Ali Raj in Fylde

I have been frequenting the Ali Raj ever since it opened and always been happy with the food when ordering a chicken dish. On this occasion I went for Lahori Jhal Machli, which is grilled fish with prawns. The sauce and prawns were fine but the fish, supposedly cod, consisted of bits of skin and no white fish. Very disappointed.

Had a family meal here, for the first time, and we were thrilled, with the food and service. They made one curry extra hot to suit one in our party, and she said it was the best curry she had ever eaten. The staff, were extremely pleasant, we did not wait long at all between courses, and was a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Would recommend to anyone x

Staff welcoming plenty of seating and as always great food. On this occasion the onion Bhajis were not as good as last time so we mentioned this but otherwise the food doesn't disappoint. Its freshly made to order so if you don't mind waiting. Starters and dips delicious. There is a larger bar area where you can your pre dinner drinks. Toilets clean as a whistle and easy accessible for those with mobility issues.

Always fresh yummy food! Recently we have only had takeaway (for obvious reasons) but its always delicious and there is always LOADS! The eat in service is always good and we are really looking forward to it opening fully again!

Why take on so many orders if you know you can’t handle it and don’t have the staff to cover the orders? Yet again we have pre-ordered/booked and still waiting over an hour later. Your food is lovely and good value but you really need to work on the service and learn from mistakes!!

My go-to Indian takeaway! After try a few local places to the North of Ali Raj, I am always left going back here. The food has taste and the curries taste different. I usually get a jalfrezi but I had some of the karai last time and it was amazing! Great service both inside and takeaway!

We are so lucky to live close by to this great restaurant. The food is consistently wonderful and we love the new take away service.

The food was absolutely geourgous xx chicken tikka shaslick madras vegetable curry sauce , chicken tikka balti koria and garlic nan bread. You will not be disappointed excellent service and food. We will return

We had a table of four on the last Wednesday of the eat out to help out deal. The food was really good quality and massive portions. Unfortunately, there were clearly massive issues with organisation or staffing levels as things were very slow. It took 2.5 hours to complete the 2 course meal. I did feel for the staff as they were all very polite and working hard, but clearly swamped. To the customer shouting his head off at the staff, you need to learn some manners. Looking forward to coming back when things and quieter. And maybe the management need to look at timings or something as the staff were trying. See you soon.

Waited 1 hour 30 mins for the starter didn’t even get our drink. Bad service, waited so long don’t recommend!! Ignored us when we kept asking for our drinks, starters were cold and not done too the usual standard, the food was not fresh and was put into the micro wave, they put us in a corner that was not visited by service much and when they came over they ignored us or told us they’d bring our ordered a and drinks over but walked off halfway through the conversation which is very unprofessional, we are long going customers but this was such crappy service that we won’t recommend or go again and once we reached the 2 hour point of not having drinks or proper food we decided that we’d leave and as we were leaving we saw people how arrived after us on their main course with drinks and some had more people in there group than we did

What a lovely place. My family arrived (myself, my wife and our two year old) and felt welcomed from the off. Food was amazing, really fast service and beautiful. Best of all was how amazing it was to eat in a place that welcomed our young girl so well. We arrived at the table and baby seat was set up without us even having to ask. Service was speedy and nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend.

We have just been back to this lovely Indian restaurant for the second time, and it just got even better. The menu is quite extensive and the quality of food is extremely high. Very attentive service and good social distancing is adhered to at all times. Chefs specialities are to be recommended. There is nothing not to like about this establishment. I can only encourage you to try it for yourself!

on arival we was told to sit in the reception area, this was a smart tactic to make the most of ordering drinks whilst you work out what your having. i didnt mind because i love a pint, looked abit aged and dossy at first at the front of house waiting area but when you enter the main room you get to see how big the establishment really is and can understand the amount of up keep it would take. - once your a couple of rounds in and have figured out what you want your then seated at a table. once the food had arrived my starter came with the main at the same time. therefore clased as another main. (even tho i wanted it as a starter- for my starter) so i had a hell of a lot to eat. having said that the food was nice but lacked spice, the vindaloo was more jalfrazi hot (spice wise) the bombay aloo was good. price wise it was a bit heafty to say it was on the eat out help out sceme. thought they blagged the price up abit. staff lacked personality and their shirt and trousers were dirty asif its their 1 only set of uniform. all in all i wouldnt go back. theres better indian restaurants that charge the same price when full price. Bearing in mind this was supposed to be on the eat out help out sceme seemed a blag price guestimated.

We are regular visitors to the Ali Raj. Recently due to Corona they have not been open so we have tried others. So disappointed. Nothing compares. So we were so happy they reopened tonight for takeaway. We were given complimentary popadoms and our food was just perfect as ever. We’ve missed you Ali Raj.

I visited Ali Raj with my son and my wife on my son's recommendation. This was a flying visit and it was getting late and we were hungry. The food was excellent and the restaurant is modern, with a few touches of Indian and Pakistani culture. We will definitely go back next time I go to visit my son.

Tonight i had a vegetable dansak (takeaway) and this was tasty and hot (temperature). I arrived early and the food was made available early. As a family we have eaten in and had takeaway over recent years, selecting vegetarian and non vegetarian options. Food and starters are always good hot and promptly available.thanks K

I attended with friends on NYE and yes there were some issues with shortage of staff and long waiting times, but our food was up to the usual high standard. Totally agree with the previous review - you have 2 choices and we decided to stay and did get our food and enjoyed it. The team at the Ali Raj did their best on what was a challenging night for them. I will return to this fab restaurant - every other visit I have experienced outstanding service and food.

Visited on December 31st with family all together 7 of use Ordered drinks as we entered waited over an hour with no drink or order taken. Service and organisation was non existent. We left early after our only drink came after an hour. Total horrendous and will never go back.

OK, this won't be a character assassination.I attended the restaurant on 31 Dec 19 and experienced a fair number of the issues reported by other diners.For whatever reason, the staffing levels were well below that required to deal with the number of covers and takeaway orders. This meant the drinks service was very slow, and the food service wasn't much more efficient. You've got 2 choices in this situation: make the best of it, or kick up a fuss.We went for the former option and eventually our food did make it to us. I have to say the mains were absolutely outstanding. The hari mirchi was sensational.At the end of our visit, the restaurant stood our entire drinks bill and the food bill was also healthily discounted.So yep, it was a bit of a learning curve for the staff but in the end nobody died; and the comments from some customers to the staff were simply unacceptable.They messed up. Does it really matter? I'll go back there again.

Me and my family (4) booked a table here for 8 o’clock, we were told to be seated in the waiting area and a drinks order would be taken. 45 minutes later and still no drinks order was taken. Numerous people had left in the mean time due to booking at 7 and they still had no table. We waiting for an hour in total to even be seen to and still heard from no one so ended up disappointed, hungry and having to look for somewhere else to eat on New Year’s Eve at nine o’clock at night. Will never be returning again. The organisation of this restaurant was a complete shambles and they had ridiculously over booked the property. Disgraceful.

Went here for Christmas dinner (2019) and didn’t have a curry I had the traditional Christmas dinner and it was very good. As you can see by the pictures there was plenty on the plate of which I never finished it. Wasn’t sure about an Indian restaurant making an English meal but it was excellent can’t fault it. It was quite full but things ran smoothly no problem. Would I do this again have an English dinner form an Indian restaurant probably not but it was very good. The rest of our group all had an Indian meal and it looked fantastic.

Enjoy the ambience, the service, the quality of the food, the professionalism and friendliness of the staff. Regular visits never disappoint.

Just back from another fabulous meal here. The new back room is open and looks lovely. Very friendly and polite staff and never had a bad meal. Highly recommend you try it.

We read the online reviews and thought this place was going to be amazing, but sadly it wasn’t.

Certainly the worst takeaway ever. I ordered a chicken tikka jalferzia, something I had enjoyed previously on many occasion. I had complimented the staff on their excellent service and food. However this time round the food was cold, bland and sweet and totally the wrong consistency for a jalferzia. So I decided to ring and explain the man who I spoke to said that's the way it comes we still got same chef and as for my food being cold that was my fault as I had picked my food up after my desired time apparently half an hour late which I was told 8pm and I arrived at 7.45pm and had a drink. Wasn't offered an apology or to come pick-up an replacement curry. Will never be returning.

Living locally, this was our second visit to this restaurant. Our first visit, a few months ago was great, the service, the staff, the food was excellent. Decided to have another evening meal there yesterday. (we have also used its take-away sevice)

Me and the mrs had a last min opportunity to go out without the kids, so decided we fancied an Indian. We are newish to the area, therefore not tried many restaurants. Of the 3 Indian restaurants in the area we settled on trying here.

Visiting friends in the north so we booked for 8 people at 7pm.

First time we have been to Ali Raj. We picked up a takeaway and it is the best Indian food we have had since moving here 2 years ago. Great price too! Thank you

Great takeaway on the Fylde coast. Best Indian in Kirkham, Lytham and surrounding areas. This is also a restaurant however we’ve never eaten in. Brilliant curry and reasonably priced.

Came here for a surprise birthday meal with friends and a baby, starters were at the table when we were seated and as soon as we were finished starters, our main course arrived which was delicious, definitely recommend the chicken tikka massala, best I have had in a long time.

ABSOLUTELY LOVE COMING HERE. Curries are always spot on, service very good. Can't wait to visit again!

Came here after a quick look for curry houses in Kirkham, it’s an old converted pub so a good layout and plenty of tables, I had the balti chicken tikka korai, it’s was amazing I asked for madras strength and it was perfect not crazy hot, vegetable rice and the best Peshawari naan, they serve draft cobra and it’s a decent pint not dish water, Monday to Thursday you can choose from the 3 course special £10.95 or go off the main menu, staff are ok and the place was nice and busy with takeaways too, I know my curry and this is very very good and up there with some of the best, give it a try it’s good

Over the years I have been quite a few times to the Ali Raj and have never been disappointed with the food or the service. Having eaten in most of the Indian Restaurants on the Fylde Coast and Preston I can definitely say in my opinion this is the best one. Highly recommended!!

8 of us went to Ali Raj to try somewhere different in Preston for a decent curry. Well it's a shame we wasted our time!

Visited tonight, probably 3rd time in last few months.

Decided to go out for an Indian last night, opted for the Ali Raj, good decision, very much improved since our last visit. Service was spot on, as were the starters and mains, the tikka was superb as was the passanda,

Was recommended to try this place so we did tonight but will never return. Took 20 minutes to be asked for drinks orders on arrival. Eventually shown to our table after about 35 minutes. Finished our poppadoms and waited and waited. We were asked if we would like more drinks which didn’t turn up. We were asked again and they still never arrived so had a quiet word and the drinks finally came and were ‘on the house’.

We had a lovely meal at Ali Raj for the first time recently and were pleasantly surprised by how nice the interior of the restaurant is as the outside looks a little run down during the day when not lit up.

We WERE regular customers at Ali raj and have been for years, when it was run by the old owner and they had great staff. I admit you cannot complain about the food, as it’s spectacular. But the service by the new staff members is absolutely terrible. 45mins/1hour we were waiting for a takeaway!!!! 25 minutes for a drink to even be ordered. Absolutely shocking. It’s a shame because the place is great. If they don’t change there staff, or up there game there gonna loose customer extremely quickly!

Ali raj delivered excellent cheerful and helpful service.the food was excellent and the opinion is the same of the friends I went with.were going again next month.

Chicken Tikka Balti, mixed Biriyani, dips & garlic naan....all delicious & very tasty. But we also ordered poppadoms which tasted stale, greasy.. as if they had been cooked in oil that was old. However, would recommend this restaurant as the food is very good.....just might give the poppadmos a miss next time.

Myself and my 3 children decided to go for an Indian and not been here so thought we'd try it out! They didn't look too keen on me being with 3 children(they're well mannered and well dressed might I add) and seem to rush us through and constantly come to our table to see if we had finished which I felt rushed and uncomfortable, we still paid the same as others and we sat quiet so unsure why we was so rushed! For that reason I wouldn't be keen to go again which is a shame as the food was lovely and plentiful, if only they were more family friendly it would have been perfect

We had never visited here before - albeit we live locally however will certainly be visiting again and also use the takeaway service.

Had a take away. Delicious! Prompt service and tender chicken in a tikka masala. Would definitely get another meal from this Indian restaurant. Very good value for money.

Just been here with my partner for the first time one of the best meals I have had a little more expensive than the one we normally go to but the quality of the meal was much better, we shall definitely be returning

Prices are well pricey and do not match with the products, we waited ages for our food and when it arrived it was cold! The takeaway also added a bottle of wine which we didn’t ask for and added it to bill won’t go/call again. Rude staff.

Visited just before Christmas on a Thursday evening about 5pm. Very attentive staff, we had several small dishes between two, all came soon enough, very tasty, hot and absolutely amazing we polished everything off. I’ve always wanted to try the Saag Paneer and I’m glad I tried it first here it was superb. Definitely recommend, thank you.

A good takeaway with plenty of choice. Don’t order too much as they give you a lot. Also good if you like your food hot / spicy.

Fab food, great atmosphere felt a bit rushed with the main course and everybody’s plates were cleared away whilst one of our party was still eating.... staff bought cake out as asked

14 of us went out for a meal staff and the restaurant very nice food was ok eaten here before as a couple never had a problem with the food perhaps it could of been the choices that some asked for they where very nice about it but I must admit could and should of been much better

We frequently visit here and can never fault. Friendly welcoming service from all members of staff. Always make an effort in trying to talk to our children which is great to see. Highly recommended and can cope with big parties too.

I’ve been coming to Ali Raj for a while now and the service has always been exceptional. The staff here are lovely, very welcoming and always very friendly! It adds to the service when they remember you also. The last few times I’ve been in they’ve had a new flavour of Gin available and again remembering me offer me the new Gin to try.

I’ve often driven by the Ali Raj and last night my wife and I were looking for somewhere to eat (about 7pm).

An early meal for two at 5.45 yesterday. Restaurant warm, clean and as welcoming as ever. Staff extremely attentive without being O.T.T. Order taken promptly, drinks arrived instantly and within minutes we were shown to our table. We both ordered the ' early evening meal' plus poppadoms and a pickle tray ( replenishments were provided instantly on request ). The entire meal was faultless and came exactly as it was requested. eg. extra chillies on one, while the lamb pathia was outstandingly good, I submitted a somewhat critical report on a restaurant last week, which I considered to be a fair reflection of our experience. The evening we spent at the Ali Raj was the exact opposite, we found no fault with staff, service or quality of food. As for quantity, well ,after being well and truly stuffed, the remainder of my meal was ' bagged-up' and I look forward to my tonight's evening meal with relish..

We come here a lot but have never wrote a review for it. We visited tonight as a family and our bellies are full after having lovely food and friendly service. My partner comes every Friday with his friend and we come together often. First time the in laws had been and they said it was scrummy. It is a bit of an understated hidden gem really and more people should come to try it. It’s clean and well presented with quality food. Price is fab for Sunday menu and for mid week menu. Get yourself there.

I booked 10 of us in for my Daughter's 21st. Everything started very well and just got better. This is the best place for Indian food by a long way. We had a wide variety of dishes. Each one was cooked perfectly and tasted delicious.

Couldn't reccomend this place enough! Me and my partner have been here a few times now and could never fault anything there, speedy service and fast, tasty food and a reasonably priced to boot. Staff are really friendly and attentive to our needs, always leave a tip as they do such a good job at looking after their customers. Its by far the best and our favourite Indian restaurant we've ever been to.

We went to this restaurant following a recommendation. We were told that it was brilliant and it was. We were made welcome, shown to our table, and were looked after brilliantly. Our order was taken quickly and the food was excellent. What made it more impressive was that the place was busy but the staff worked quickly efficiently and with a smile.All in all it was a very nice evening.

We use this restaurant at least once a week for either a meal in or a takeaway as we love it so much, but unfortunately we had such a bad experience on our last visit I don’t think we will be back for a long time.

Very disappointed only 5 tables in and it took 1 hour 15 minutes from ordering to getting starters. Food only warm and full fat. Kebabs cold in middle and onion bargee full of fat. Main courses took another hour not just our table but everyone. Yet they were taking and completing takeaway orders first. Main course tandoori dry and overcooked. Very poor and expensive experience. Sorry will not be back.

was ok not cheap but average,reception was poor young lad a newby again seemed out of his depth...ordered service just okay they seem to have a lot of new faces serving food some seem unable to talk

There were a few mix ups with the drinks, and one waiter leaned across the table rather abruptly so some of the younger waiters are needing a bit of finesse. However, the food was magnificent - subtle and tasty. Shows how rough and ready some of the cooking in other restaurants can be. Very impressive - as ever.

We've been coming to this restaurant for some time now. The reason? its the best in Lancashire. The service is fantastic. Very friendly, polite and always there to help. The food is out of this world. When we took some friends they said the food was on another level compared to other local Indians. Looking forward to our next visit.

Absolutely brilliant restaurant. We have never had less than a cracking curry. The staff are very friendly and helpful. If you are in the area it is not to be missed.

I Tried this place for a takeaway as the Indian takeaways are not the greatest round Kirkham. I will never go back to another Indian apart from this one now as the standard is always consistent and so flavourful. you can taste that they use better quality products than the others. keep up the good work. I have a chicken and lamb dopiaza with a keema rice and its always amazing.

Nice welcome when we went in. It's very large and so if not busy feels very empty. Prob good for a big party. Food is average but very large portions. Good average value.

We are regular visitors to Ali Raj, the service and food are excellent. Staff always friendly without being pushy. Whether it's off the main menu or the set menu there is plenty of choice.

The best Indian meal I've ever had. Super-tasty and fresh. The only criticism is that there were no napkins on the tables. They really need to put some on.

Had yet another exceptional meal on Sunday evening - I chose my usual Chicken Balti Jalfrezi and Boiled Rice. My husband had the Chicken and Chips.

We went Saturday early evening but have been few times midweek too. The staff are always extremely friendly and attentive. Its a very pleasant and clean restaurant and the food choice is varied and excellent, always arrives well presented and hot.

Went on a Sunday night, pretty quiet, but the ambiance was still nice. The staff go out of their way to be helpful and give recommendations and the food was outstanding, with nice sized portions. Would definitely recommend going.
