After reading about this bakery in the local paper I made a special trip to see what the bread is like. WOW! The best Portuguese Custard Tart I have ever eaten! There were amazing little quiches as well….to say nothing of the Rosemary Focaccia! What a find.. Worth the trip.

Quaint little pub with a cosy friendly atmosphere. Very welcoming staff. One of the best roast dinners I've had in a while. Will definitely make the trip to come back.

Have visited twice for lunch and both my guests loved the ambiance, service, quality of food was absolutely 5 star. Faultless and excellent value for money. Just wish they did Sunday lunch as I would be there at the drop of a hat

We had a lovely stay, myself, husband with our two small dogs. The reason we picked this hotel was because it was dog friendly and for the National Trust land and gardens. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. We had afternoon tea and also ordered the doggy afternoon tea which the dogs loved. Our room was huge, clean and we loved the decor. Breakfast was served quickly. We couldn’t fault our stay for what we paid, we will definitely be coming back in the warmer months.

The hotel and the grounds are lovely. The restaurant however is abysmal. we ordered two scones and a cheese and pickle sandwich. This took over 35 minutes and when the sandwich arrived it looked like it had been made by monkeys. Imagine 99% pickle oozing out the side of two slices of thin cheap bread. Couldn't see any cheese whatsoever. I honestly don't think this was prepared by a chef. The staff were clearly flustered, we could hear other tables complaining and I suspect someone just cobbled it together. Embarrassing.

Rude and very unfriendly staff , food was way below average , Has gone down hill over the years , just like many other national trust cafe , national trust sanwiches served in carboard packaging are simply awful , would recomend to take your own food and drinks because going to the cafe will ruin your day for sure

Booked lunch after seeing their widely advertised ‘Stone’s Throw Kitchen Menu’ promotion: 2 or 3 courses, locally sourced menu, complimentary glass of wine. But on arrival there was only a limited lunch menu of expensive snacks available. Staff said the kitchen had not been told of our booking for the promotion, staff didn’t seem aware of it, but it’s all on the hotel website and being advertised locally and on social media. I had a miniscule slice of tart for £10 very poor value. Disappointing.
