Every single 1 of them in there are very friendly make you feel very welcome and all of the food is superb. My personal favourite is the chicken kebab so my man on the grill is very very good highly highly recommend 👌

Just ordered mixed grill for 2 Wow it was fantastic. Nicely cooked and plenty of everything. We ordered a portion of chips to go with it but couldn't eat them as there was so much delicious kebab variety. Great value too. It's our last night of holiday or we would be eating here every night!

The chicken wrap was actually pretty tasty, fair price Service was hectic, but they were busy which means good business Atmosphere, who dosent like a busy fish and chip shop

Omg best kebab wrap ever ,ordered 6 meals and not one disappointed us. Very busy for a Monday night bit busy with locals coming in good sign for good food.

This has not been the best place for me to buy food as the lamb kebab was very oily and just did not taste right. However, it was a large portion and quite costly and not value for money. As with the other food on offer I am not sure how it all tastes. The atmosphere inside not so great and I honestly feel its not the best fast food takeaway I could recommend to anyone when ordering lamb kebab. It does have limited seating. After eating from here the quality and taste of the kebab was sitting on my chest and needed a hot drink just to wash down. I definately could not recommend eating from here.

Absolutely the best Shish Kebabs! The fish and chips are good as well - the only problem is that the battery doesn't travel well..... it goes soggy.

We had to eat our take away fish and chips on a park bench as there was no outdoor seating, we have a dog. But the fish was lovely and the chips also! Very tasty!

Been getting our regular Saturday night takeaway from here for years now and always excellent ,great chippy. We ring our order through always 10-15min to collection.

We had Chips in Pitta Bread and battered sausage and they were both excellent, I would say the chips in Pitta were the best I have ever had, very reasonably priced and lovely and hot. Would definitely use again.

Chippy for the thinking Mersea Island Man Woman. Good quality white flakes of Fish wrapped in light crispy golden batter with a shedload of chips on the side. Great Kebabs with superb Chilli sauce and service with a smile not a grimace. Fill your boots!

Chippy for the thinking Mersea Island Man or Woman Shed load of perfectly fried chips, so if you are on a budget one portion will easily serve two kids, get the chip spoon out and wop those chips on their plate they will be in heaven, Light crispy golden battered quality Fish Wrapped in paper as they should be to be honest. Not pre cooked chips, an underwelming sized piece of Fish and served with a little slice of Lemon in a little cardboard box. Thats for babies that is. To top it all off friendly service that appreciates your custom. What more do you want ?? DO IT

Luvly food.. love there chicken burgers but they do the best chilli sauce ever.. I have 2 order fee extra pits to take home with me 😋

Terrible service and food. take advice dont pre order as they don't have a clue what they're doing, I ordered 20 mins in advance and still stood there for poor food and tripe we didn't order for 25 mins what a joke

Used to eat from here quite often but recently prices have increased significantly like just about everything else in life right now!!! Honestly the grub is fantastic though! Can't fault them at all, other than price increase :( staff all seem pretty friendly. Give em a try you won't be disappointed.

We regularly use Unique - about once a month. The food is always fresh and the fish cooked well. The staff are polite and the prices are reasonable. If you want F&C then this is the place to go on the Island

It's not bad in here we normally do a stop of if we ride the bikes to mersea foods pretty decent little bit pricey for what you get but overall it's worth a visit

We get fish and chips there every other week, when we take the in-laws shopping down, and they are such a friendly bunch, we phone the order through and they usually say 10 minutes, when we get there they see us pull up and start bagging it up. Never had any problems

I've just recently had the worst customer service from this store. I'm not very happy with the food since it was cold. The food isnt fresh at all .. I was very surprised with a guy working behind the desk and have noticed that other reviews have said he is extremely rude to. I should have walked out but instead waited an hour for food that wasnt even worth..

And they also need to learn what 20 minutes is! Went to get a take away tonight, was told 20 minutes which ended up being an hour. When my wife asked (after an hour) how much longer, she was told “IM BUSY” food had been sat waiting for 20 minutes in a box on the counter. Then she was told to “just take her food!” Needless to say when we got it home, it was cold. The guy is lucky that my wife filled me in on what was said once we were way way down the road. Had I known while we were there, he would have been picking his teeth out of the chip fryer! If you want cold food, hideous attitude to customers as a 1 hour wait, you’ll get all three here! The only plus side to this establishment is that you get to meet some really nice people who are also waiting…. Unfortunate for this shop, I don’t think they’ll be shopping here much longer!

Order and pay up front. Was told 20 minute wait for food. Ended up waiting nearly an hour! When I asked how much longer was food going to be, the man behind the counter was extremely rude! Then he took a box that had been sitting on the counter for over 20 minutes and said I'm just doing it! He was so rude and aggressive. I was patient because they was busy but I said to him that food has been sitting there for ages and he told me 'so what' . I will never use this shop again based on the aggressive attitude of the staff in there, I don't care how busy you are. Common courtesy and manners cost nothing, something they clearly need staff training on! Would be zero star if it was an option. Also the food was cold. The cod and lamb was dry, chips cooked in old oil. All in all an awful experience!

We were camping in nearby East Mersea when we had a major kitchen malfunction, so we abandoned our tent and half cooked meals, jumped in the car and found this little gem on Google, Excellent food, good portion sizes, friendly staff and very reasonable prices. Thanks guys 👍

Great quality fish and large portions make this excellent value (I'm an ex fish wholesaler so I know good fish) have used unique many times so this is an opinion gathered over several years

Often visit when in mersea...nice food and lovely staff...visited again July 2021..good as usual ,But unhappy to see they still not taking card payments. Come on boys ,move with the times. Cash points on island are few between and often run out of cash ...

We both had quarter pounder cheese burgers and shared a portion of chips. Fresh burgers were displayed in a cabinet before cooking. They were really good quality burgers with salad and we opted for burger sauce. The sesame seed buns were lightly toasted which was a nice touch. The regular portion of chips was quite large and we didn’t manage to finish them. They were delicious. Will definitely go back.

Alway busy, having to queue in the drizzle outside is a bit of a pain but worth the wait as their food is great. Fish and chips cooked very well and their chicken kebabs are smashing. Will definitely return here.

Originally from east london, Unique is now our local chippy. Can be a bit hit and miss but 9 times out of 10 its spot on. Portions are decent, chips are really nice and the staff are always friendly. Its our after school treat on fridays now and the kids love it.

Visited from London and checked out this place and everything we ordered was delicious, so much so we came back the next night as well. Thank you for your lovely service and your lovely food. Next time we are in Mersea we will be back!

It’s a solid chip shop/kebab house offering. Chips aren’t the best and saveloys are poor; fish is ok. Biggest problem is they only take cash!!! For a seaside destination, in current times, just unacceptable.

Got myself a kebab and I was not impressed!! The customer service was very poor and rude and not to mention I only had 4 chunks of lamb shish which is ridiculous costing nearly 10 pounds, another thing lack of sauce... literally it's like they used one of them small ketchup sachets on my kebab and thats it... it's so not worth the money and I'm very disappointed, will not be eating here ever again. Oh and please dont stare at my girlfriend like shes a piece of meat... thankyou :)

Another chippy as part of the seaside tour me and my daughter are doing. The chips at this place were winning until we went to Frinton, they are currently second out of six locations visited. Good chips and would recommend!

Must have been a bad day? Parking was difficult busy. Went in to order NO CONTACTLESS payment cash only. Go to cash machine. Try to park Again. Ordered. Seemed like the longest wait ever. Got food. Pleasant enough staff. Food ok. I was hungry. Social distancing no comment.

Good Fish and Chips on 2 recent visits. Nicely cooked - good batter - friendly staff and reasonable prices Yet to try full menu but kebabs look good too It’s not on the main road but near other cafes. It’s worth a visit!

The best fish and chips on the island

We have been going here on regular basis since we moved to mersea 4 years ago. It’s great value for money and all the food is always fresh. The staff are friendly. My only slight criticism is I wish they batter was more crispy but that of course is personal preference. So if your looking for a chip shop on mersea give them a try I’m sure you won’t be disappointed!

All the fish is cooked fresh every time, which takes a little more time for your for F&C. The batter is not as good as it was 2 to 3 years ago. Could be to a change of staff, although the serving staff are always happy.

We were staying local and found this place following a google search - food was fresh and very tasty. The chilli sauce was the best I’ve had!

I've eaten her on a few occasions and each time the chips have been crispy, fresh and hot, the fish was very crispy but a tad greasy.. still very tasty. The kebabs are great and definitely worth a try.
