We went here for a coffee and ended up having one off their excellent scones. Tea was a little weak, but then I like strong tea, coffee was very good. Cakes looked lovely and fresh They also do sandwiches cooked breakfast soup. what I saw off it all looked very fresh and well presented. Staff were a little slow in making drinks so dont go if you are in a rush. Just enjoy the place. It was not nosisy.

Wonderful Christmas concert, some of the best brass musicians in the country. Thank you again for this annual extravaganza.

The Alford Arms is a shining example of what makes a pub truly special. We arrived an hour earlier than our reservation, and they graciously accommodated us without a fuss – a gesture that immediately set the tone for a wonderful experience. The wine selection was superb, and the food was absolutely delightful. The butternut squash and trout starters were bursting with flavor, while the Sunday pork roast and free-range sausages were cooked to perfection. The bubble and squeak was a standout – hearty, comforting, and beautifully executed. Every dish felt thoughtfully prepared and a joy to savor. This isn’t just a pub; it’s an elevated dining experience wrapped in a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The absence of a TV was a refreshing change, allowing us to truly connect with friends and catch up without distractions. The service was impeccable, with a friendly and attentive team that made us feel well cared for throughout. Visiting the Alford Arms is always a special treat. It’s a place we’ll continue to cherish for its fantastic food, great service, and sophisticated yet cozy charm. Highly recommend!

It was very quiet when I went there for a quick lunch. I'm sure it gets busier in the Summer. The Bridge water Arms is located on the edge of the beautiful (even in winter) Ashridge forest. It is a cosy country pub with no pretensions. The food was good and not expensive. Service was quick and friendly. Well worth a visit.
