The best restaurants in Cottenham South Cambridgeshire East of England

Not the spot if you're looking for specialty coffee, but I'm giving it 5 stars anyway because the ladies who work here are are so kind and friendly. They could improve by getting more freshly roasted coffee (roasted within the past two weeks), grinding it fresh, and extracting at 6 bar psi, 97°, weighing doses etc etc, but fundamentally this is a nice comfy community spot, that's the point, and it's lovely. Very relaxing and lots of good options for bacon related sandwiches. Very reasonably priced too! Warm and genuine folk.

Ordered takeaway with friends and turned up at the collection time. Was told it would be 5mins and took a seat with 7-8 other people who didn't look very happy. After waiting over an hour we found out why they weren't happy. Staff just kept on repeating, order would be ready in 5 mins. Staff were really unfriendly and rude and said the problem was that the owner was on holiday. We asked for our money back but were refused (this then prompted a few others to do the same). After been passed between different members of staff we eventually got our money and left. I could understand them being short staffed, but at least tell people how long the order would take (we could have gone to pub and waited) and no need to ge so rude (we were made to feel like the problem was our fault)

Went in for a drinks with friends and what a delight to go in great company in a warm and inviting pub with landlord that can make you smile definitely will be returning

I must say the standard of the pastries were above any expectations and the friendliness of the staff the same.

Always good food, beer and friendly service. Lovely open fire. We would visit more often if they served food a bit earlier as my toddler has an early bedtime and feeding her after 6 is pushing our luck a bit

The confit duck leg was another highlight, cooked to perfection with tender, flavorful meat and crispy skin. The Hunter’s chicken delivered a comforting mix of juicy chicken smothered in a delicious sauce. The seabass was an absolute delight—crispy skin, tender flakes, and seasoned beautifully :P And let’s not forget the pizzas! The freshly made, stone-baked crust and authentic Italian toppings make them irresistible. Whether you’re a fan of classic Margherita or something more adventurous, there’s a pizza for everyone. If you're looking for a cozy spot with great vibes and amazing Italian dishes, The Chequers is definitely worth a visit!
