Harvester in St Albans

They initially got my order slightly wrong but it was rectified incredibly quickly. Our server Kelly was great! She is always friendly, personable and highly efficient. A very pleasant visit.

Really impressed with the service today l, I have couple of family members with food allergies, they made sure everything was done right. The service by Hayley was great!

The food and service I find is good. However in recent times I've found that items have not been on the menu. For instance, the coffee machine was broken one time so I had instant coffee but was charged full price. The following week I visited again and the coffee machine was still broken. I thought that was poor.

Friendly server called Kelly who was attentive and lovely, never rushed us. Our food was served in good time and with no mistakes across two courses.

Libby was excellent, super helpful and friendly.

Busy Sunday lunch and no booking but we got in ok, plenty of parking too. Staff are friendly and efficient. Salad bar was full and fresh. Food came quite quickly and was good, although sage and onion fries were nothing special! And ‘cornbread’ with ribs was odd. Enjoyed the food and the experience though.

Just returned from a wonderful meal with the family. Our daughter has food allergies and the staff were super at catering for her needs. Emily was a superstar! Will be returning again soon!

Food could of been a bit better, but Kelly was our server, who was fantastic and made sure that we had everything that we needed and made us laugh when paying the bill.

We went for breakfast, was quiet. We love tea, usually In a harvester We get a pot between 2 which lasts a small amount of time, this place brought over 1 cup each, which ment we had to keep asking for a top up, after 2 the service wasn't as good ( I think if we had been given a pot then we wouldn't have keep asking) food was ok.

I had some time to kill as my phone was having a new LCD fitted so came here for a bottomless coffee as well as a quick snack was served by a vert friendly Soraya and as I only have one working hand she quickly made me a cup of coffee and suggested a table and swiftly brought it over As I sipped my coffee she asked if I wanted a refill wow what excellent service I thought As my phone was in for repair, I did not know the time and told her I wanted to leave at noon, so she offered to warn me at noon which she duly then did.

Had a lovely lunch, Kelly our waitress was friendly and very helpful. Made us feel very welcome

Hayley and Libby provided a fantastic service during our visit today. First refill drinks were brought to the table, they checked everything was OK with our meals, and brought take away boxes and put special requests in to the kitchen for us. The steak was a good cut and cooked to perfection!

Our server Kelly was very polite and friendly as was the staff member who seated us.

Kelly our waitress was fantastic and couldn't do enough to make our visit brilliant. Food superb and even with minor grumble was sorted straight away no fuss or argument. As Harvesters go this one is one vest around country we have visited thanku Kelly and staff x

Sorry to say this but I will no longer be going to this place anymore, all the waitresses are great and food lovely. Since they have changed certain staff I think it has gone down hill. I get dirty looks by one new member of staff, I dont know her name but I’ve had enough, I gave her the benefit of the doubt as she was new, but she is still looking like me i am an alien. I’ve noticed this with other customers. I went in there with my neighbour and they noticed this also. Anyway I will find somewhere else to eat.

The only reason I have given a 3 star review is because of our lovely waitress Kaila- bubbly, cheerful, friendly & professional. Nice to see and a breath of fresh air ! I should have left a 1 star review on the waitress that served us previously,- her name is Lily- she dumped our menus on a dirty table, no greeting and had a very unprofessional and stinky attitude from that point onwards, grumpy, unprofessional and should not be allowed to work with an attitude like hers . 3 bitchy girls hanging around the till in 15 minute huddles bitching, I did point them out to the manager. Kaila- what a fantastic girl, she deserves recognition and reward. Food was average. I don’t think we will be returning anytime soon, there are better places to spend our money.

We had planned to go here on Sunday for a family meal, arrived and got sat on the smallest table for four people and when we asked for a bigger table, the waitress got an attitude because she had to check the bookings. After being able to sit on a bigger table, we ordered our meals and went to the salad bar, minimal salad on the salad bar and the only thing that was refilled was the low fat dressing. My mom had asked for the sauces on the salad bar to be refilled and was waiting half an hour for this. We finally got our food and my mums tempura prawns were cold and soggy, I had the bbq chicken stack which when I began eating had noticed the chicken was pink on the inside. We had told the waitress about this and she was lovely she apologised and took them off the bill offering something else but we did not want to eat. When leaving my mom had said to one lady who looked like a manager that the food was the worst she’s had in the time she’s been coming here to which she replied with an attitude “yeah whatever” and walked away. Overall, we do not recommend, the food is not good, we did not have a good time and we will not be returning.

Order was ordered just after 6pm. It stated food would be with us by 6.50pm. It continuously went up in time as to when the order would get to us and between 7pm -9.45pm it said the driver was at the restaurant. Our order never got delivered. I requested a cancellation around 7.30pm and have requested a refund.

Completely wrong order arrived! Ordered 2 salmon meals with veg & side order of breaded mushrooms. Unfortunately only 1 chicken/ribs meal arrived instead, minus the mushrooms too. 😬

Kelly was amazing host well looked after in a rush to return to work and assisted very quick to have our food to takeaway polite lady thank you for your help

My friend and I have been here a few times but I think this time may be the last. There were no jacket potatoes so we opted for rice which was tasteless until I added my peas and my friend added sweetcorn! There was no coffee, only instant as the coffee machine was broken! When the bill came we were charged for 2 courses when we only had 1, surely you only pay for what you’ve eaten and we decided against dessert? Not happy with this at all 😡

Kelly was a wonderful host! She was polite and prompt, despite it being a busy Saturday afternoon! Ancient Briton was a bit noisy but to be expected. Great food, especially enjoyed the vegetarian selection. Brownie is very dense and sticks your gums together, but if you appreciate that in a dessert then YAY!

Harvester was awesome landmark during our one-week trip across England. Thank you for helpfulness and amazing dinners that we looking forward. We value also your reasonable prices.

Good food and service. It was our waitress Libby's first day and she did very well. Also took advantage of 50% offer off our bill.

Don't go if you have peanut allergy! Went with my family for lunch and informed the waitress we had a peanut allergy on the table and placed our order based on the information available in the menu! However, when we checked the allergy disclaimer, it was stated that the food ordered did contained peanut! After complaining about the lack of consistency between the menu and the disclaimer, the solution offered was for us to eat somewhere else as "it'd be easy for us"! In summary, if they can be accountable for their kitchen/information when it comes to something as serious as allergies, I also suggest you avoid eating there and do go somewhere else!

Awful - waited for 10 minutes at front desk with queue of other guests behind me and staff just walked past and did not even acknowledge us. Tuesday night is Chicken Tuesday but last night (18/02/25) they did not have any chicken?? Salad cart drawers contents were very low and acompanyments (croutons, onion and bacon bits etc) were empty. Dressings tubs were dirty with old sauce running down the sides/ congealed on side of the containers and obviously haven't been cleaned for ages. No plates for rolls and no white rolls available. Morsels of food on floor where it had not been swept (rice, peas etc). Chef swearing loudly in kitchen when there were young children on table to one side of us and another chefs hair had fallen out of its net but he carried preparing food regardless. We waited nearly 40 mins for our main courses but walked out before they came when the table next to us were told the kitchen had run out of chips!! Unbelievable. How can a business operate in such a shoddy manor? This experience has put us off Harvester from now on.

Seven of us went for dinner this evening for my son's birthday. Waited about 45 minutes for the food which was very basic and unappetising. Salad bar very depleted and very unappealing. Bottles of Coke given without straws or glasses, Had to ask for cutlery. Service atrocious. Tried to overcharge on the bill. Never again!!

Took 2 hours for food and ran out of chips after ordering

A lot of the menu was not available, and then they ran out chips. Food was slow to arrive 1hr 40 minutes for the mains.

Went to this restaurant on Saturday for my birthday, restaurant table was freezing cold was very cold, our dinner was 1hour 15minutes late, my partners food was raw and uncooked, and then he was made to pay a tip.. we travelled a long way and did not enjoy this experience and wasn’t a nice meal for my birthday.

Have not been to harvester for a while and wont be going again any time soon.

Was really dissapionted seems to have gone down hill. The salad cart pasta was like dry hard rubber and potato salad looked shopped bought and other salad looked old. We had to send bowls, and glasses back for being dirty. My Gammon smelt funny and also no one had read my special request in the booking and that was also ignored when I came. Real shame about 10 years ago it was lush.

When we arrived we were turned away quite rudely and dismissed because we didn’t realise we had to book in advance. We went outside and found out that we could actually make a booking for the same date and there was availability within 10 mins. This made us confused as the staff member at the door could have just told us that. She ended up being our waitress. She was helpful and friendly after that however we had to wait ages for our mains which meant we lost our appetite for the food. We couldn’t understand because there was just two of us and a couple on the other table arrived after us and got their food before us. Probably wouldn’t visit again due to this experience in all.

We booked a table for 10 for a birthday party Got to venue No steak .no chicken.no salad.no gammon. Limited deserts .no coleslaw. This was 6pm terrible service Cold food Couldn't even supply salt so got some brought in a bowl with a spoon

Was sat in the bar area for lunch and was absolutely frozen, another table sat after then got offered a seat in the warmer part of the restaurant but not me. Food is OK, very basic but decent for the price. Restaurant offers unlimited salad, but was not given bowl for this until chasing up after being served food and by this point was so frozen had to leave before I fully made the most of the offer. App ordering is a good idea, but took way too long to setup and then worked so slowly once logged in and it took 3 tries to actually submit order. Have been to other harvester restaurants and had a great experience so dissapointed by my experience here

No soap in toilets, mens. Blocked pan and constant running flush in the other. No heating at all in side bar and gents. Chef never used soap to clean hands, quick wipe of water, then off to cook our dinner. Not happy at all, complained to chef and staff, little response. Probably won't revisit

Becki really friendly and helpful. The kids love a salad bar! We come here a lot because the staff are lovely and it’s kid friendly. The food is basic, but reasonable value.

Halfway meeting point for family from Oxford and Essex . Bit of a risk i guess but pleasantly surprised. The back of the building where we parked doesn't give a good impression but thankfully once inside we were warmly welcomed, nothing was too much bother and the staff were super - friendly, efficient, flexible with sorting out our bills, and the food was great too. Really recommended.

Went to Breakfast with Santa this morning with my son, who is neuro diverse. It was so calm and not very busy, which was perfect for us. My son had a really good, unhurried chat with Santa and loved the goodie bag. Breakfast was lovely and the staff were friendly and dressed up in festive items. A really nice Xmasy thing to do on Xmas eve.
