plant based burger was listed as a moving burger, the only thing it moved was me to write this review, cardboard would have more flavour than the burger, it was not eaten. We should have left before we ordered, the table was wonky, the drinking glasses were horrific, been through glass washer too many times and need replacing, salt and pepper grinders were grimy with grease and dirt, spiders webs with old dead flies on the windows. I don't want to eat chips for lunch, I don't want to be offered a free dessert, I just want good honest food which at £25 a head for one course and a drink was not the case.

Ewan and his team are exceptional in looking after their customers. We had a private function for a wake with food. They had sectioned a quiet area, set up an area to display photos and really looked after us. Their food is excellent. Don't be fooled into thinking this is a run of the mill chain pub. It's staff, service, food and management are a credit to Marsdens.

I had chicken fried rice , large pancake rolls chips and curry sauce . The pancake rolls contained bean sprouts and one tiny shrimp … they were under cooked so had to go into the air frier … made them more palatable but not good. The chips were not cooked and hard in the middle … they were thrown away. The curry sauce had a glue like consistency which was not palatable … went in the bin…. The chicken fried rice was not like any I have tasted before … hardly any chicken about three peas and was as dry as could be … it tasted bad. Went in the bin. All in all I paid over 18 pounds and only ate the pancake rolls having cooked them due to being undercooked. I live a few miles away so didn’t take it all back …. Once I was home I didn’t want to head back out. Very disappointed.
