20-03-2025 on a am breakfast. We arrived today to have a breakfast for two, the staff on entry was fine. We went to the food counter and pick up a plates to self serve our self's. I had to pick up and remove atleast eight to ten plates from the stack as everyone of them had food on them. I had no one to report to and bring it to there attention at the food hot plate and did call out several times. Eventually the staff that served us, when we walked past, I told her of this issue, and stopped other customers from using the plates. As a food and hygiene risk to others, is very poor as the plates looked like they had been sprayed off but not washed correctly. I'm sorry this was disgusting and I will seriously consider not going to a toby carvery, if this is what I have to look forward to.... I do have photographic evidence as well. It was disgusting considering I go to toby many carvery's in essex all the time.

Perrywood have ruined this restaurant. Menu changed for some reason and not for the better. How can you serve lunch and not have any options for sandwiches, jacket potatos or chips??? Prices are so expensive. £8 for a pre-made baguette that has been sat in a cooler cabinet for ages. Served on a cardboard box with no side salad or even a plate! I had to go and ask for a plate. Its ridiculous. Will not be going back unless they sort this out and go back to the old menu. The poor staff had to deal with lots of complaints. Also, the place is so cold. Kept my coat on the whole time I was there.

Really lovely pub/restaurant. Been to Battlesbridge many times but never been in the Barge before as gluten free, so presumed they wouldn’t do this. Took a chance this time as hungry and how wrong was I? Great menu. Wasn’t goi g to have a starter but they had White bait GF and haven’t had this in years. Delicious. Then had the pork/bacon egg and chips. Absolutely lovely. Portions were good. Husband had chicken wings starts and the Wednesday roast lamb. So nice we didn’t want to leave anything but I had to. Daughter had white bait and Barge burger. Everyone enjoyed their options. Staff were excellent. Very friendly and helpful. Great value for money. This is really a little gem.
