Five Guys in Colchester

Ordered on deliveroo and the chips were completely upside down, cold, burgers squashed with a drink on top of them making a massive dent in one. I wouldn’t care but it’s very expensive.

Can't beat a fiver Guys, only had a milkshake, but wow they are the best, don't forget to try the free monkey nuts

What can I say. I just love it. Burgers are amazing service is great always clean. It's a yes from me.

Best burger I had. Chips are brilliant they are cooked in peanut oil. Free peanut too! Wouldn't go if you are allergic to peanuts! The staff are really nice and polite to their customers. And the place was clean too.

Very nice but very overpriced for what you get

Service was fine, no queue but food was expensive (£12+ for a burger and fries) and it wasn't pleasant to eat. Burger was greasy and served in a soggy bun, fries came in a huge portion (I ordered small size) and were so over salted as to be inedible. Food ended up in the bin I'm afraid.

The burger never disappoint. They are the American burger you always imagine but rarely get - and as such they are worth the extra money. It's never been really busy when I have been there, so not as much atmosphere as I would like.

I ordered a burger and a portion of chips for delivery, they just packed the chips in a disposable water glass. There were chips all over in the package. The taste is good but the packaging is very bad.

I love a burger and this has to be one of the best I have ever had. Freshly cooked with the toppings I asked for. Fries freshly cut and cooked, a huge amount that was shared by 2 of us. Not sure if it's just this restaurant or they all have great staff. Service is spot on.

The food portions are big it makes up for the price. The food is amazing and super delicious. The stuff is super friendly. The atmosphere is upbeat. And the restaurant is clean and tidy.

Fresh cooked burger. A bit expensive but have any number of free topping. Bags and bags of fries.

Best restaurant around! Always take my family here and it is always very welcoming. Staff are so friendly. Food is also superb! Everytime we're in Colchester we always come here. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Very nice overpriced burger and chips.

I like this place when I really would like to eat fast food. That happens rarely, so I prefer this place over other fast food restaurants. The food quality is above average. Fresh, nicely served, tasty.

Best burger I’ve ever had. Staff are patient and polite, property is clean and spacious and don’t get me started on the fries. Well worth the extra money for a proper burger and fries. The hot dogs are pretty special, too, and the milkshakes will fill you right up…especially the Reese’s one. 🤤

The burgers are good, real american ones, but you have to add at least something to make them tasty. The personnel is always polite and helpful. The atmosphere is a little depressing, but free nuts as you wait for your order makes it bearable!

Visiting Colchester area and decided to stop in for some grub. The food was great as always but what separated this from all the other Five Guys that I've been to across the country was Paul. Paul was happy, helpful, and enthusiastic, an absolute credit to both the restaurant and the brand. 10/10. Thank you.

Tasty burgers and chips. Visited with my grandson as a treat for his birthday- he loved it! He also had a very thick like ice cream Oreo milkshake. Staff were friendly and helpful. However, it wasn’t cheap and I found it quite messy eating the burger which consisted of two patties of meat without cutlery as was really an expensive takeaway. Despite this the burgers were the best I’ve had in a long while so now I know what to expect would go again but would make sure I had wet wipes.

This is the first time I have been to 5 guys and they do by far the best fast food burgers. The burgers are cooked fresh and you get to choose what you want on them. There is a great choice of what you can have to create a original burger for you. You can also create a original milkshake which includes bacon. The bacon takes the sweetness off the milkshake.

Just leaving a short to the point review, really nice service, really nice food and one of the servers called Ryan really gave the establishment a warm and welcoming feel as well as being very gracious reintroducing my friend and myself into the franchise as it had been over 2 years since I'd been to one. 5/5 would return again, thanks Ryan. -Tye

The most extortionate burger I’ve ever had! Taste just like any home cooked burger and you get to pay extra for fries 😂 absolutely mental!

Very good smashed style burgers with lots of topping options. Onions would be better sliced and not cubed so they don't fall out, cheese could be added when burgers are still on the flat top to avoid the half cold half melted effect. Probably the best burgers on a high street or shopping centre near you though.

Obviously for 30 pounds you are getting burger like from McDonald’s chips looks like they are 20 years old not recommending at all

Never tried a Five Guys before but have been meaning to for a while since one of our offspring had a job in one for a while. Burgers good...a whole several levels above a Maccy D's and a great system in being able to have as many or as few toppings on as you like. Cajun spiced fries - awesome - two burgers and a single medium fries filled us both up. It's too easy and overly simplistic to dismiss Five Guys as overly expensive - the ingredients are prepared fresh every day, the staff are relatively well paid in a traditionally underpaid sector (maybe that's why they are so damned cheerful and helpful...take note KFC et al) and the burgers and fries come in tin foil and a paper bag...which was a touch that we loved - so little waste. We paid £24 for the food above and a drink each (we avoided the calorie laden milkshakes)...we felt well fed and watered and that we'd eaten an above average product - definitely better than a pub burger and chips that we'd have paid a similar price for.

This is family favourite for us and if we are nearby, this will be first choice for burgers every time. If you are here for the first time, hint: one portion of chips feeds at least 2

Very disappointed with this chain, very expensive, no hot drinks, it was a freezing cold day and they had the big main door open, I asked if it could be closed and they said no, no other restaurants keep the doors open so sat freezing while the grandkids ate, and guess what, no prices on the Web site, take my advice avoid if you don't want to be ripped off

I'd never been to a Five Guys before, and I wasn't sure if I could eat there as a gluten free person... turns out I can! On arrival, a bit confused by what to have and the server was helpful and patient (thankfully there wasn't a big queue!) Amazing choice of options for your burger - burger is completely gluten free too. I had it wrapped in lettuce but the other option was a salad bowl. When I'd placed my order and said GF, the server went straight to the other team member and said it. She changed her gloves, and got out new prep stuff before she started mine. The burger was good, cooked really well and tasty, maybe not the best burger I've ever had if I was comparing JUST the burger like for like, but the extra toppings really made it! Overall an amazing lettuce wrapped burger. The fries were tasty too, but we got a large to share between 2 of us... rookie error! There were enough fries to feed at least a family of 4! Good service, and good food.

Milk shake was enjoyable but very overpriced for a small milkshake at £5.25 per drink. But OK for a special treat but not an every day expenditures.

First time going to 5 guys. The food was nice but uterally extortionate prices for what is basically an up-market McDonalds. Over £28 for my wife and I to have two burgers, one portion of fries and two drinks between us. I was still hungry afterwards, won't be going there again.

Oh yes this girl loves her burgers! Five Guys let's you choose from so many different toppings to go on your burger, so you can either pack it out or keep it simple. I like to keep it simple. Pickles & onions with ketchup. Side order of Cajun fries to go with & I'm sorted. I do highly recommend Five Guys, the food is cooked in front of you, it's fresh & extremely tasty. Enjoy!! Food and choices of toppings were really great, very good quality. The place was spotless and tables cleaned as soon as people vacated them but the thing I really loved was the staff, the chap who served us was happy, helpful and efficient it was an absolute pleasure to be served by him. It was definitely well worth the money for the generous portions and great quality. Thank you 5 guys.

I came here for a quick lunch visit and the food was okay. I got told by friend sue that it was AMAZING. It was okay but i thought the price was a bit to expensive for what i recieved. That being said yhe staff were lovely and overal it was a good experience. I would return but only for a quick snack nothing more.

Wow the best cheeseburger and chips I've ever had in my 54 years alive. The chips are to die for and I only wish that I bought a large portion rather then a small one but I believe the chips are double fried and you get a choice of a spicy seasoning or a regular seasoning on the chips but unlike the worst chips from KFC which taste dull and bland the chips at five guys are crisp and crunchy and so fresh that you can taste the potatoe in each chip and the five guys I went to even had a notice by the stacked up bags of spuds to say what farm they were from. The burgers were cooked fresh and not frozen unlike other well known burger outlets. The burgers had a lovely flavour as well and we're cooked to perfection. You can chose from a wide range of fillings and toppings as well for your burger ie onions mushrooms peppers and different sauces. I do have to admit that it's not a cheap meal for 2 people but if you don't mind paying a little bit extra for quality then personally speaking I would chose five guys every time tho it's not the kind of meal you have every day but a treat maybe every couple of months or a special occasion but whatever you chose to do I can't recommend this burger chain enough and I for one will make another visit there with my friend for a pre christmas treat. ENJOY!!

Ate here for the very first time today and I must say this is some of the best food I have ever eaten, the service was excellent and the food came very quick. Rayaan on the till was very helpful when we explained this was the first time eating here.

Always nice food, have not had any issues in the past. I like the ability to select what is in the burger or milkshake. Simple pricing of: burger £5, medium fries £5~, milkshake £5. The chips are delicious but the Cajun had a bit too much spice for me (too much seasoning!). Milkshakes are awesome, no complaints. Just deliveroo always takes a while to arrive when I am hungry! First time visit. Assumed fast food was fast food. The ordering experience isn't particularly unique, and the prices are somewhat high, but the quality of the food is more akin to what you'd expect from a pub/ restaurant experience sans the long weight. All extras are free and configurable, soft drinks self serve free refills so, go crazy. Could be my new fast food of choice

It's burgers and dogs are very, very good, and the milkshakes are to die for (I'm lactose intolerant)!

I personally find the burgers bland and sub par but that may be because I don't have the illusion with all the toppings so I get to taste the burger for what it is as I have it completely plain but that shouldn't matter. But the staff are always friendly, you have a large variety to put in the burgers and in the milkshakes and it's my partners favourite burger place to eat. Prices are a little much for the size burger you get but it's a business.

Visited on Saturday 10th October 2020. Service was fast. Burgers consistent with every other Five Guys we’ve visited. The potion of the fries was a little smaller than usual though. I had a BLT. It was a little bit dryer than I’d like.

Guys!!!! did you knew that all ingredients is fresh, no freezers 🤯 they preparing them in a morning, so it is super fresh. Other facts is ,if you care about quality of your meet, (which we all care) they feed animals 180 days with organic corn to make meet super quality!!!!! I'm telling you guys and girls 🎩 if you care about quality and fresh greens and don't forget animals they feeding with corn 🤯🤯🤯🤯 And it's not the end. If you wanna know what u eating, just ask them, they was sooooo helpful and explain everything, they know what they selling and they know quality we getting. Everyone who works in this place- thank you for this quality you giving to us and thank you for so friendly atmosphere. U have a client who appreciates your effort and quantity and care of animals before they become our food. Thank you.

It's is very expensive, don't know why. Two people for £30🤮. Domino's is not that expensive with this price.

Today I went in to get some food. I'd been hankering for a burger and fries and this place didn't disappoint. The milkshakes are super thick, so thick you could probably walk on them, which I love. The burgers were not greasy but well filled and the portion of chips was large. They do free refills of soft drinks as well. They do have a notice on the door saying they have open bags of peanuts so it you have a nut allergy take care. Overall though a great experience and a welcome burger.

Finally tried Five guys after it had been in our high street (Colchester) for a couple of years. Expensive for what it is and I would say that I prefer "Love thy Burger". One plus side is their version of a small chips is more like a large.

Always liked Five Guys and this one is no different and very clean. They definitely do the best chain burgers in the country, the double burger all the way! The portions are incredible for this country and I also had the peanut butter milkshake that was so good. It is expensive compared to most other fast food but definitely worth it, restaurant quality.

Good quality food, and I finally had a chance to try out the "Beard Shake" (a milkshake with Oreos, penut butter&bacon), very nice!

I will only say that the flavor of these burgers is fantastic, good service, good quality products and most importantly, you are satisfied tasting a good flavor.

So 3 cheeseburgers and 1 fries with 2 drinks came to over £35. If it was a waiter service I'd understand but for a takeaway that was hideously expensive I thought. Food was OK but nothing to write home about.

Ordered for click and collect and food wasnt ready for 25mins past the pick up time. Staff were friendly but for the price you pay you would hope so!

Literally the only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is the price, I got 2 cheese dogs, a burger and 2 milkshakes for £30, that would be like a tenner from McDonald's, nonetheless really great food, quick serving and friendly staff, I recommend it once in a while, parking near the shop is quite bad as you're not allowed to park anywhere near it and you have to walk but if you're quick in the evening you'll get away
