Frydays Fish & Chips in Colchester

Just the job for a sit in lunch over that side of town on our way to Highwoods. Great idea of the staff member to offer us the lunch deal as the portion of fish was just the right size for my husband and I. Crispy batter, flaky moist cod, great chips. The staff member agreed that getting wooden cutlery is their next step and said she would try a different supplier. Once that is in place it will be Practically Perfect in every way 🍒

We pre ordered 72 portions of mainly fish and chips and a few veggie burgers and chips for a dual celebration of my wife’s 70th and our anniversary. The order arrived on time the food was hot and tasty and enjoyed by our friends and family. The food made the event unique and several people asked where the shop was so that they could visit for their own fish suppers in future.What more can I say other than thank you very much all to the staff at Fridays for making our event so special.

Superb !!! I travel all over uk & I know a good chippy. Fridays is I must say one of the best, fresh white cod, light not too thick batter, cooked too perfection ( checked regularly whilst it’s cooked), thick crispy chips not soggy or oily. The staff are friendly and polite and always helpful. In all I would highly recommend this chippy.

Great service. Delivered to my home as live just up the road and I requested order for 10 people. Food very hot. Cooked extremely well. Use regularly. Would recommend for any occasion

Great cod and chips. My girlfriend and I have been looking for a proper chippy after being let down by delivery apps all too often. This place really hit the spot. Reminded me of the chippys in the old days

Great food, greatly priced and the batter on the cod is to die for. The guys were just a good laugh as well, which helps.

I was in the area last week with friends and came in to get some food I was disgusted with the Essex chavette u have working there her language was disgusting and health and safety she should not be wearing jewellery working with food that is a health and safety hazard also she would not listen to anyone when asked to do something but the other young lady there was so polite I think you need to get rid of the chavette or you are going to lose customers

The best Cod in batter that I have ever had , chips were excellent too , would highly recommend, Also the staff were happy to chat as well and were very friendly

This Chippy we frequent quite regularly because the food is always consistently good. Sometimes theres a bit of trouble outside with some of the clientel either over parking or something else but cant blame the chippy for that

Used to be our local chippy but tonight again 3rd and last time take out with deliveroo horrible greasy batter and chips. They have gone from the best to worst so sad. Wondering if if it is Wednesday nights or nee management!

We came to Colchester to visit family and we came in to get some fish and chips the food was excellent and the service was up and beyond the young that served us I think her name was jade she was so polite and happy to b in work even talking about where we come from I could not fault anything so well done jade I think that was ur name when we come to visit again we will b coming bk in I will mark it as 100 out of 100 top marks

I came in the shop while I was on holiday the food was excellent and the young girl who served us she looked happy in her work always had a smile on her face and was talkative to me I will come back in again when I come back to visit and I am sure the young girls name was jade well done 10 out of 10 keep smiling 🥰🥰

I've just enjoyed Saveloys, Chips and a can of drink from here. I would thoroughly recommend this takeaway as excellent quality and good value.

My family eats from here on the regular, probably once, at most twice a month. This is solely a takeaway place with no indoor dining area, there is seating for while you wait for your order.I have eaten their chicken burgers, their cod and chips and their kebabs and all of them are a fantastic meal. The staff have always been friendly and know us by name. You are able to have a conversation with the cashier while you wait for your food too which is always nice.The food is prepared right in front of you with a window in the counter so you can see exactly what they're doing which I think is a bonus, always a better experience when you can see the kitchen in motion.The quality of the food is just perfection, I have never been disappointed with any of the meals I have. I have never had a regret after eating their food, its clean, good food.A classic, hard working, proud fish and chips takeaway. They deserve your money.

Always great fish and chips..the extra you pay for large fish..is well worth it..they really are large..freshly cooked..well worth a visit

I needed to obtain some good fish and chips for my elderly parents as a lunchtime treat during the lockdown as I live 109 miles away from there home and couldn’t collect and deliver for them. I searched local delivery providers and discovered Frydays.. I thought I would try out their delivery service via Deliveroo and have to say that both my parents and myself were absolutely blown away with the speed, efficiency and quality of service and food they received. The chips were excellent tasted like chips should do and the fish was chunky quality mouth-watering cod covered in a light but tasty batter. It was mouthwatering hearing my parents experience. Needless to say that since then i have ordered at different times during the day and on each occasion the standard was the same! Quality in every respect. Thank you so much Frydays!

Best Fish and chips in Colchester..the large Plaice is fantastic..the Cod is lovely white and flakey..good chips..friendly welcoming staff,great value for money

We regularly use deliveroo for our order which is always freshly cooked, piping hot and served in a box

Went here when we first moved to the area. Prices are quite high but the quality was good and the staff were friendly.

Not sure what has changed over than last couple of months but chip seem average in quality and fish batter is very flat compared with how crispy and textured it use to in 2019 , hopefully things will get back to how things were in the future else will be stopping my regular visits

I have visited on two occasions now, last sunday and the Monday just gone. The first time i was appalled by a girl who was just standing there doing absolute nothing while the another girl working was rushed off her feet doing everything whilst she is just stood there gawping out the door! The second visit (the Monday) the girl that was rushed off her feet previously wasnt working but the gawping girl was and shock she wasnt doing anything or helping anyone and wasnt even a smile on her face (obviously doesn't want to be at work!)I feel sorry for your members off staff working the hardest whilst she stands there doing nothing! I wouldn't put up with it and i find it POOR customer service!Maybe find a happy smiley employee that is actually happy to be at work :)

In addition to the very friendly staff the fish and chips are absolutely scrumptious. The food is freshly cooked so expect a little wait, but it’s worthwhile. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Stopped here for Fish and chips a few weeks ago..have visited 3 times since..have been impressed with the quality of the chips and fish..on last visit I had a large plaice..it was the best plaice I have ever had..will give them our support.

We decided to try a new fish and chip shop. The shop is clean and the staff presented clean and polite. We ordered our food which was all cooked fresh. No queues. Excellent variety of food to choose from. Two portion sizes of chips to choose from. Fish, chicken everything and more than you would expect from a chip shop. The food was of an excellent standard. The chips were absolutely amazing, the portions were generous. Exceptional value for money. The food was restaurant fresh. Seating area while you wait for your food. Only small issues we found was parking was a slight problem as very limited and they don’t take card so I had to drive to get cash. To be fair the other chip shop I use does not take card. It’s really worth a visit

I just visited this chip shop and I was not happy firstly the Savaloy was absolutely horrible it must have been days old I did not eat it because I could of become sick the gherkin was so small the size of a finger the fish batter was dry not a great experience.

Myself, mum and nan come every week and love it here. Always fresh and lovely and staff so nice. We always arrive when they open and it’s always ready :)

Good prices, excellent staff and very good food! One of the best chip shops I've been to and we often visit here as it's local to where we live! Never had any issues and would and have recommended!

I bought a burger and chips last night for dinner. The burger was not gristly, it was very tasty and the onions and ketchup they added were a generous portion which made my meal delicious. My partner had fish and chips, the portion size was very generous and he enjoyed his meal too. Highly recommend this fish and chip shop.

We came across this Fish & Chip shop on our way back from Ipswich to London, we were looking for Fish & Chips but thought we would not have a chance as it was a Sunday. But luckily for us we found Frydays. We were greeted by a warm friendly girl who was so polite and helpful, service with a smile. We had cod & chips and a vege burger the whole meal was delicious, best fish & chips we have had in a long time good size portions too. There is also a parking forecourt outside for at least two cars.
