We had a dog so were told to find a table the other side of the Costa Coffee sign. Football was on TV so lots of people watching that and not eating. Found a table for the 6 of us that was filthy with lots of food and rubbish on the floor. Ordered on the app. Drinks came fast but waitress said there was no Aspalls cider so asked what we wanted instead. My wife said a wine so she went away. She then came back and asked what size. She then came back again and said that will be an extra 14p. We couldn’t believe the cheek of it. She asked me to pay at the bar on a card as I had no cash. I then had to queue to pay 14p on my card and they actually put it through. Are they that desperate for money? Appalling service and food below average.

Been coming to Hopton for years, the good staff don’t tend to stay however Divide who works behind the bar is lovely and goes above and beyond, if the staff were more like her the restaurant would run smoother I’m sure. And she always puts straws in our drinks where as no one else does, thank you Divide 😊 There’s another girl with long blond hair who we’ve noticed works hard to this year but not sure of her name.

When we first arrived, we were told to go find a table... all the tables were filthy, and when my sister complained, she was GIVEN a roll of tissue and cleaning spray and had to clean the table herself before we could even sit down to order. After I was able to order my 4th choice (everything else just randomly became unavailable from the time I picked it on the website which didn't work, to walking to the bar to order) I then waited and was greeted by my " mixed not grill". A steak which looked like a steak was cut into 3 pieces then I was given a piece. A more than dry piece of chicken, which was more like cardboard. 1 mushroom!!! Oh and they forgot my egg that I paid extra for. The gammon was decent I guess.... chips were soggy. Everyone else's food was overcooked, but somehow stone cold when we got it. All the drinks were watered down. Also, dinner and 2 rounds of drinks for 4 adults and 2 kids came to 140 quid... On a side note, the bar staff were actually lovely at the bar. Cannot fault them for that. What a shame the company do not give the customers a good experience of dining. Do not come here.

Booked a table for 19.15 and on arrival we was unfortunately told that food had a wait of at least an hour and a half. As far as I could see the restaurant wasn't that busy. As we have 4 children we made the decision not to make them wait so I am unable to comment on the quality of the food. Front of house staff were friendly and I understanding of our decision to leave without eating.

Incredibly poor service waited 25 minutes no server. Had to go to the bar and order ourselves. Food was sub par definitely would not recommend

Would not recommend. Dirty floor and tables. Staff just walk away at the bar when a number of people waiting. Then decide to not serve in order. If I could give this a zero I would. Worst Haven bar/restaurant we have been to.

A terrible restaurant and bar that hugely lets the Hopton site down. It is far too small for the size of the holiday village and to make matters worse half of the tables are 'reserved' for diners even though they are left empty for hours. People just coming in to drink have nowhere to sit and are turned away despite many empty tables. The jobsworths on front of house need to have a lesson in hospitality. They're disappointing holidaymakers and losing Haven money. The floors and tables are filthy. It's not a nice place to eat.

Very poor food, for quite a high price. £18.99 for a mixed grill....the chicken breast wasn't even a quarter of a breast that was so tough I couldn't cut it properly, even with a steak knife, the gammon was just thick back-bacon, the steak was bearly a medallion and an extra 99p for a fried egg that was over cooked . NOT HAPPY AT ALL. Would not recommend.

On the 6th of may 2024 visited the garden house in Hopton caravan park I can say the food was not up to the standard of this holiday park had to return the chicken and half of rack due to uncooked chicken dry and rock hard and the rack looked ill it was white.

Don't advice anyone to eat here! Stay away from the ribs in particular! Microwaved and undercooked. Been ill all evening from eating them.

Terrible service. Don't come to your table, you're expected to come in and sit and do everything either on the app or the bar. Most food unavailable. Size of meals are extremely poor. Was actually all laughable. Kids meals are not suitable for kids tiny tiny plates with a few chips and 4 tiny nuggets. We was going to give this a second go. But ended up leaving after same no items on menu avalible. Staff just ignore you

Booked a table for 7.30pm arrived and no body in the place apart from us ( should of seen this as a red flag). The kitchen staff said to the waiters are these people walk ins and he said no these are the last booked. You could tell they were itching to close up. Staff were just messing around with each other and you could tell they didn't want us in there. A family of about 9 turned up and asked for food and was turned away (easily £100+ turned away), which I couldn't understand, these people are on holiday and it was only 7:45pm. I joked with my partner and said it's probably because they wanted to go for a drink and we actually saw some of them having a drink in the entertainment room , which isn't a problem but when we are paying customers on holiday we were made to feel unwelcome and rushed. They were friendly to our faces but heard and saw how they really felt. Food was OK, but just standard whether spoon food. I then asked for the bill and it said Monday to Thursday two mains for £18 , when I asked about this convientantly our meals weren't on the list that qualified for this, but there was no exclusions stated on the menu. Overall really disappointed as it looks a really nice restaurant from the outside. Certainly needs to be looked at by management.

Don't go to the restaurant it's a big letdown, we ate here 3 times on the off chance they we're having a bad day, food was dry and bland too, around 40mins for food family of 4 the app is useless, for the price you may aswell go to the harvester about 7 minutes drive away much better, way too pricey for the amount you get and quality is poor. haven, you really need to look at this and maybe change the catering company you use.

We didn’t actually eat here so I cannot rate the food. We were a party of 6 and went at 4.15pm so at the start of the dinner sitting and most of the meals on the menu were unavailable ( Fish and chips/ spag Bol/ Noodles / Pizzas). We ordered our food and drink and our drinks arrived in a timely fashion. About 10 minutes after ordering our food, we were told that our kids meals were unavailable, with that in mind we cancelled the order, but were still left with a hefty drinks bill and no apology.

Chaotic. Slow. Overpriced. Dirty. Poor quality. Cold. Basic.

To start off with, food took around 40 minutes at 8:30 pm, when the restaurant was mostly empty. We were a party of 6 (5 adults and 1 child). The kids chicken nugget meal was 4 pathetically sized nuggets, along with a piece of garlic bread no bigger than a post-it-note and a pot of beans that was probably the size of a singular dessert spoon. The nuggets were disgusting, were like rubber and had a strange taste. The adults all had curries. The katsu and tikka were nothing special, we could have made it better at home, and the rice was clearly microwaved. 2 of us had the sri-lankan inspired curry, and were shocked when the portion that arrived was half the size of the tikka, when it costs about 2 pounds more per plate. Half the poppadoms came out burnt, and the raspberries served in the gin were mouldy. There were no check backs to ask us how the food was, and the waiter didn't even know what dishes he had in his hand when he brought them to the table. We spoke to the manager, and he was embarrassed to serve this to people, and constantly relays feedback to the higher ups regarding the portion sizes to no response. He brought out some more of the Sri-lankan curry, and then apologised again. Don't bother eating here, it's the worst possible value for money, and the taste is mediocre for the price.

We took the kids for breakfast as George was due to make an appearance. What a mess though. Ordered on the app and 10 mins later someone came over to say the avocados were rotten so switched to a big breakfast. A while later they just couldn't fathom the price difference so we had to go up to the bar where they cancelled everything and put it through again. Then the food arrives and one of the breakfasts was missing! Complained and they said it was the chef's fault and he'll cook it now. What an absolute farce for a few breakfasts. Wouldn't go there again even for the kids to do the meet and greet.

Diabolical. Only 6 out of 8 meals turned up. They were cold 🥶 and orders were wrong. Ruined Mothers Day

I’m being generous with my scores as it was the first weekend of the season and many staff were brand new. That said, they should still have undergone training. We went in for an evening meal as a party of 8. A few dishes were sold out but that wasn’t too much of a problem. The waitress was quick to take our food and drink order but we didn’t see our drinks arrive for about 25-30 minutes. The food arrived about 10-15 minutes after the drinks and some of it was cold. By this point we were really hungry so just got on and ate it and it’s a good job we did. The people on the table behind us complained about their food being cold and one of the waiters decided he would test the food temperature by lifting her burger bun and touching the beef patty to see! She then stated (quite rightly) that she didn’t want it anymore after he had put his hands all over it. They ended up waiting an hour for their food and they had been there before us. Basically, it wasn’t worth the wait so I would suggest going to the chip shop next door or Papa Johns upstairs. The staff were polite, just very inexperienced. I wouldn’t recommend The Garden House.

Possibly one of if not the best sunday roasts ive had out ever!! The beef was absolutely to die for!! The whole meal was amazing as was a different meal we had here earloer in the week. Superb service

Within the holiday village, we had a full English breakfast. It was reasonably priced and good quality.

Food was fine and with the 2 for £18 deal it is ok value. The drinks are very expensive though. The service varied through the week from very friendly and helpful to utterly miserable and couldn't care less.

Lovely restaurant. We ate here twice during our stay. Great value for money, excellent service and tasty food. We were nearly put off by the low ratings on the other reviews but so glad we weren't. Highly recommend.

Used to enjoy coming here as it actually used to be nice this time we waited over an hour for mediocre food. We would’ve been better off with a takeaway.

Shocking. Took ages to be served, ages to get the food, and when it came, something was wrong with every meal. Burgers were overdone and rock hard, a few normal chips on a plate with sweet potato chips and hard rice. £90 in total, there was about 2 people running the place. Complained to haven and they don’t want to know and were very rude, avoid at all costs.

Bargain two steak meals for £21 plus drinks although the mushrooms could have been cooked for a little longer! Will go back again for the atmosphere! Staff were friendly!

Me and my sister had the hunters chicken it was stone cold sent it back thay just reheated it , was hard as a rock would not recommend it

We went for a meal Friday evening and were very accommodating about changing chips, steak was really good 👌 the burgers were thoroughly enjoyed as well as the kids meals. The chocolate fudge cake is a must have item and is to die for. After finding so many negative reviews we were rather anxious about eating here but we've had great experiences with meals and staff have been very helpful and friendly. Couldn't ask for more. I would suggest trusting your own instincts and chance it rather than being swayed by negative reviews. We did and so pleased we did.

Staff is friendly.. food is ok.. we have ordered three bean baristas and green thai curry.. not the best taste.. kids food was ok and reasonably priced..

Not a good experience at all. We get there and are told ‘uh there might be a table outside I think’. We get handed menus (no drink menus) and have to go wander outside to find our own seats. We sit down at the only two person table and it has food and drinks on the table. Nobody comes to clean it so we get blue roll and wipe it ourselves. We were not told how to order so we download the app as advertised and there are no menus on the app. We ended up just ordering drinks and finally someone came over to take our order. We had to pay before receiving our food (big regret). The food comes and tasted like it had been put through a microwave. Similarly to other reviews the food was cold/lukewarm and didn’t taste nice at all. When the food was brought over the waiter forgot our cutlery. We had to go ask and it was brought out. It wasn’t wrapped in any serviettes and was placed directly down from the waiters hands (who knows when they had last been cleaned/ what he had handled before) onto table we were sitting at that hadn’t properly been cleaned. Right next to our table there was a snapped floorboard with a wet floor sign on top of it (not the only one we saw) and we’re sitting in the vicinity of three big tables full of kids. This isn’t an issue in itself but they were running around and being incredibly loud. We were sat right next to a gate that lead to outside the patio area of the restaurant. This is where people went to smoke cigarettes less than half a meter away from the tables. The waiters/waitresses had no idea what they were doing or where they were going (went to the wrong table with our drinks then resorted to calling out ‘did someone order this’ It was a big let down really and instead of ordering desert there we left and decided to get fresh hot doughnuts from elsewhere.

Been coming here for 6 years it use to be a lovely place to eat. Last year I had a luke warm tikka and the next day felt really ill. Gave benefit of the doubt and tried again last night. My daughter ordered the share platter. When it finally came out it was stone cold. The meatballs where cold like not even been heated and the pork rib looked under cooked. They took it back but we cancelled the meal as was worried it may be just heated again and worried about food poisoning. Kitchen door was open as walked past it looked unclean and messy. Such a shame as use to be a lovely place to eat. Wont be eating there for the rest if the week now. Off to harvester and other places.

Please avoid scrambled eggs at any cost! Absolutely vile! The person who made that and decided to serve that and call it a food lost a will to live. Eggs been probably sitting there for hours. Absolutely gross. Also very confused staff order coffees before food. Food arrived first and then just one coffee. Had to request my coffee and end up with two absolutely ridiculously large lattes. What a waste. Staff needs probably communicate better.

Terrible meal. Spaghetti bolognaise was dry with no sauce (was meant to be in red wine sauce) complained and it was changed but still awful. Kids pizza had no taste. No draft beer or cidar and no apple cidar in bottles either. Kids running round tables. All in all terrible experience. Won't be back.

Poor selection of beers. Kids meal came with cold beans. Think they forgot to microwave them. Will not be back.

Average. It took a while for us to get our food (it was busy though), the portion size was good the quality of adult food was alright. My sons spaghetti bolognaise was not great. The price was ok. Overall pretty average to be honest.

More like 3.5 star, if I could. The 1 star review almost put us off going - we nearly cancelled our reservation. That is why I'm writing this review - I don't write many. There is a good range of choice on the menu. The portion sizes were excellent. I didn't finish mine and I usually gobble everything up on the plate. It didn't take too long to have it served to us. The prices were fair - I was expecting to be ripped off. The food quality itself was decent. I enjoyed it but I wouldn't rave about it. Overall, we were happy. No complaints and I'm glad we went.

Ordered the Katsu Chicken and it was amazing! Great portion size so no complaints. Our server Laura was amazing, friendly and as helpful as she could possibly be!

We were staying at my cousins lovely caravan right on the seafront at Hopton for a lovely long weekend. I decided to take my parents for a Sunday Roast at Haven's in-house restaurant, The Garden House - what a mistake!! The roast meals were terrible - we ordered 3 turkey and one beef roast, all luke warm at best, and the parsnips looked like something my dog had done on the beach earlier in the morning, the potatoes were clearly frozen and hardly any other vegetables on the plate! My 'ultimate' burger was dry, tasteless and clearly had been reheated, the chips were also luke warm and I suspect had been cooked some hours beforehand. I would have mentioned it to the waitresses during the meal, but they had all disappeared! When we had all had enough and could not stomach anymore, I finally managed to get the attention of a waitresses who was behind the bar to request the bill and informed her we was all unhappy with our meals - which you could clearly see as there was a lot of food left on everyone's plates. She offered no apology or reduction on the bill and just said in a blunt tone, I'll tell the chef, and briskly walked off after taking our money! We love Hopton and frequently use my cousins caravan as its right on the seafront with amazing views, but will never, ever eat in The Garden Room again - a truly awful meal, and even worse service! 🤮👎🤬 I would genuinely love to speak to the Manager of the Garden House / General Manager at Hopton about our experience if they do read this review! My advice if staying at Hopton and after a tasty Sunday Roast - avoid this place like the plaque and head to the nearby Toby Carvery or The White Hart Pub!!
