Ships and Giggles in Fylde

Primarily a bar students frequent, so it's perfect to meet people of similar age if you're in your youth! There are many drink menues, such as duck shots, and a Super Mario themed menu. The bar also has a game console with some games you can play! Fantastic atmosphere with friendly staff, with outdoor seating too.

Extremely Rude doorstaff here. Henry needs to get accquainted with some customer service courses. arrived here after a date night, in the pouring rain to be frisked with a wand. it was not properly explained by Henry as to what position he wanted me to stand for him to thoroughly do what he needed, and being a licensee myself, had nonissue with him carrying out his job. He asked me to empty all pockets, which I gladly did however he turned sour and said that because I was asking questions as to what position he wanted me in, that I was being uncooperative. he asked me where I was hiding the 'gear' to which I asked him what he meant by gear. having never taken cocaine in my life and not knowing what he meant, he simply turned us away and said that we were there to sell and that we were too uncooperative. as someone who frequents the Ships and Giggles with members of staff from a local pub, and as someone with a licence myself, aswell as being regularly drug tested at work, how he can come up with these stupid accusations is beyond me. His alluding to us carrying weapons and drugs and simply deciding on who can and can't come in was completely unnecessary and for this, I won't be visiting this establishment again. he should maybe focus on those he does let in the establishment that peddle their illicit wears and spoil it for others, but for two gay guys wanting to have a drink at the end of a date was simply horrendous and uncalled for and in his eyes necessary. we must have looked so threatening on walking up to the venue holding hands.. what a complete idiot he is.

Ships And Giggles - Preston A large bar at the heart of Preston’s UCLAN (University Of Central Lancashire) campus. Nice atmosphere, staff and punters, dark, and boasting a much used pool table. There are way too many promotions for drinks and events and menus to take in. You can barely see tables for the large laminated pizza menus, cocktail lists, shooters lists and other stuff. Sadly the pub is bereft of real ales too. The menu seems to be a choice of pizza, pizza or pizza and not much else. I like pizza but more variety would be welcome.

One of the best if not the best pub in preston. Been going here for years and the place is a Staple of any student experience at UCLAN

Top night out, great selection of drinks really loved the pitcher section they have available. Tried one of their stone baked pizzas as well was amazing.

Visited here with some friends was fun and friendly music was good and I felt safe with the enforcement of Covid rules as was the first time I have been out since the pandemic. Drinks are cheap pizza is fresh I will be revisiting again

Best bar in Preston 10/10 service. The drinks and AMAZING! highly recommend a visit. The decor is amazing. I went with friends on a night out and the servers are lovely and it was an all around great experience.

I've got to be honest, I love this place. Sure, it's a little weathered and the tables have that permanent sticky feel, and the toilets have seen worryingly better days! but that never stops me when I'm in preston visiting friends at least once a month. With the constant drink deals and promo's its value for money as well as a chilled atmosphere, This place gets a lot busier in the late evening when the students come crawling out. They have the most professional doorman I've ever had the pleasure of meeting, Henry, I wish I had someone like him in one of my teams. The bar staff are super nice although occasionally you see the newer staff bumming around talking to their friends instead of working, and serving them first when you have been waiting sucks, but you will find that in most places and service is usually pretty good.  Easy parking nearby makes it a better choice than all the other tucked away drinking holes

Guys there are proud of the food they turn out and they should be. It’s not the cheapest food but well worth it. The ribs and the chips are perfect. We no longer have to put up with ribs that have chewy scraps on them. The ribs here are lean, tender, full of meat and full of flavour. Hopefully they will appear on the delivery menu soon. Everything else great too and love the gherkins and jalapeños served with the platter. Not a fan of white bread so like a flatbread or alternative option. 2nd visit and will return.

Heard great things about this place and got told the food has all been changed and I have to say it was great! The ribs were amazing!! It sadly the lighting is shocking, it sounds petty but the combination of the very loud music and low lights don't make for a good atmosphere. Either do a bar or do a restaurant. Might have to go back in the day time

The Ship and Giggles was recommended to me. I rang before to check if they could do Gluten free. They said most of the meats are gluten free but they couldn't garentee some cross contamination wouldn't occur due to the kitchen using flour. Dave was awesome very knowledgeable. I choose the smoked bbq ribs at £12.50 it came with fries jalapeños gerkins. The ribs were outstanding very tender. I couldn't have the table sauces as they have gluten in them. The portions, were huge. Can't thank Dave enough. We took a doggy bag home roll on lunch Tomorrow. My husband had the wings and sausage £12.99 photo attached. Yum yum will definitely be back

Incredible ribs. Far more meat than bone with no fat. Great smoked taste and tender. Everything else great too. I used to drink here when I was younger so had reservations about taking the family for food but was pleasantly surprised by the quality of what we had. Would have liked the top of mac n cheese more grilled. Plenty of condiments to suit different tastes. Will definitely consider getting takeaway when we next fancy some top end ribs. No kids menu but we got sharing stuff so was all good.

We heard about the new bbq menu on Facebook and thought we’d try it out... make no mistake, this isn’t fine dining, it’s a pub with about 8 tables but the food is awesome... we had the platter for two and I’d say the ribs were some of the best I’ve had, Smokey, tasty and huuuuge. The brisket was awesome, pulled pork tender and tasty, oh and I nearly forgot about the salt and pepper fries, I’d love the recipe for those... the portions were massive, too much for us to eat The staff were great, attentive and friendly, both the bar staff, who had to deal with some challenging customers, and the chef who really looked after us and made sure we were happy with the food If you like bbq, you should definitely try this place out sometime, they deserve to do well
