Great service from everyone, A lovely breakfast and my favourite flat white.

I have been frequenting the Ali Raj ever since it opened and always been happy with the food when ordering a chicken dish. On this occasion I went for Lahori Jhal Machli, which is grilled fish with prawns. The sauce and prawns were fine but the fish, supposedly cod, consisted of bits of skin and no white fish. Very disappointed.

Primarily a bar students frequent, so it's perfect to meet people of similar age if you're in your youth! There are many drink menues, such as duck shots, and a Super Mario themed menu. The bar also has a game console with some games you can play! Fantastic atmosphere with friendly staff, with outdoor seating too.

Came for tea on Saturday night. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, good selection of beers and the food was amazing. I can’t stop thinking about the half a roast chicken. We will be back.

Slightly unusual review because it wasn’t me who visited! My mum and her husband visited for lunch this week to celebrate their anniversary and I contacted the restaurant to organise to pay the bill for them. It was tricky because they hadn’t actually booked a table. The gentleman I spoke to on the phone was so helpful, he identified them and went above and beyond to make sure I was able to pay for their meal and couldn’t have been more accommodating. My mum said their meal was delicious and also commented that they’d had lovely service and a very nice chat with the owner which really personalised their experience. Great customer service goes a very long way and this was definitely worth writing a review about!

We've been going here for years and it used to be great but it is simply awful now. On our last visit we had to clear a table so we could sit somewhere. We only go now because of the 'free' coffees you get with the Dobbies Club but as the filthy state of the cafe and uncleared tables just wind us up we are probably going to cancel that next time round. The cafe just looks completely unloved and un-cared for. I don't blame the staff so much as the management - the few that there are must be completely demoralised.

Visited for a Christmas lunch today. The picture on display looked very good and we have enjoyed food at Dobbies in the past so thought we'd pay the £15 each and treat ourselves. We were so disappointed when we saw the plates. Barely cooked insipid looking food. The only thing which was good on the plate were the hot roast potatoes. The sliced turkey was just ok. There were barely cooked parsnips and whole carrots. The stuffing was missing from my daughters plate. The pigs in blankets were a huge let down. Far from the crispy sausages on the picture the sausages had not been browned at all and were wrapped in barely cooked bacon they tasted awful and I only managed a small bite. The gravy was very watery to say the least. I would have been embarrassed to serve it to be honest. We ended up leaving most of it and should really have asked for a refund but were just glad to leave. Won't be visiting the restaurant again unless it improves drastically.
