The best restaurants in Vicarage Watford East of England

We decided to have a takeaway the first we’ve had since being in lockdown. Wanted to try something new, I browsed just eat and came across this menu. My husband loves spicy food and I love Chinese so a fusion of Sri Lankan sounded good. Without thinking I placed the order and forgot to look at any reviews so got a little worried. I then browsed google and saw only good reviews so felt better. The food arrived 15-20 mins earlier than expected. The driver was polite and followed the message I left on the ordering site which always helps and rare. The food was hot, fresh and was actually amazing! All the food had its own individual taste and was the right spice. I ordered extra hot for him and it was perfect (warning he loves the hottest chillis) Will definitely be our new curry place as lived here for 2 years now and nothing has come close to this. Highly recommend. Didn’t get to take any pictures we had eaten it before I thought about it! Sorry not sorry

I love the place, it is nice and comfy, very homey. The menu is very good however what knocks it out of the park is the team! Ewa and the rest of the team really take it to the next level

Food was great and staff friendly and really good value for money. 1st time here and will be coming again when passing for work.

Truly deserves 5 stars in all aspects. Delivers what it says on the tin. Great ambience, bright, airy and modern in beautiful setting. Great cafe style food and wonderful service. Rocky our waiter was wonderful - very attentive and friendly. A hidden gem I would say.

The chicken was amazing came off the bone perfectly ; the guy let me try the wing for free so i could make up my mind wether I wanted to buy which without a doubt made me want to place my order. Absolute 5 stars would recommend if your looking for fried chicken in watford!!!

Amazing local family owned business. With great coffee that taste just great. Interesting food and pastries from Brazil and Portugal. With friendly atmosphere that sometimes feel bit overwhelming due to popularity of the place between local people. Definitely worth checking out and visiting. Anndrzej ☺️

I was excited to try jerk chicken from Happy Flavours since I love ordering takeaways, but unfortunately, I was really disappointed. The chicken was served with bones—a lot of bones. Almost half of the box, which was supposed to be filled with chicken and rice, was just bones. Even when I thought I had a proper piece of meat, I kept finding small bones while chewing. At one point, a bone got stuck in my tooth so badly that I now have an infection, and the pain is radiating to my head. I ordered the large portion, expecting a generous serving, but it was the same size as a regular portion from street food vendors. Given that half of the box was bones, it didn’t feel like good value for money. This was the first time I’ve ever received jerk chicken in this way—usually, it’s clean, boneless meat served with rice. The flavor itself was good, but the dumplings were inedible. My kids love dumplings, yet they refused to eat these because they tasted like pure flour. Overall, I was really let down by this experience. I won’t be ordering from Happy Flavours again.

Visited after the game today. Ordered a Full English no 2. Bacon, egg, sausage, beans, mushrooms and fried slice, along with a coffee. £8.50! All I I think. Got about 3 rashers of bacon, a nicely presented egg on top of th fried slice and about half a ton of nicely cooked mushrooms. Only complaint was that I couldn’t finish it so I felt bad! Really friendly people too so I’ll definitely be back!

My go to take-away for years. Never fails to provide hot, tasty & fresh food. Friendly service too.

June 2023 - Closed Down. Fantastic to see a new restaurant /takeaway open in the Vicarage Road Parade. Nice clean kitchen with lots of stainless steel surfaces. I tried a lamb Shawarma wrap very tasty. Also, I had a portion of Falafel very tasty too! Everything is freshly made, including the bread for the wrap. Highly recommended.

Lovely fresh tasty food and decent people -we ordered delivery and then my toddler has an accident and I had to drop everything and run to a&e. They were completely understanding and cancelled the delivery and even remade us hot food when we went in after it was all sorted and asked about our son. Really appreciated that and the food was amazing. Thank you x
