I go here regularly. Small friendly little cafe in the village shop. Sometimes buy as popular with hikers and cyclists in the area as well as being used by us locals. Fantastic for a brief cuppa, with excellent barrista coffees and pots of tea with an excellent range of made locally or in house cakes, sausage rolls, pasties etc. Some rather fantastic 'salad' options [coleslaw] made freshly to accompany the above and there's always a good 'soup of the day', again made freshly. Wonderful people watching either indoors or out and really friendly volunteers running this community owned cafe. Highly recommended.

Perfectly ambient all day brunch spot. Beautiful gastro cafe, inviting and cosy. The food was delicious; we tried the eggs Benedict, full English, brownie, and a coffee. The coffee stood out for me, while my girlfriend loved the brownie. Reasonably valued, (£5 for a brownie), and everything was spot on so definitely worth it. Service was great - fast and sooo friendly. And the trinkets are super cute!!! And the garden is so beautiful on those rare sunny days:) Highly highly recommend, one of my favourite cafs ive been to

Tucked away in the rolling downs of rural west Berkshire this gem of a village is sustained by a delightful friendly shop and cafe which sells a range of gorgeous hot and cold food. The soup of the day was leek and potato which was tasty. The breakfast nap loaded with savoury sausage egg and bacon. Service was excellent too. This is also a fave haunt of mamil cyclists stopping for cafe . Wine was quite pricey but I liked the way they were so organised with a leaflet advertising their Christmas activities. Walls were festooned with all the many well deserved awards earned for top quality service. No sensodyne toothpaste was a serious (not) omission! I’ll be back on. My bike soon.

The Royal Oak is an attractive restaurant/pub/hotel sitting 8n beautiful Berkshire countryside, but a short drive from the interesting market town of Newbury. The staff are always helpful, welcoming and efficient and the food never disappoints. If going out with friends for a meal or just as a couple, for an overnight stay, the Royal Oak is where we would always choose. Our last meal with friends was in one of their private dining rooms, where we held a murder mystery party for ten. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience thanks in a great part to the Royal Oak.

We stayed overnight on the way to a wedding, mid-week. Everyone was very helpful and friendly, and managed my limited diet very well - the food was lovely, and generous helpings. We stayed in Room 1, with lots of room and everything we needed. The beds are very comfortable and the bed linen excellent, and loads of hot water in a generous shower. We loved the old English atmosphere, and would definitely stay again if passing this way. Thank you for a great little stay.

Ordered a KFC for the family via Uber Eats. Unfortunately, my sister did not check the bag before accepting the order off the delivery guy. 2 bags of chips missing, all the corn on the cobs missing and all the gravy missing (basically of of our sides even though they were on the bag as part of the order). 30 mins of round the house phone calls to KFC and Uber to get a partial refund which will take 15 days to process. And tbf, what food we did receive was luke warm. Absolutely terrible KFC of which I will never order from again.
