One of the best McDonald’s I’ve been to. Clean, happy staff, male toilets were spacious and inviting and the seating area was moden and clean

Food ok but got fined for parking over 90 minutes what a con . I hate these places they prey on family's as lots of people eat have the kids playing in playhouse then get some afters maybe a coffee then slam you with a fine

Very slow service all that seems important was doing the deliveries

I was getting my granddaughter a meal there, I don't eat there meals but my grandchildren love McDonald's

waited over an hour for my order, asked numerous staff where it was and got the manager involved, manager takes my receipt, goes in the back. 10 minutes later she’s back with no food and no receipt. I ask her again and she has a meltdown and denies me ever giving her my receipt? Thankfully a young lass went and found my receipt crumpled up and she made my order, order placed at 10:20am food received at 11:30am.

If you need to pay at the till you need to be standing there for a good 8 minutes being completely ignored by one of 15 staff that are bizzy chatting to one another about their weekend bender, then your required to call for service which trained staff make a point in rolling their eyeballs up and over left to right, followed by a cupple of huffs and puffs followed by dragging their knuckles along the floor towards the paying customers. (I'm deaf so take note of this one.....I LIPREAD VERY WELL SO NEXT TIME DONT MOVE YA MOUTH WHEN YOU HAVE CUSTOMERS WAITING....) shame I'm having to point this out but next time I hope I can give a positive review.

Sooooooo slow, worst McDonald’s I have ever been too. All employees are just standing around. Not overly busy for a long wait to be justified.

Was in the queue then placed my order. Waited ages to get to the window then was told that they can’t serve anyone as the system was down. I had cash but made no difference. I feel that the profit that McDonald’s make they could have given the people who had already been served their food but was just sent away! Disgraceful really!

Twenty four minutes to collect two burgers with no modifications is simply not acceptable. "Fast food" smh.

The food was great once we got it. I was left trying to flag someone down to serve me at the counter as my Nan wanted to treat her great grand kids to a McDonald’s and only had cash to pay with. I had what appeared to be the manager pop to the counter but not even acknowledge my existence! I can understand how busy the place was, and would have been more than understanding if I ! and also a que of people behind me were simply acknowledged with a simple “sorry I’ll be with you shortly” But NOTHING. Even other staff approached the till with zero acknowledgment when trying to grab their attention. I waited over 15 minutes before given up ! And told my Nan I’ll simply pay on the self service screen. To then wait over 20 minutes for food due to being absolutely chaotic and clearly making just eat orders a priority then the actual customer infront of them. Will not be coming to this McDonald’s again ! All of them appear to be going down hill with crap customer service in my opinion. It’s a shame. Takes away the point of it being fast food.

Always something not available on the menu, and you're stuck in the drive-thru queue until everyone in front has been served. There was no way of exiting earlier if needed. All 3 bins at the car park exit are always full and overflowing. Rats, foxes, and seagulls all around.

McDonalds is going down hill. Incredibly. Since takeaway orders take a priority over waiting customers. It's nuts. Decided drive through as had 2hr drive home with 5 hungry passengers. Had to go in because double big mac was just a standard big mac. Then had to go back in because a burger missing. Not to mention the 20 minute wait in the car park because they were just parking people up. It was a Friday about 6.30pm. But I can't see why it takes so long now. And why everyone who orders has to park up and wait.

Iv'e only been here 3 times, all times, horrible experience. Last time I went, was sitting in the drive thru for half an hour, couldn't leave cuz of the curb, after my order was taken, another 10 minutes pass and I finally get the window, pay, 2nd window, wait, wait and wait. They tell me to go wait in the car park, 25 minutes pass by and they finally give me my food, It is cold, it would be nice if they didn't have a "Lack of Staff" all the time, I would advise going to the McDonald's on the A12 Motorway, one near Colchester Train Station or Near Smyths Toys Superstores. 1 STAR

I enjoyed the food it cost about 34£ for a large meal I buyed

Went today at approximately 1:30pm. Ordered my food as normal all was fine.(food came to a total of £15) When it came to paying they had soemhow messed it up. Which isnt a problem don’t get me wrong but this is where my experience went down hill. I repeated my order atlwast 5 times to different staff members. They then told me the person in front had paid for my order and I had to pay for there’s (there’s was £4 more!) the staff member then rolled her eyes at me and asked if I would park up and come inside. To which I said no as my disabled child was in the back. 5 mins later and I’m still sitting there repeating my order. They then asked me to pay cash which I couldn’t do as I didn’t have cash on me. Personally the way this was dealt with is not acceptable and I will not be returning. I would like this to be dealt woth as soon as. Oh and to top it all off they forgot my dip so my food was then dry!

Just waiting 25 minutes at the drive through for a treat for my children for breakfast. Went to the window to ask what was going on to be told they have no staff and it’s tough! Didn’t give us that option at the payment window to decide if we wanted to wait. Just took our money! The staff are rude and ignorant! No apologies nothing!! What’s happening McDonald’s? Time to review your staffing situation!

Can't cope with the quantity of customers. Having to park in the carpark (not the allocated spaces) and wait for runners to come out with your food. And it was throwing it down with rain and they had no coats, just their t-shirt and cap. Never using it again. I sat at the entrance of the drive through for over 10 minutes and no cars moved, 1 car sat at the first window. This place needs auditing and removing the double order machines and putting it back to 1, it worked better (just) then.

What an absolute joke this mc Donald's is I went and placed and order thought the app for 2 meals and done the click and collect in the bays we waits 40 minutes for our meals to arrive to use in the car. I had to go in my self and collect the order when I went to the counter tried speaking to someone and no one acknowledged me about my order. When I finally did speak to someone to Try and get my order it was not even there for me to collect when it was it was the wrong food I had to speak to the manager on shift and say to him it was wrong he finally got my order when I got home bearing in mind I only live a 3 minute car journey it was cold the burger the wrap and the chips I paid 15 pounds for this food and I was waiting well over an hour to get my food I will be not returning to mc Donald as of the poor service and the bad customer service

40 minute wait for cold food served by ignorant, disorganised lazy rude staff. At least 6 standing round doing nothing. When approached was told to speak to someone else. Manager just as rude. People asking for refunds. They more interested in doing just eat deliveries. Horrible individuals, horrible place

Disappointed with my order as I specifically ordereda burger with extra mayo and it came with nothing the drive through had nobody in it and they still asked me to wait. To top it all they blocked my number when I tried ringing up.

I watched 3 different orders get refunded before any orders started to come out. The staff seem directionless and not sure what to do. The only manager I saw in sight was running around like a headless chicken and to be honest it makes sense why the staff don't know what they're doing. When a woman got irate none of the crew trainers or managers attempted to get her order to her but instead they had a shouting match. I'd say I'm shocked but this seems to be par for the course for a Colchester McDonald's. There needs to be a serious change in training or management because this happens every single time I visit a branch in Colchester.

Was bluntly rejected at the entrance by staff and told, we're closed with no explanation or any option of being told when they will reopen.

The only 24 hour mcd in the area, but they choose to serve the low quality food during night, specifically after 11. It’s not a one time experience, every time they mess up with something. Poor service I should say.

Out cycling today, 19 June, after about 22 miles off road I really fancied a Maccers. Pulled into Colchester Leasure Centre branch, worried about my expensive bike I tried to use the drive through, it was pretty quiet so seemed a good solution. Sat on my bike for ages then a voice came over tannoy ‘remove helmets for the drive through!’ So I did, waited ages more, car pulls into next microphone and they take their order! I shout out ‘what about me?’ Real charmer comes on the mic, ‘we don’t serve bikes, cars only, it’s a drive through!’ With more than a hint of sarcasm and overloaded with rudeness. Now I understand that health and safety rules might well prevent bikes on the drive through, but a timely and polite ‘sorry, we don’t serve bikes on the drive through, please come into the restaurant and we can serve you.’ Would surely have been better. Have a nice day! Not!

Ordered 2 coffees and a flat bread and we’ve been waiting for at least 10 mins poor service. Hardly anyone at the restaurant just Uber Eat and Deliveroo drivers who seem to get priority. Flat bread was cold 🥶 coffee is hot which is something.

Would give 0 stars if i could, 25 minute wait in the drive through and then another 25 minute wait to get our food. Would be nice if they weren't "Short staffed" all the time. Food wasn't hot when it we finally recieved it after 50 minutes. then one of our 9 Nugget meals were missing and we waited another 10 minutes to get it. So in total we were here for 1 hour just for some maccers. Go to the one on the A12 Motorway or near Smiths toys, trust me.

Ordered food via the machine. There was about 5 other sets of people waiting plus about 5 delivery drivers with more turning up. I waited 30 mins to be served all the while delivery drivers were in and out in minutes. The McDonald’s treats walk in customers now is disgusting. Also my muffin wasn’t wrapped properly and all over the place in the bag.

An absolute shambles of a takeaway restaurant. Without fail every time we go, we end up with items missing and I mean EVERY TIME, whether it be an app order or in-person order, breakfast, lunch or dinner. Worst thing about it is, it still happens when it is quiet. Management clearly aren’t able to organise decent processes to get their staff to complete orders efficiently and correctly… Another bug-bear of mine with this location, is the fries portion sizes. Again consistently, if you order a large meal, expect to get about a third of the cardboard cup filled with limp fries. Not going to bother anymore and will drive elsewhere…

Worst mc ever. Would put 0 stars if posible. 30 min for 3 burgers. All diferent than what order. Spyce when orders plain and viceversa To many young staff that anly know to say let me get someone.

The new workers are really fast with my food, it came out a little cold but the workers done what they could in such a flash blazing atmosphere

Using the drive threw, the car parking area was full and they was still taking orders with nowhere to park. The food took 25 min to come out. (not a very fast, fast food order). Rather then stopping taking orders and allowing the staff to have a chance to catch up on orders, someone decided to allow orders to be taken. Unfortunately this was not a very good experience on this occasion.

Most horrible McDonald’s in the whole of Colchester, 3 customers waiting in the place and 2 cars at the drive thru and I only ordered 1 wrap with a bottle of water and it took them 15 minutes to get me that. Lack of attention to customers who ordered inside the restaurant absolutely ridiculous

By far, the worst McDonald's in the area if not the whole county. 35mins to wait for food in the drive through. Only 5 cars ahead of us in the queue, waited for about 15 before paying then asked to wait for food with the excuse of we're a bit busy at the moment. It looks like the least busy McDonald's you could ever visit. Truly terrible

Seems to be no organisation, waited 25 minutes for 4 meals. Lots of kids standing around talking behind the counter. The drive through seems to be the priority for service.

Such slow service. A lot of staff but wait ages for food mcflurrys and drinks made well in advance end up with a mcmelted. Lots of people bringing stuff back as seemed to be issues. If anyone reads these reviews come on sort it out. Seems a lack of management and direction behind the counter.

Terrible service. I used the app to pre-order. As usual, was told to park up and wait. No big issue with that, but they tried to hand me incorrect orders twice. I gave up and went inside and one staff member personally sorted it out. This happened last time too. I’ll probably go back to ordering on drive through.

Standard McDonald's, not very clean, but overall ok. There is parking for cars, a poppy drive, a summer playground, a children's playground with a slide and climbing frame.

I've been in Colchester for a couple of days, popping in to see my mates. Just yesterday, I swung by McDonald's at Colchester leisure world. Gotta give a shoutout to the lass who sorted out my flurry, she was spot on with the ice cream portion. Usually, I end up with a tiny dollop, which winds me up, but not this time! Think her name was Anjaly, if memory serves me right. Couldn't quite make it out yesterday, but she's definitely got the knack. Well pleased with the service, I must say. Why is it so slow on a Sunday at 6pm? We were hoping for fast food!

Went to the drive through which had a small queue of about 5 cars. That took about 45 minutes to actually get to the window for ordering. We ordered a chicken big mac and a sweet chilli wrap meals. Had to wait again for a while to get to the food window. Was then passed a bag with a fillet of fish and a big mac, so we had to wait for someone to return to tell we had the wrong order. We were then given no apology but were given a bag with what looked like the correct order. Unfortunately not as the wrap was right bur the chicken big mac was missing most of the filling and half a bun.

I don’t usually write reviews but I’m so shaken up because one of the members of staff Lexi came over to our table. Swearing and shouting and scaring my children after I complained at the til about our food being 30 minutes late and sat on the side for 15 minutes. I will be contacting head office and the Franchise owner.

Didn't put chocolate sauce. so I asked the lady to put chocolate sauce but said it ran out so they put cream egg sauce in. And they did the same thing to my friend but they did put chocolate sauce in my friend Mc furry. So they lied!

Horrendous service, I'd advise you not to go there if you have allergies because they will not accommodate you. I have a dairy allergy so asked for them to swap a vegan cheese for a dairy cheese but the manager decided they couldn't do it as a policy, which I know is untrue as other McDonald's have been more than helpful in numerous places. He then tried to bamboozle us with "Natasha's law" which states that all allergens have to be clearly displayed, it doesn't say you can't swap an allergen for a non allergen product as the manager tried to say. Yes it is a discretion thing but how hard is it to do a simple swap and not lie about it. Will definitely not going there again.

Ordered via the App whilst at the restaurant - inordinate delay in food arriving at the table and had to wait in queue to speak to someone and then wait again to pick up ourselves from the counter. On opening our youngest's Happy Meal - fruit bag missing, so had to go back to counter and queue again ! 'Extras' missing from Happy Meals at this restaurant is a regular occurrence for us 😠

Waited for drive through order for over 20mins when it was quiet. (2 double cheese burgers and quarter pounder meal) Fries were cold, a burger missing from my order then expected to wait for there mistake while the rest of my food sat getting cold. Ended up walking out without fries as there was no urgency or apology

Great place........v.healthy in my book despite some views. I always have medium chips & a cheese burger without sauce( u have to go to to till for taking out sauces) but I prefer this & have twice been served by 'Caroline' who is v.early friendly & calm, answers yr questions & doesn't rush you! Clean loos / plenty seats / hardworking staff/ lovely outdoor space inc. children's play area/big car park, directly opposite the range, nr 'gobananas' in front of colchester's beautiful big park, next dr to the leisure centre & its partner building aqua springs! The hrly no.4 bus runs on cowdray avenue & jst 20 min walk from premiere inn, majestic wines. Beefeater & Col North train station!

Bins unemptied, litter and food waste all over the place, attracting dirty pigeons and seagulls. A big corporation like this should be doing better.

Yet again, second day in a row my delivery turns up only after taking nine minutes in a car both times, it comes in the brown bags that are meant to be sealed. None of them were sealed. They both came out of somebody’s boot, just the boot not in a bag just out the boot so stone cold. This happens so often and when you’re down that way when you go to the drive-through they can’t manage that either they get everything wrong how that place is still in business I don’t Knowit should be boycotted it’s a rip-off they have people on mountain bikes, biking miles with inadequate food heating bags. Why do people put up with it I wouldn’t have given them one star if I had a choice but I wanted to post this review

Everytime I come here to grab McFlurrys as it says in the app McFlurrys are AVAILABLE. They always tell me afterwords that they are not available. I feel like with 30+ staff in the work place you would assume at least 1 person can update the McDonald’s app. I’ve driven 20 minutes for these McFlurrys to now have to drive another 20 minutes to a McDonald’s that actually have McFlurrys. It’s just simply lazy behaviour and such a let down

I recently visited McDonald's, and I must say it felt like the straw that broke the camel's back. McDonald's seems to have lost its charm as a quick and affordable option. The introduction of various ordering styles has only complicated the process. I miss the simplicity of queuing at traditional tills instead of the confusing number system. The attempt to modernize with delivery to table or car via a touchscreen system felt cumbersome and slow. The interaction with the Just Eat driver was less than efficient, and the printed receipt never work only added to the frustration. McDonald's, please consider returning to a more straightforward approach for the sake of customer satisfaction.

Regularly disappointing. Defo recommend that you double check your drive through orders before leaving!! Every order we have collected from this McDonald’s is missing items or customised items (E.g plain burgers for our kids happy meal) have not been applied. This happens frequently and happens when the drive through is busy or not. Generally we try not to use this Mcdo for this reason. Updated review and knocked down food score as in addition to missing a full McMuffin meal (didn’t spot this until we had got home) the pancakes we did get were really tough/ hard and the sausage patties were over done and slightly charred - is there any quality review or checks being carried out here?
