The best restaurants in West Mersea Colchester East of England

lovely meal and good service, had the sticky beef and noodles followed by the brazilian seafood stew which was fantastic. others had steak, all dishes were first class. hopefully everyone will now know you are open as a great addition to Mersea.

Great takeaway sandwiches; looked and tastes very fresh. The white chocolate cake was also delicious. Tempted with a new cheese , yet to try🤞

Went for breakfast and enjoyed every last fork full. The service was very good, the staff were friendly and the food delicious.

Stayed on Mersea Island for a few days with friends for birthday celebration and was looking for somewhere to go for afternoon tea. Found The Gilt Rooms on Tripadvisor and decided to give it a go. We had to book for the afternoon tea but wow so worth it. Everything from the freshly made sandwiches to the warm fresh out of the oven scones and home bakes cakes (chocolate eclair, victoria sandwich, lemon drizzle and choc brownie were amazing. All washed down with a perfectly chilled glass of prosecco and lashings of tea or coffee. It was the absolute best afternoon tea I've ever had and have had a few. Will definitely visit again when there.

We love this place, we come here so often but it's unfortunate that there was dog mess all over the fields, even on the public path that was right next to the dog walk - like really. Dogs off the leads, ran over to our tent. Dogs at the entrance of the bathrooms and nobody moves them. Would be amazing if you had a dog free field, other sites do. Other than that, the entertainment and food are amazing! Love the swimming pool 😍

Overall a very nice place to visit. Good food, with lots of fish options, good selection of beer and wine and very good value.

Don’t live on the Island although family do but been in a few times to eat and always first class. Popped in this afternoon for a coffee and Large Whisky 😀 and got to say was made so welcome by the lovely 2 people behind the bar although the young lad was a Spurs fan bless him 😂. Seriously though great service and made so welcome

Found hairs in the chips which also tasted rancid and inedible. Will not be returning any time soon as not good quality food.

I placed an order for 3 hot chocolates and a croissant for us and then changed one of the hot chocolates as I have intolerance, the 2 hot chocolates arrived and i received a refund and ordered an apple juice which i thought would be instant as 2 drinks had already arrived. Whilst the 2 hot chocolates were being drunk I waited about 15 minutes.. still no apple juice. In the end we just left and i had no drink, very poor service we will not be returning.

A trendy cafe refurbished in 2022 with an interesting menu run by very friendly helpful staff. We had the afternoon tea and the scones were certainly homemade and delicious. Fresh tea leaves rather than a teabag and the best of ingredients including their choice of coffee beans. The town I live in has over 20coffee shops/teashops and the Art Cafe was far superior.
