We went here for a coffee and ended up having one off their excellent scones. Tea was a little weak, but then I like strong tea, coffee was very good. Cakes looked lovely and fresh They also do sandwiches cooked breakfast soup. what I saw off it all looked very fresh and well presented. Staff were a little slow in making drinks so dont go if you are in a rush. Just enjoy the place. It was not nosisy.

I've always rated this pub - just off the beaten track and what I consider a textbook pub. Good, simple food done well, fantastic beer and friendly staff. Accommodated a group of 14 of us with military precision and without batting an eyelid. Well worth a visit if you are in the area - you won't be disappointed.

Had Sunday lunch here and if you like a home cooked experience with massive servings, you will love this place the roasts were very good, very much in a "home cooked by nanna" style. Heaps of veg, decent yorkie, wonderful roast potatoes and lots of good gravy. Serving is very large! This is not a fancy place, if you are after white linen tablecloths and fancy silverware it is not for you. But good value, large serve home style Sunday roast, you cannot go wrong.

When I was a child I remember visiting Walton on the Naze. In my memory it was a big bustling resort full of fun. When I returned as an adult it was a small and disappointing place. Sandra had the same experience today. On the way to the Bridgewater Arms she was regailing me with tales of previous meals eaten and enjoyable visits. Mind you, that was more than 5 years ago. Our eyes lit up when we saw the wine list. Chateauneuf du Pape for £24. Sorry we haven't got that. We went for a Malbec instead which tasted like it had been cooked even though it was in a screw top bottle. We then tried a sip of their Merlot. Two lagers please! My first course of Tomato and Pepper soup was nice, and we played a good game of hunt the prawn in Sandra's starter. We eventually found a couple. Sandra's main, delivered before she had finished her starter, was OK, but my mushroom pie had plenty of room inside it and not many mushrooms. Both of our deserts were excellent and free, and the staff were very polite and helpful, hence 2 stars. It will be more than 5 years before she comes again.
