The packhorse Pub in Central Bedfordshire

Very nice place nice food, only issue was car parking, it was little different when busy.

Friend called in to book table for following evening as phone number appeared not to connect. Arranged for 6 pm the following evening. Arrived just before 6, gate to car park shut. Drove around waiting until just after 6, gate still closed, attended a third time around 6.30, gate still closed. Nowhere to park given location and busy junction so we gave up. Shame, their loss!

Came here on the way home from the zoo. Great food, we all enjoyed it a lot. The owner offered kids portions for my little ones which was great. We had the jerk chicken and goat curry and enjoyed all of it. Would definitely come back

The food is incredible!!! Curried goat, Oxtail and wings were all exquisite. Handy for being just off M1. Tried to book on phone but no answer so we walked in. We were the only people in the restaurant. Staff told us on arrival they were very busy with take away orders and they have no alcohol licence. We asked what was available quickly and they came up with the goods. They were so hospitable that it felt like we were eating in someone's house. Lovely tunes too. Wings to start. Main course. Some soft drinks. £15 per head. Get the licence, the customers and the food and friendliness will take this place off the scale.

Was at a day party, reached Early so we wondered about, Every calm and quiet environment with clean fresh air. Beautiful garden, which the party was held at. Very lovely place.

The jerk chicken is legitimately the tastiest chicken I've ever eaten. Friendly people more than happy to talk and explain things. Recommend this place highly!

Landlord good but need to move travellers out

Barman said he'd taken over the place a couple of months ago. We ordered jerk chicken with rice and peas which came with a little salad; and steamed veg with rice and peas and salad. Both were tasty and hot, although a bit more chicken would have been great. Table was a bit wobbly. The biggest thing that lets the place down are the toilets 😞 hence 3* for atmosphere (since you can't rate cleanliness on this review). However staff were friendly and helpful and the food was inexpensive.

So very friendly and homely. Both the Curry Goat and Jerk Chicken were lovely. Monday nights are very quiet and therefore you can just sit and chat, putting the world to rights. We're going to try a Saturday or Friday next time to check out the more lively Jamaican atmosphere!

Good place to hole a good vybz.

My son had a first communion yesterday Saturday 11 June 22. Lovely day. Sunday 12th went back. Felt like a drink. Barmaid was quite. Not like the day before. Day before she had a smile and chatted with the customers. Sunday. Walked in the pub with my two grandson. The barmaids mother ( I presume it was her mother) was quite rude. Told me i was drunk. I shouldn't be in the pub with children. Youngest grandson 12 years. Older grandson 18 years. I'm a responsible adult and an ex licensee. My rating for the pub and staff Saturday 5 🌟. Sunday not zero stars but minus 5 stars ✨.

Pub was hosting a wake for the local traveller community. All guest appeared gappy enough If nearer i wouldn't mind trying the jerk chicken

Great food loved the back yard felt i was in holiday in Jamaica as on a Saturday night they have a party with bba jerk I think. the owner is really friendly.

Worst jerk chicken I have had the misfortune to try, extremely over cooked. The rice and peas was ok.

In the middle of nowhere we didn't expect to meet such friendliness and awesome food. Well worth a visit

Under new ownership, it's now a family place doing carribean food! Had a great curried goat, could have been spicier mind you but I'll be back to try the other dishes soon. Homely as hell atmosphere so perhaps avoid if you're looking for a more traditional restraunt experience, we loved it. Only issue we had was that the place seemed to have opened a good couple hours later than the stated time and some of the food wasn't ready yet. That being said they still opened up the doors and set up the bar happy to accommodate us. Had a big party the night before so I'm guessing they had a late one. Have a feeling this place will only get better 👍

We went here early this eve had curry goat. Was delicious will definitely be going back very soon the staff was lovely and friendly

Toilets were absolutely disgusting. Would seriously think twice before eating there.

Never Again ! This restaurant has gone from bad to worse. Living in Kensworth we try to support local businesses as much as possible. We made the mistake of ordering a take away for four guests at our home. Strictly vegetarian so we ordered vegetarian spring rolls, and other vegetarian dishes. ALL either contained or were cooked with meat. Our guests were literally vomiting after starters. We rang the restaurant who were not in the least interested in sorting out the problem. This is a place to avoid at all costs especially if you have food allergies.

Absolutely disgusted at the way we have just been treated! It’s a Saturday evening wanting to take our 4 young children out for a meal. We pull up in the car park located opposite to see it’s looks a bit eiry!! Any way benefit of the doubt in we walk to be greated with the smell of cigarette smoke!! Any ways in to he empty restaurant we walk to which every table was laid!!! To see no one for at least a minute to be greated by a man from behind the counter, we ask if the restaurant is open and he reply’s yes!! He then looks at the children and grunts and then tells us actually take away only!!! Avoid this restaurant absolutely disgusting customer service any empty restaurant would surely be great ful for 6 dining customers
