A good choice in Faversham for ale drinkers who aren't fans of Shepherd Neame. It's on the southern side of the town centre, close to the station and well within walking distance of Salters Road (Faversham Town FC). The beer choice is varied and always in good nick, and the welcome is warm. There is a terrific walled garden with a fishpond and an abundance of fruit trees. Definitely worth a visit if you're on that side of town. (Update: this is now my local and I love it more than ever. Just to add, food is not served and it has both a great garden and a great pub cat called Admiral - he's in charge). 21/03/2024 update: it's still great.

Lovely friendly pub, good atmosphere, they are respectful, would recommend going to this pub. Haven't had food from here but will do it at some point.

An excellent choice of real ale, kept in perfect condition. There's a comfortable function / darts room at the back. The landlord has a reputation for being a bit grumpy sometimes, but generally a welcoming pub with a decent pint and he was cheerful when I visited.. I was there for a pint and a meeting in the back room so I can't comment on food. I like the constantly changing choice of real ale available.

Great free house just outside Faversham town center. You need to make the effort to come here, as it is a great pub with well kept real ale and ciders. The pub interior is a mini-museum to the Royal Navy and as an ex-matelot, I felt really at home here 😎. The beer is very well kept, and the pub is spotless. The bar staff are lovely and the ambience welcoming and friendly. In addition, the price list is really, really affordable! The only thing keeping this off a five-star rating, is the amount of instructions left for the clientele. You are basically told where to sit, how to sit, what to say, what not to say and even in the toilets which facility to use 😂. This might be amusing, however, looking at other reviews, I think this is how the landlord actually is 😬. I will come again and update my review, if I find this is simply for jest 😂😂😂 as I would love to give this a five-star rating 😎

Fantastic evening, great real ales, what's not to like

Absolute gem of a pub. So much history, character and charm. Wonderful management who made the visit warm and welcoming. Dog friendly. Lots of quiet nooks and crannies to chill in. If anyone visiting UK want to see a fantastic example of a historic pub - this is the place to go!

Just popped in for a drink.and very enjoyable. Would recommend.

Food was fine, the atmosphere was great popped in to watch some live music. HOWEVER researched the pub on fb and I’m saddened to see the owner sharing misogynistic and racist opinions on social media, and think himself funny, made us reluctant to return there, people need to be more self aware and remember they’re always representing their business ect

Landlord Jim is a legend. Nice bloke. Nice beers. Even nicer beer garden. If you’re in the area stay away from Spoons and Limes on the hi street and give The Elephant a visit.

Popped in here for a couple of beers late on a Sunday afternoon. Staff and customers were welcoming and that was what gave the place a great atmosphere. We didn't try the food or the garden (it was raining hard), but the beer was well kept and as a free house there was a variety to choose from. Well worth a visit.

Went in at 1550 and stumbled out just before 10pm for a train home. Brilliant selection of ales and nice cider too. Lovely boozer.

This is a real find! Great selection of constantly changing real ales & not a Shepherd Neame offering in sight. It's pretty small & compact but a very warm welcome awaits. Go out of you way to visit

Lovely independent local pub. The staff and Landlord Jim are fantastic. Great selection of drinks as well. Good sized function room for parties etc and a lovely garden at the rear for relaxing. Would definitely recommend a pint or 2 if you're visiting Faversham. 😀 👍👍

Well worth a 20 min train from Medway for a good range of five excellent quality ales on a Thursday evening. Always worth a visit.

It felt as thought the pipes hadn't been cleaned through properly. Pints tasted a bit funny

On entry a very warm welcome from landlords and polite with covid protocol asked whether in or outside drinking on entering gardens small but idealic plenty of shade I.e parasols as very hot day over all a pleasant public house to visit again

Called and asked "do you serve food?" The guy said "no" I said "alright no problem" he interrupted "WE DON'T SERVE FOOD WE HAVE NEVER SERVED FOOD ITS CALLED THE ELEPHANT PUB NOT ELEPHANT RESTAURANT". First of all, you're preaching to the choir, I'm the last person to expect all pubs to do food, I'm a CAMRA member and I love a traditional pub and real ale. I would understand his reaction had I complained or had a bad attitude after he said no. We were just calling around to see where to get food for the evening as we were visiting faversham and hadn't been to this pub before. We really wanted to visit either way because the beer selection looked great! But the aggressive attitude put us off. I was only asking mate.
