The best restaurants in London

Came all the way down to taste their fish and chips after seeing it on the bbc news and It was better then expected

My family and I have been coming here for years. Having lived in India and Pakistan, we know Indo-Pakistani food. The cooking at Haveli is really good. Always warmly welcomed.

Big church like, a barn of a place, beautiful ceilings and mouldings...now a function venue.. Evidently not a function venue so don't try and book a wedding or anything there because it's not a function venue..,whoever's reviewing these reviews needs to calm down a BIT🤦

Freshly cooked fish and chips. Generous portions.

Batter on the rock was to thick and stodgy the chips were stone cold & hard worst we’ve had from here in a very long time!!!

What a great cafe, very friendly with fantastic service and delicious food, all our family and friends use this cafe and will continue to do so thanks guys

This is a great place to relax and 'lounge'. I have always found the staff to be friendly and attentive and the food to be simple but satisfying. Keep it up guys and girls!

My go-to place for dressed crab. I’m convinced it’s the best in London.

I had dinner here ordering their prix fixe menu with my partner. The wait staff are very nice and the food is tasty (though not extraordinary) and beautifully presented. In addition, there are a number of "free" amuse bouche items provided. However, the portion sizes from this menu are tiny. I'd say the portions are like tapas rather than a meal that will satisfy your hunger. But what really burnt my bunions was that when the bill arrived, it included a £1 charge for charity. I choose my own charities voluntarily and do not expect to be pickpocketed in a fancy, overpriced restaurant. If the owners want, they can donate to charity out of their pockets without imposing this on me with a sneaky addition to the bill. I believe it's inappropriate for a restaurant to sneak this on the bill, which would result in an embarrassing confrontation with the wait staff over it. I want to be asked to optoin rather than requiring me to opt-out. In addition, the bill had a 15% service charge, which, on top of their inflated prices and their £1 charity addition, really dented my wallet. A 12.5% service charge is the norm in London. 15% is ridiculous. There was no mention of the charity extortion or inflated service charge up front. No wonder they're closing the restaurant down. Even if they stayed open I'd never go back.

We decided to give another chance to this restaurant after few years break. Sadly nothing has changed, the food is tasteless,bland,unimaginative = complete disappointment. Two visits within few years with zero improvement are enough to never go back. It’s a shame because the service is good and restaurant is cute and cosy. EDIT: Thanks for your reply. I cannot believe the rave reviews for this restaurant by many people. They can't all be wrong. The restaurant is clean with a nice ambience. It is comfortable also the servers are knowledgeable and attentive.That is the good part. Having lived in various parts of India whilst growing up our house had 2 indian cooks and several other local helpers.The smells coming from the kitchen enticed me in where I helped the cooks in various ways. luring potatoes and cauliflowerWe ordered a variety of dishes that were ruined by the kitchen. My vegetables including potatoes and cauliflower could not be eaten with a fork, I HAD TO USE A SPOON. Also the spice and herb associated with this dish got lost on the way from the kitchen. The fish biryani was so overcooked that the rice was like splinters of wood.. Even the veg curry, all sauce and little veg did nothing to resurect it., Another person had a Korai dish, most unsatisfactory, and she remarked that it was the strangest Korai that she had ever had and she should know. Apart from our party of 4, the ly let the place down was empty and there were more servers than other customers. The kitchen staff badly jet the restaurant down and should return to India to enhance their limited cooking skills. I feel that other customers have experienced the A kitchen team where we experienced the Z team. There a few Indian restaurants around the general area that provide very good Indian fare and put this restaurant t shame. I would not return also I could not recommend anyone to waste money going there.

Absolutely lovely, tried Shampan for the first time for date night after hearing rave reviews and it did not disappoint int he slightest. Went with the recommendation from the staff. It was a gamble as I would stick to what I know but had the Lamb Sali, flavours and spices were amazing, the staff especially Abdur were very accommodating and very welcoming. We have definitely found our new Indian Restaurant. Look forward to going back.

Absolutely incredible food. A beautiful atmosphere and couldn’t have asked more from the service. A true gem of london

Beef was low quality and stir fry was tasteless. Skewers were ok, not amazing either. Don't get back.
