The best restaurants in Watling Swale South East

Their mixed salad/pickles bento box (available at Macknade) is a tasty and healthy delight!

Thought this place was going to close, but it didn’t. As good as our last visit a while ago. Food from the garden and an excellent team means another visit in the near future. A nice oasis. ****Unfortunately now closed. Owners have retired.

An excellent and ever-changing choice of real ale, kept in perfect condition. There's a comfortable function / darts room at the back. I was there for a pint and a meeting in the back room so I can't comment on food. I like the constantly changing choice of real ale available.

The only good thing are the staff, they were lovely. The food on the other has really deteriorated unfortunately. Very sad indeed, it was once lovely place to go to.

Well been sat here for an hour still no sign of my order, we are here as a family group with a 1 year old child and they have just sat a Hen group next to us who are very loud and looking to drink themselves stupid, don’t think I shall come again

We have just had an absolutely beautifully presented, very well executed meal at this friendly little pub/restaurant in Faversham. Emma looked after us and she honestly couldn't have done more. Her smiley, friendly disposition is a real asset to the place. We can highly recommend the cheesy mushrooms and the lamb with minted lamb pie - clean plates all round! Thank you Emma, the chef and all the staff at the Gunpowder Mill for a wonderful meal.

Avoid. This Macknades open air outlet is a disgrace to a fine company. No indication on the menu that the baguettes were sourdough, and the bread was as tough as old boots - unchewable, and uncuttable with the wooden knives provided. Fillings were mean, and the ham no better than a supermarket’s. When we complained, our server offered to get them remade using pizza dough, which l hate, so we refused and asked for a refund. At first, offered a 50% refund “as we had eaten the filling” (in fact, the only edible component). It took a great deal of assertiveness, tenacity, and appeals to the manager that we eventually got a full refund. A really badly trained staff member. This experience is no reflection on the quality of the company’s great produce in general.
