Bar-b-q House in Colchester

Never again! Can anyone recommend a decent takeaway in southern Colchester?

First time ordering, food was cold on arrival and not edible tasted like it had been sat there for a long period of time. Also had items missing. Tried calling the shop to ask how long it would take to be delivered but no answer. Food was 20 mins later than expected ordered through Uber eats.

Silliest idea I’ve had ordering from a smaller business on Valentine’s Day. Nuggets missing, piece of plastic in kebab and the ‘plain cheeseburger’ came with no cheese… but a load of onion to a child who is allergic. Could’ve been very dangerous, and the phone just rings out. Never again

Discusting communication, if they are too busy after taking your money, they will not answer the phone, not deliver your order

great food, decent price. delivery on time- one item missing, but they delivered half hour after- and was very apologetic. would definitely order again

food was not as good as last time the box for shish kebab was broken so when opening it food fell out other side the food wasn't very warm and meat was very chewy today and arrived late

waited over an hour for them to not even deliver the food and then marked as delivered so I didn't get my food. really let down on this one they are normally really good.

didn't get the halloumi on either of my meals. said it would be sent straight out, it never came 😔 apple pies had zero filling!! such a shame because we love this place

Amazing… so good and always fresh

We used to order a lot from here but it seems they have gone massively downhill of late. Hotdog was just a sausage in a very dry plain bun with no sauce, you could have struck a match on it! One friend with me had a kebab that was absolutely drowned in chilli sauce whilst another had NO kebab at all as it didn’t turn up! Sort it out guys or I may have to order from elsewhere in future. Have complained to Just Eat but no refund so far, poor service all round, very disappointing.

I didn’t even receive my order, I went hungry that night as the delivery driver apparently left it on my door step but when I went down there was nothing there.

Taste was okay, but the portion size is atrocious, definitely not good value for money.

Won’t ever be ordering from here again, they never get the order right and it always turns up cold. And when I ask for garlic mayo on my burger it turns up with tomato sauce so they clearly can’t read orders properly . Waste of time and money.

Everything was good, portion size big. Followed instructions properly but shame meat quality!

Received order as requested and arrived 5/10mins early👍 Food was of usual quality and nice and hot. Only criticism as with last order is that the portion size for x-large kebab was not great, hopefully can be addressed for next time😉

I had to phone the restraunt twice to find out where my order was both times i was told 2 minutes away all of the order was cold I wont be using bar b q house ever again not even if they were the last takeaway in Colchester

usually order from here the food is really good and never complain but on this order I'm not sure if it was busy or something else but food arrived cold like had been sat there a while.

Was very late order, ordered at just past 1 it came at 2:30, stone cold, terrible quality

We went here on a late night munch on new years on the way back to our hotel… the owners were really kind and friendly however the food was diabolical… not expecting much but the pizza cost £10 and was uneatable… Chips bang though.

Order arrived early (20mins) but food was hot and ready to eat. Quality was good and we enjoyed our meals. Portion size could have been better , extra large Doner kebab should be just that but fell well short, shame😔

When I ask my kids where they want takeaway from bar b q house is always the first choice never had any problems the food always hot and the drivers are nice and friendly to my kids when helping collect the food highly recommend to everyone best pizza in town

All theses bad reviews about my favourite takeaway place is madness Iv just ordered myself a big box chicken wings and man there delicious and hot These men know how I like my chicken keep up the great food and work at bar b q house your loyal customer right here is not letting the bad reviews mess with my meals

My order still has not arrived and the restaurant are not responding or answering there phone absolutely shocking service

Couldn’t get hold of the restaurant for an update on the order.

Ribs were dried out and tough with very little sauce. Entire Burger meal missing

Asked for a specific time an hour and a half notice, came late, was cold and food quality is horrendous

food was marked as delivered and then after calling arrived 15 minutes later which was around 20 mins late, food was cold and not cooked all the way through.. disappointed

It was great that it came earlier than expected as we were hungry. Delicious as always! Very happy!

Cod and chips were burnt supermarket fish and cold chips . Barbq Lamb ribs and chips were plain lamb chops and no chips ,plus delivery kept changing and it came later than originally said

45 mins late, burnt shish kebab, soggy garlic mushrooms, some ribs where just bone

Poor quality food, if you can call it that! Mixed olives was just a couple of olives on some lettuce, and they tasted terrible. My son’s burger wasn’t even edible to feed the dog. shish kebab was absolutely vile, and had a strange taste. I’ve never left a review ever before, but don’t want people to waste the money!

Chicken burger was good. Pizza is mediocre. Not the best quality of toppings. Seevice was quick delivery driver was a bit grumpy. Overall not bad. Cheap and nearly cheerful... 😁

Was OK but portions extremely small for the price (even with 40% off voucher)! Ribs for nearly £8 and they didn't fill up half the container. Chips were a bit soggy. Kebab was tasty but not worth £11.50.

Places over an hour ago and called restaurant multiple times but was rude and wouldnt help further.

Ordered cheesy chip, 10 mins later they are ready, wasn't until I was 5 mins away that I discovered the cheese was completely unmelted, chips with ungrated cheese on top, lovely

Ordered a deal which included garlic bread, chips, pizza. No chips came. We ordered a side of chicken nuggets which were missing some.

My food never turned up, called them and was told they couldnt find me, called back after 20 minutes and was told the driver was outside mine for 15 minutes calling me and the intercom. Nobody called me or the intercom. Very disappointed.

The fish and chips was tiny for a large and wasn’t even a full fish but two small pieces like a kids meal, the chicken kebab meat was well and truly burnt and again tiny, the salad wasn’t fresh and lettuce was going brown,

Wrong Chicken sent and no chips, spoke to restaurant who said they would send replacements asap. 30 mins later still not arrived, so got a refund from Just Eat.

BOGOF Pizza was just one pizza, and not even the toppings ordered. Should have been 2 English Pizzas but had 1 plain cheese

We use BBQ House regularly and they are usually early so this was unusual for them!

Food late & cold. The SF chicken has little to no coating.

Food was hot. Chips were crispy but not over crispy or limp and white as we have had from other take aways locally. Much enjoyed. Thankyou.

Food was out for delivery for over an hour, ended up half hour late. I messaged the restaurant and had no response. Food finally turns up stone cold. Not a sorry from the driver just a grunt. Have ordered from here before and hasn’t been to bad. Has put me right off this experience.

Food over 30mins late, chips still frozen and fried chicken cold and dripping in oil! Asked for refund and was refused! I’ve ordered from here for years but it’s really gone downhill recently. Won’t be using anymore.
