Now located in the beautiful old vicarage with high ceilings in Church Plain. Superb lunch, tasty drinks, gluten free catered for, dog friendly too in one of the main rooms. Chatty and helpful staff. Thoroughly recommend; can’t wait to go back for the lovely looking cakes (that we didn’t have room for!)

A revised review for new owners. I visited last night on a last minute decision with my wife and friends. The idea was a few drinks and some food and that gave me the opportunity to review the new managements changes. A great start the staff behind the bar were very friendly always a positive in my eyes. I looked around and saw that almost everyone was eating, I spoke with a couple who had finished there food and they were very pleased with their 2 meals of steak and ale pie and sea bass. When it came to ordering food my wife decided to have cottage pie and I had to confirm that it didn't have cheesy mash on the top to which I was told it didn't. When the food came out it did have cheesy mash and had to go back. My steak and ale pie was really rich and fantastic, friends had chilli, vegetable lasagne and loaded chips with pulled pork. There were no complaints and all were satisfied with there food. I tried a little of all and it tasted very good and definitely seemed homemade. The exception was my wifes cottage pie which came out in a dish of mince and a dollop of mash on top. Obviously a quick knock up from the normal cottage pie. The mash wasn't shaped or crispy on the top just dolloped on top, she ate it as she was very hungry but she wasn't happy and I did give feedback to the lady behind the bar. A disappointment as all the other food was so good. The pub itself doesn't seem much different to before and I was hoping to see some improvements but it seemed more welcoming as the staff are happy and friendly,. It's clean and tidy, the rest rooms are clean and no nasty smells. I'm harsh on scoring as I am with all my reviews and this pub/restaurant receives a good 4.0* would have been a tiny bit higher without the mix up and my wifes disappointment. I'm sure they will get better as time goes on. I would like to see a loaded nachos option as well as the loaded chips on the lite bites. I personally would recommend the food, I hope you will try it. As I would go back again.

Stopped off here whilst walking and sat outside with our dogs (also dog friendly inside). Outside seating overlooks the 9th/18th hole. Had a few drinks - bar staff professional and attentive. Also ordered a pizza which was really tasty - £15 so not cheap - but it was good. The locals and golfers were so friendly and chatty with us and really made us feel welcome. Would recommend for drinks or food and would definitely visit again.

Not even worth the 1 star staff extremely rude, unfriendly, very blunt. Don't waste your time or money with these people. Then the staff have the cheek to moan about customers in front of them. And just to add after we ordered and was handed the food, we saw how dirty the place was!!! Place needs investigating!!!!!
