The best restaurants in Chartham and Stone Street Canterbury South East

Beautiful traditional pub, friendly hosts and atmosphere, nice ale, pool table, darts board, would spend a lot of time here if this was local to us.

The bar itself is quite big which doesn't lend itself to a very comfortable and spacious customer area. It's quite bright, the decor isn't bad, think 90's wine bar. It was quite busy when we went, and we had to ring the doorbell and wait for a not inconsiderable time to be let in, which doesn't feel particularly welcoming. I'm not sure if it's the norm or only at high volume times. Once inside the atmosphere is very 'local' (read cliquey) so you very quickly start to feel out of place. We went in winter, and only stayed for one drink so didn't see the garden which is apparently fabulous in the summer. Perhaps we'll give it a second chance then.

Nice and cosy, but I would like a bit more variety of plates

We stopped yesterday 7 June and had the most delicious cherry and almond scone and coffee. Absolutely amazing quality was so fresh and the couple running the coffee shop were so welcoming and friendly. Looking forward to going again

We had a table booked for 10 people at 13 -30 but due to us getting the bus timetables wrong we arived nearer to 14-00 And was welcomed by the staff we all had a great lunch .top of the food was the hunters chicken that my wife said was the best hunters chicken that she had ever had Thanks for your curious service

First visit here. Went for a celebration and it was 'Steak night'. Quite busy for a Tuesday, booking highly recommended. Despite an open fire, it wasn't the warmest of places. Great food 😋 Great service 👏 Will be going again soon 👍

Very nice poached eggs here today for breakfast. I also noted lovely salads and amazing patisserie’s for future visits. Nicely cooked and presented So pleased they do Sourdough toast! Staff very helpful and friendly.
