We were at a funeral that day for a family member who live on the next road, we took the kids in for a quick bite, food was nice, my son asked for a sausage sandwich without butter and he got one with, which the lady quickly sorted . Not expensive either.

Lovely spot with very friendly and attentive staff. Ordered afternoon tea for our dog which was a great touch. Only marking down as I was disappointed that my soup wasn't homemade. If I'd known I would have ordered something different.

Visited with friends on ourannual trip to St Annes. Plan was to have lunch and then have a look round the garden dept and buy a few autumn plants. Mosy outside seats were taken but several available inside. We chose the one that seemed cleanest, (can you see where I am going with this), ie, the one with only a few crumbs. We chose two small scampi and chips, an egg mayo sandwich and a 'wrap', all with garnish and/or chips. Nothing too challenging about that lot. We were told that there would be a wait of 25 minutes. This at around 1:00 pm. We waited. And we waited. We had a bit of verbal catching-up to do with our friends so it did not matter. Or at least not too much. After abot 50 minutes I went to ask about our order but could see that in the kitchen area our order was being plated- up. Drinks that had a rrived maybe4 40 minutes earlier had been long since consumed. After maybe another 5 minutes they were served to us. The lady asked who had ordered what, we told her and our respective orfers were placed in front of us. No mention of an apology or the wait or even 'enjoy your food'. Not even so much as a smile. In fact I have to say that the lady looked thoroughly p..... -off, as indeed were we. Now to the food. Our scampi's were sort of ok as were the chips. The wraps were so so. My wifes egg mayo butty lacked content. Miniscule ammount of egg was made-up by maybe too much mayo, but only in the sense of this being as a proportion of the whole. By this time there were few diners left. We opted not to have a sweet as godness knows how long we would have had to wait for this. A couple of points. 1. We were fairly certain that customers who had ordered much later than us were served much earlier. 2. There seemed to me to be to be an absence of working- to- a -common- purpose amongst the counter staff. (I used to be in staff supervision and management, though not in the catering industry I have to say). Not a good experince, and importantly, one we will not be repeating. By this point, time was moving on and wewanted to be enjoying the sea air, so no time to look round the garden section. We later had coffes and do-nuts at the pier cafe in St Annes. Pleasant and prompt service and possibly the best do-nuts I have ever had, a thoroughly pleasing experience. When I read past reviews, I notice a pretty common thread running through them. I also note that in no case have the management made a response. They certainly seem not to take any of them on board

We decided to go to the Shovels to try the two meals for £13.49 offer. We arrived at 17.45 as going to a show in Blackpool. On arrival we parked up and walking to the entrance we noticed that the bin near the wooden table was overflowing with empty boxes and waste, so much that it had spilled out all over the paving, not a good advert on first impression ! We entered the premises to try and find a table but nearly every table had a reserved sign on , apparently due to the fact there was to be a quiz at 20.00 hours but eventually we found a table for 2 which had not been cleared or cleaned (which we did ourselves) and ordered drinks and food at the bar , served by a pleasant friendly lady. We ordered the fish and chips deal which was served promptly and was very good and value for money, however we realised that we had no cutlery in the box so I went to try and find some but the bar staff were busy and no waiting staff seemed available so I went from table to table looking and eventually found a couple who had some on their table..and returned to our table to eat what was now warm as opposed to hot. All in all the food was good but the general cleanliness and customer care just took the edge off the occasion.

UPDATE...TO SAY YOU ARE THE OWNER IS SHOCKING THE WAY YOU SPEAK TO PAYING CUSTOMERS. WE HAVE BEEN BACK INTO THE SHOP AFTER YOUR FIRST ACUSTAION AND EVEN YOUR STAFF HAVE SAID YOU HAVE GOT IT WRONG AND IT WASNT US THAT WERE STEALING!!!! BUT YOUR STILL ACUSSING US AGAIN. IM SURPRISED YOU HAVE ANY CUSTOMERS AT ALL. SHOCKED is an understatement. Went to dotties this evening with my 2 children and partner. Ordered our food on the self checkout and sat and waited nearly 40 mins for our order which we had to shout over the counter and ask for as it was just sat under the headlamps. No at any point did any member of staff acknowledge that we were there. Food was OK but the wait was shocking. BUT then for the owner to respond to my partners review and presume we were the group that had been caught stealing from your shop and accused us off being that group is absolutely shocking. We have just been back to the shop to tell them that it's shocking and not really the best professional way to respond to customers and then tell us on your response that you don't want our custom anymore 🤣🤣 belive me I will not be spending anymore of my money in your shop. Shocking and so unprofessional.

Ordered x2 desserts, x2 milkshakes and a doggy ice cream at 10:30pm, waited up till nearly midnight with no delivery, emailed the restaurant in the morning who stated delivery was attempted at 11:32pm with 2 knocks and 3 miss calls this was a lie the calls was made at 11:59pm. Asked for a refund as the driver said he left the food on the doorstep with a pic although we had no food, the person I spoke to via email got a lil rude saying the driver had to leave on the door step as he had other deliveries to make even though the shop closed an hour before he called. Safe to say I won't order from here again

Ordered two meals and two hot drinks via a sullen faced female server. After a 20 minute wait on a quiet Tuesday asked for an update. A different sullen faced woman snapped that there was hot food ahead of us. One person ahead of us whose food came out after ours so who knows, everyone else was having cakes and drinks. Chicken BLT sandwich and chips looked good and was ok. My ‘gardeners Platter’ otherwise known as a Ploughman’s wasn’t so good. I slice of poor quality ham, 4 very thinly sliced pieces of almost flavourless cheese, one pickle cut in half, handful of salad, minus advertised watercress and a slice of white bread in place of the advertised chunk of bread. Don’t bother, choose something else. For almost £30 there is better by far in St Anne’s just up the road.
