As per my previous review when we came here last year we were very disappointed with the quality of the food which seems to have gone down hill since the granddaughter has taken it over. We thought maybe it had improved. Not so. We popped in and looked over the menu, half of it is missing and the prices are up by 30%! A single scone with cream and jam is now £4.00. Bear in mind that these are not freshly made as they were before. Jump to the breakfast and the prices are extortionate. Between 8 and £11.00 for a breakfast which does not include any hot drink. We literally got up and left. The portions do not warrant the price at all. On speaking to a trader at the Centre she informed me that the granddaughter has had a lot of renovation done in the kitchen so is probably trying to recover the money! Yes I get that electricity etc is up, yes I get that food is up but really nigh on doubling the prices form last year is ridiculous especially when you are getting less for your money. Wont be going back as I cant see it getting any better.

It’s always a treat to visit the barn on a warm spring day, the staff are forever friendly and kind offering a wide range of classic tea room treats and refreshing drinks at a honest price. I could even bring my pooch for a sit in the shade because they even offered him a water bowl bless their hearts. And the views and scenery is second to none in Essex, a classic English tea room with warming heritage vibes ! 6/5 stars !!

Dreadful food. Had a sausage roll, 2 scones and cream and 2 cups of tea. The sausage roll was heated in the microwave, the pastry was soggy and disgusting. It was like eating a wet sock. In all honesty I should have sent it back. The scones were average and the cream smelt like cheese, we left most of these. The tea was served in mugs, you’d expect in a tea room to get it in teapots and be able to pour it yourself and add your own milk. The tea itself tasted cheap and of low quality just like the food. This place has got it all wrong. The staff themselves were friendly but other than this, we couldn’t say anything else positive. Don’t waste your money.

Visited Saturday 23rd October 2021. Been once before, it was only fair service, but to be honest we were stranded and desperate for coffee and breakfast. We arrived at 10am. after 5 minute wait were told they weren't ready to do food but would get us a drink. We ordered a coffee and a tea and sat waiting. We could hear the staff in the next room talking about going out that night, that they need to eat rice, potatoes or bread to help them soak up the alcohol. the drinks arrived, after about 8 minutes, then the owner (or manager) took out order. we ordered one full breakfast and one double egg on toast with tomatoes. About 20 minutes later the full breakfast arrived. Had to go ask for condiments. Full breakfast eaten, still waiting for second breakfast. Gave them another ten minutes then gave up. It wasn't coming was it. Went to the counter, with £10 to cover the 1 breakfast and two drinks. The young girl looked baffled at my husband. She said 'that's £16.' not £10. I said, no, I havent even had my breakfast delivered. She said, oh, you should have reminded us. I said that it's not our job to remind you about our order. You were all too busy gossiping. you are getting £10 to cover what we had and that you are all useless. She just stared as us so we walked away. Avoid like the plague, unless you want to keep having to remind them to fulfill your order, and you can bear the idle gossip. Absolutely appalling. It's terrible customer service. The manager needs sacking, unless she is the owner, if she is, she needs to find another vocation.

In area looking at antiques, decided to stop here for light lunch. Dissapointed to find that a Tea Room served our hot drinks in takeout cups and sandwiches on paper plates with plastic knives & forks. The menu sandwich choice read Thick hand cut Wiltshire ham, the sandwich turned up with one slice of thin cut ham. Sausage roll was cooked in microwave so pastry was soggy and a toasted tuna sandwich was not edible. Awful lunch! Addressed our complaint to the staff, was refunded back the Tuna sandwich. Doubtful we will rush back.

We visited the Haybarn Tea rooms for a Mothers day treat. The afternoon tea was simply amazing! we had freshly cut sandwiches, rolls, homemade cakes, cream and jam scones and fresh strawberries ! We couldn't finnish it all but were given little boxes to take home. The lady who runs it was so lovely and her friendly staff made us feel very welcome. I would totally recommend a visit to these lovely Tea rooms .

Such a cute little tea room. They carry a large range of some of the most delicious and nicest range of cakes, (and I do know my cakes) not forgetting the cream scones around this area. They are very reasonable and I have always had excellent service. I did hear somebody complain about their jacket potato with cheese being a bit dry but let’s face it, if that is your choice of filling what else can you expect, despite the ladies best efforts supplying heaps of butter and offering to melt the cheese, they just had to give in and realise they had a moaner on their hands.I have also seen the afternoon teas which are to die for, at £12.50 per head they are so reasonable compared to others around. I would recommend you give them a try, you will not be disappointed xx

I visited Haybarn Tearooms with two friends. We had an afternoon tea booked and would highly recommend. Beautiful view and spotlessly clean with friendly staff that greet you with a welcoming smile. The sandwiches and cakes were so fresh they were delicious, there was so much we couldn't eat them all so they gave us a box each to bring them home. Will definitely be back soon!

So having rediscovered Battlesbridge recently ( I used to freqeunt this place as a kid with my mum and dad some 40 years ago) we decided to try this little place. It is stunning and a proper vintage tea rooms. Lovely views as well onto the green and the pond. We opted for the ploughmans for myself and my daughter which was great, piece of chees, slice of carved ham, tomatoes, cucumber, lettuce, pot of branston, pot of coleslaw and chunk of french bread and a pickled onion, it was all lovely apart from the very soft pickled onions which we could not eat, the middles were literally mush. Hubby had a half of a french stick packed with cheese and ham. The ladies are lovely and will serve you whatever you want, ie if you dont want salad they will change for something else. We had already seen a customer outside attempting to eat the massive scones and decided we HAD to have those. They are huge (not cheap at £2.55 each) but I have to say they are big, fresh and are literally packed with cream and jam! (Look at the photos on Tripadvisor).Yum yum! Hubby ordered a pot of tea and he and my daughter got 7 cups of tea out of one pot! He said it was lovely tea too nice and strong. I ordered a latte but have to say it literally tasted like water. I suspect that it was a packet one so would not order this again. If you are visiting Battlesbridge Antiques Centre definitely pop into this place. Unlike the other tea rooms this place offers excellent value for money and the food is fresh. Waitresses are lovely and there is a very nice atmosphere in general. We will definitely being going back. It is also worth noting that the majority of the cakes are all home made, hence why you get a slice which is actually like a doorstop! Well done ladies.

We needed a cup of tea and this little cafe certainly delivered a lovely pot of tea. Sandwich choices were a bit limited, so we settled for pasties which after being microwaved weren't great. They filled a need though and although the cafe is tiny it did have a nice atmosphere and was clean and tidy.

We were staying in the hotel and this was the night of the Queen's funeral so we decided to 'eat in'. They only had one chef in the kitchen so it took a long time for our meals to appear. They did warn us when we sat down but it would have been nice to be told when we booked the table when we checked in. Food was nothing special but nothing to complain about either.

Restaurant/cafe Use regularly as normally nice and quiet....obviously not on a Saturday. Nice place to come for coffee and cake or light meal. Very good food. Top floor. A fair choice of food and drinks. Drinks machine could be hotter but hey ho. Not a life changing worry. Had to put review on here as staff who work here, particularly the younger staff are so polite friendly and cannot do enough to help, so they deserve a big shout out.

Hit the jackpot lol. Ordered a muffin, sandwich and a latte. Had a call to say the muffin I chose was still being cooked. Was given the choice of ordering a different one or wait. I waited and got a warm muffin yum
