We stopped yesterday 7 June and had the most delicious cherry and almond scone and coffee. Absolutely amazing quality was so fresh and the couple running the coffee shop were so welcoming and friendly. Looking forward to going again

I came here with my husband and son and we has a cheese toastie, some toast and a scone along with a couple of cappucinos and a babycinno, all for £20! The scones were the highlight, we shared a cherry and almond scone and it was exceptional! The coffee is amazing. The only thing that would make it better is a full English on the menu. Overall, very good food for a really reasonable price! We'll definitely be back!

Lovely, friendly staff. Visited around a month ago and had a great full English breakfast. Now, there is a very limited menu of bacon / sausage roll, ham / cheese toastie, scones. Such a shame as the previous offer was great. Again, this review is no reflection of the staff working in the cafe who are very friendly.

A big disappointment. Took visiting family for breakfast. Very expensive. £12.95 for 2 sausages, 2 rashers bacon, 1 tomato, hash browns. My grandson ordered this snd asked for 2 extra sausages & extra rashers and no tomato. Of course we'd pay. The Cook said' I can't do that, it's a set breakfast, I can't design a breakfast!!' My grandson was upset by this silly answer. Went out the cafe. I said -' We're not asking you to design a breakfast, just add a couple of things snd leave out the tomato '. We won't be going again. Coffer was good.

Lovely coffee shop and very friendly staff. I must say the scone was the biggest I have ever seen and it was delicious! The breakfast was really good too and quick to be served. Would definitely recommend a visit

There’s something about the full English that will always appeal to my tastebuds, but it’s usually too rich. Poppies offers different varieties and it was lovely. Just the right portion and super-fresh. Wonderful crew. ❤️

I phoned ahead of our visit to ask if dogs were allowed in the cafe and I was told they were. When we sat down at one of the tables, a female staff member asked us, abruptly, to move in to a separate section of the cafe with no "please" or "thank you" and no explanation for this request. When I asked her colleague if we had been asked to move because of my dog she said it was (this had not been explained to me on the phone). After a while the rude staff member came over and practically dumped two menus on the table with no smile and no interaction whatsoever. My parents and I felt really unwelcome and found her extremely hostile so we decided to leave. As we were leaving, I double-checked with the other staff member (who was texting on her phone) if there was a problem with my dog being there. She said there wasn't so I said that I found her colleague to be very unwelcoming. My mother, who was behind me, said she heard the girl reiterate this, sarcastically, to the older colleague and we could then hear them laughing like a couple of immature, bitchy schoolgirls. An absolutely disgusting way to be treated. Rude, unwelcoming and unprofessional. These 2 staff members couldn't have been more different to the pleasant staff in the Garden Centre.

I went to poppies yesterday at 3.30, I had checked that they were open. Thompsons nursery is open until 5.30, Poppies it said open until 4.30. Although now I go back in below the general opening times of 9.30 - 4.30 it had Mon-Sun listed as 9.30-4.00. We chose to have toasties only to be told that they don't serve hot food after 3, o,k, we said we'll have a sandwich, no they don't do that either only a scone or piece of cake. They need to state that on the website and how a sandwich counts as hot food I don't know. Such a shame and what a missed opportunity. I have given 2 stars as it was clean and warm, but won't be visiting again.

Called in for a late breakfast/early lunch and had a very tasty All Day Breakfast. The sausages and bacon were excellent quality and the eggs (both fried which my wife chose, and poached as I had) were cooked perfectly. Add mushrooms, baked beans, nicely grilled tomatoes and toast for a very satisfying breakfast or brunch. Add to this good tea/coffee and friendly, efficient service and you have the recipe for and enjoyable experience, not forgetting the setting amongst the displays of flowers in the garden centre.

My wife and I called in on the 'off chance' as we were diving past in the car. Lovely warm scones just out the oven and a very nice toasted cheese and ham sandwich and a baked potato with cheese. An abundance of cheese! Simple and tasty food with a real 'home made' feel. Ideal 'stop off' if you are driving by or visiting the garden center. We'll certainly call in again if we are nearby. Cheerful service. Recommended.

There were three of us. One beans on toast on white; one beans on toast on brown with an egg on top; one cheese on toast. When the three meals arrived, the beans were in separate tiny bowls (and luke warm); the cheese "on toast" was grated and in a separate bowl and cold.. We sent the cheese on toast back and said "put it on the toast and grill it!" It arrived with the grated cheese on the (by now cold) toast and still grated and barely grilled. When we complained to the Garden Centre Manager, he told us they had ALWAYS cooked it like that but when we pointed out we came on a regular basis and it has always been properly cooked and presented he said "We have changed because peope wanted to put the beans and cheese on the toast themselves!! Well, a message for HIM and the Cafe. NEVER AGAIN

My wife and I visited Thompson’s Garden Centre yesterday. Whilst there we went for coffee in Poppies. What a great venue. It’s very clean and pleasing to the eye. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They have a comprehensive menu to suit all tastes and more importantly very reasonably priced. I had one of the best bacon sandwiches I have had for ages. Poppies is well worth a visit if you are passing and you will not be disappointed.

The scones are on the large side, to say the least. First time we had the Teacher had one each, and brought scones home. So now we share, and it's more than ample. Sensibly priced too. The other meals look to be good too, but we've never sampled them.

We came here with my mother and my niece on Saturday and it was really hot. My poor niece was thirsty and they wanted £2.00 for the water which I declined because that's a rip off. The garden centre though is great I got some fab plants for the garden which I will plant for mum when I mow the lawn a large pot of yellow daisy plant, mix of Cinderella for 99p each quite enjoyed it. I find gardening very stress relieving and I love mowing the lawn and even fancy the odd bit of weed pulling. Oh the satisfaction I get, how sad am I.

Nice ambience and friendly staff. Bagels..... But little else on offer. That said my crushed avocado 🥑 and smoked salmon was spot on. It just needs a menu that offers more variety.....
