Very disappointed. Have been there a couple of times for coffee and cake and were really impressed, so decided to book for a birthday lunch. It wasn't particularly busy, but we had a 45 minute wait before we were served with somebody else's meal. After explaining at booking that we needed a gluten free option and were told that this was not a problem, it clearly was. My partner was served halloumi cheese between 2 slices of gluten free under-cooked toast and it frankly looked embarrassing. I had the cottage pie, which was tasty, but it was the size of a school portion and was only just warm. It was like something Woolworths would have served in the 80s, but with much less veg. The accompanying vegetables looked beautiful, but would not have fed a hamster. One piece of sprouted broccoli, 4 beans, a single carrot baton and half a baby sweetcorn tied together by a strand of leek and it was stone cold. Certainly not worth £14. I knew I should have gone for the burger, which actually looked very good. I think we shall stick with The Fox, which is just a few more minutes along the road. Normally we don't need to eat again after a decent lunch, but that was not a decent lunch and we have had to make an evening meal. I posted my thoughts on their facebook page and received a response from the owner saying "Oh thank you !! XX", which clearly shows that they had not read my posting and really are not interested in their customers.

Food disappointing The scones were nice but we were given one small pot of jam & cream between 3 people, rather than our own pots. The sandwiches and cakes were poor. Strange fillings in the sandwiches & the egg tasted strongly of garlic. The cakes were awful. The service was fine/average, although an £18 service charge is too steep. The best part was the fantastic guy on the door who welcomed us and moved our car. So friendly & an asset to the hotel.

We visited this pub for a wake. It was my first visit. The Red Lion is a lovely country pub with a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Two quality ales were available and appreciated. The buffet food was excellent. The experienced landlord made a point of checking that everything had been satisfactory. I am not local, but have family within reach and will try to visit again.

Lovely lunch, hadn’t booked but we were shown to a table quickly in a nice area of the restaurant. Love that it’s dog friendly. Well looked after by a very lovely and busy waitress, food was great, we have been before and it didn’t disappoint on our second visit! Thank you

I have just looked at the reviews for this restaurant which I was very surprised to see they were mixed! Last night we went out with friends for a Valentine’s Day dinner. Upon arrival was a restaurant beautifully and tastefully decorated. The tables and lighting looked amazing! Very charming lady and gentleman looked after us. Glass of champagne on arrival and the atmosphere was lovely. Our meal was gorgeous. The presentation was so nice it seemed to ashame to eat it! I have to say, yes, we did have to wait between courses, as they only had 2 people serving everyone. But I don’t want to rush through my courses, I like to have a breather in between so it wasn’t a problem at all. It was perfect. Just like to say a big thank you for such a lovely dining experience. You both made our Valentine’s Day a delightful one 💖 We will definitely be back!

This is a lovely little restaurant/cafe on the route around Whipsnade. We all had pizzas which were reasonably priced and very filling, and came very quickly. There are baby chairs available and it is a pleasant setting overlooking the rolling hills-- you would hope the was was nice for somewhere called the viewpoint, and it is! No complaints really-- just nothing exceptionally good, and the tables were a little bit sticky. Definitely a nice spot on site if you want something more than a sandwich while at the zoo.

We were at the zoo during a rainy day, and the experience from this restaurant put more a dampener on a great day than the weather. We were seated very quickly and told to scan the QR code to order food and drink, which was alittle confusing and full of additional costs, and some options and info seemed missing. Before the order was completed servers already approaching our table with drinks for others, causing them to huff away, and overly exciting our children. With the order completed online and paid for we waited 5 mins for drinks and then another 10/15 for the food. When the food came it was disappointing, cold grilled chicken on one portion of nachos, which was returned to a very confused server. The other meals arrived including my own. I had ordered the pork meatballs with gnocchi and paid for added garlic bread. I was given the 2 meatball starter and no garlic bread. I asked the server if this was correct and he said yes. Shortly after another server asked if everything was alright so again I questioned it. After having to prove I had ordered the bigger meal, I got a rather Luke warm version of the dish and still no garlic bread. By now lunch service was in full swing so just thought I had more chance of dodging the rain drops outside than getting a hot meal with garlic bread I had ordered. No fault of the servers but we were then rushed out of table by a rude group who had clearly understated how many were actually in the group. Further more having spending as much as we had for none of us really satisfied with the lunch it was disappointing to see other families allowed to sit in the restaurant with their own pack lunches. Hoping to return to the zoo soon but will bring our own food. Still a great place, just not this restaurant
