Cheapest place to get a filling tasty meal in Harpenden! Really affordable food using seasonal and fresh ingredients, served by friendly staff! A huge choice of sandwiches, salads, jacket potatoes, and hot meals for £6.95 (with veggie options) to eat in or takeaway. Just a short walk from harpenden town centre and a free visitors car park, also plenty of scenic walks to do from there.

Had a great meal, greek gyros and a steak with chicken, both meals were very filling and tasty. Service is always friendly here and for a Tuesday evening there were a lot of people which made for a great atmosphere.

We had a takeaway. Meat was so tough. The supposedly mild dishes are so spicy hot that I couldn’t enjoy it at all. Unfortunately I threw my food away. They used to be so excellent. Not using them anymore.

We had a lovely evening at The Lower Red Lion to celebrate our marriage, David and the lovely staff looked after our party of 35 and nothing was too much trouble, they went that extra mile to make our celebration evening perfect. The buffet was amazing and everyone enjoyed themselves. We can’t thank you enough.

We love this pub, its so friendly and relaxing, the staff are always so polite, and they go out of their way to be accommodating with the food, a real little gem of a pub with a fab garden!

Food took a while to get to us, but we really enjoyed our dinner. Thanks Keeley, our waitress for an amazing experience- she was great.

I do not often write reviews but because of the experience I had, I wanted to do so. The service was such a pleasure. In particular, the manager Carl was so polite, courteous, affable, always smiling and happy to spend a few minutes checking you were happy and to ask how we were. It was such a pleasure to have someone provide such engagement with you that I have had for a long time. Most places you go to you get the brief quick check up to see if everything is alright (as it usually is mandatory to do so by the place) which is often curt and less engaging. This time Carl provides a breath of fresh air and should be recognised for doing so. So do think again about going to any coffee chain in St Albans and enjoy a pleasant time at Bills in their very nice refurbished place in the centre. If Carl is working, all the better.

Food delicious, especially the chips! Great service too from Charlotte and Lewis. Had a burger too and it was brilliant!!! Good selection of drinks as well.

It appears this pub may have changed hands again. Was a Big Smoke pub, serving mostly their own beers. But recently they've changed their offering to more usual brands. Cosy pub with a recently refurbished garden area. Last time we ate there we had a lovely meal, very generous portions.

Wanted to join a pub quizz spontaneously tonight with my partner and it was quite tough to find a quiz around the area on a tuesday night. When calling this pub to check if they had one on, the person on the phone (sorry not sure who I spoke to) delivered a great customer service, was friendly and professional. When coming to the pub, we received a warm welcome by Sarah and she delivered an excellent service from the beginning. So did Ruby and the Italian lady. So thanks to you three! Joined the pub quizz hosted by Pete which was fab and will join again soon. The crowd had a nice vibe. The pub is cute, cosy and typically english looking which I love. The toilets were cleaned too👌🏻. We ordered food which was ok. Happy to discuss feedback directly with the team if they wish. Anyway, thank you all and we will be back!
