This place is awesome, the food is the best I have had in ages, the roast is an amazing, great portion size and fairly priced, the staff are also super friendly. I can’t wait to go back.

I love going to this dog friendly, child friendly pub. With a little park area for the kiddies too, great food and great service set in a lovely location. Staff were lovely and went above and beyond to make sure we had the best time. 👌

i come here often and every trip is a lovely meal out with either friends or family, so glad they welcome dogs into the bar area and my children were over the moon to see the play area outside, would recommend this pub to everyone, such welcoming staff and by far the best atmosphere compared to most pubs i’ve been in! always so impressed with the lovely food and large variety for drinks☺️

Visited once before it was ok, however we heard it was a good roast so thought we would try again. This time round was awful, I’m not sure how they’ve won best roast in beds, manager possibly owner was incredibly rude. Booked over a week in advance was told the pub was dog friendly, we arrived as a party of 6 to be turned away due to the table we booked wasn’t dog friendly, wasn’t told we were able to sit inside and simply rudely turned away despite knowing they had booked us for a birthday and had young children who were starving with us. When booking we was not told the entire pub was dog friendly just that the pub was dog friendly. Table was obviously booked incorrectly and they weren’t willing to work with us. Manger simply smirked and tried to send us on our way. We then asked to sit outside, we ordered starters and mains and asked the starters came first (usual). However the starters arrived at the same time as mains and were inedible. Despite the really poor food which we left and then noticed a majority of the pub had also left food too we were shocked by the rude manager, the girls behind the bar were nice though. I’d recommend avoiding this place due to not only our selves being unhappy but it only seemed accommodating and nice service to locals only drinking. We did not feel welcomed or looked after at all

First visit and was not disappointed, such a lovely traditional pub. The bar staff were so helpful and friendly.We were served an amazing lamb roast dinner and the extra cauliflower cheese was delicious 😋 Landlord and staff were first class and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend. If you want a table on Sunday you would be advised to book!

We think the Sunday roast cannot be beaten locally. Yesterday's was spoilt by a rowdy element at the bar using the "F" word constantly - in particular one well dressed (apparently afluent) person who should have known better with ladies and children present.

Had fish and chips.. batter was soggy - wouls not recommend. Staff super friendly and helpful..

Had a really lovely Sunday roast in this beautiful Country Pub with a choice of 3 meats. I can't recommend this pub enough for the food, staff, ambience, and a special mention to Gary the Landlord. What a lovely man, he was so welcoming and attentive to us and everyone that walked through the door. Making sure we were all comfortable and happy with our meal ect. He even showed care for our dog, and gave him a lovely big chew. We'll definitely be going back very soon.

Not eaten there but had a couple of beers,sat out the front and watched the world go by,seemed friendly enough.

Avoid the restaurant if you re after fresh home cooked savoury products... some items straight from (cheap ) supermarket packages!

Just turned up for evening meal as staying in the area. Had a lovely warm welcome and was made to feel comfortable as a single female traveler. The food was superb. Would recommend to anyone!

Had roasts for 8 people (1 a burger meal) and 5 kids meals! All the food was delicious, great portions and lovely atmosphere! All staff were so helpful, friendly and willing to accommodate even checking in on us! Definitely recommend!

Lovely cosy restaurant with roaring open fire. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately Sunday lunch typical of the fayre served at the moment in most restaurants, almost impossible to find a good Sunday roast. Firstly the roast potatoes: I like my roasties crispy which these were, but they were so crisp that there was no substance inside, no fluffy interior here, my aunt thought that they had maybe fried them. I love roast lamb and was so pleased to see on the menu. But this is extremely thin slices of what looks like pre cooked meat that has just been warmed up. Certainly not fresh slice s of carved lamb. The vegetables: nice to see parsnips on the menu But boiled cauliflower, I thought we'd come a long way since my school days. I like a traditional roast, but boiled cauliflower and carrots, you can do better than that I know that times are tough and restaurants are squeezed hard, but equally I have to be careful where I spend my money and this does not encourage me to return. Another disappointing Sunday lunch

Haven’t been to this pub for a few years. It’s always been nice but the first time I’ve eaten there. Wow, what a lovely Sunday roast! So great that unlike other local pubs you can get a roast after 4pm (4.45 last orders) and it was lovely. Huge portion with tasty thick gravy, beautifully cooked chicken, crispy roasts and fresh veg. Tables are displayed beautifully with candles and fresh flowers. Friendly and attentive staff. Despite a busy afternoon all plates and glasses were all cleared away. Enjoyable afternoon to evening and will be back. Pub is welcoming, has a lovely cosy decor, and it’s nice to support a local village pub rather than some of the chains where you are valued as a number not a customer.

Please do not go here, waitresses are lovely but that’s the only good thing I can say about this place, you wait over an hour for food and it’s dreadful. they also got half of our orders wrong and then when getting the bill they added an extra £35 of things we didn’t have. Terrible experience

Visited this pub for the first time tonight as my mate was doing a gig there.. wow, what a lovely place! Very warm and welcoming, very friendly staff, great food and drink.. Amazing how i have lived so close but never knew the place was there? Loved this pub and will definitely be back! Thanks for a great night out 👍

Nice location but very pricey! £13.75 for a ploughman's lunch that was frankly quite stingy - was still hungry when I finished it! There was poo next to our table which I very nearly trod in!

What a lovely pub in a beautiful setting, first time in Studham and popped in here for Sunday roast which was fantastic ended up sitting in the beer garden for the rest of the day staff and owner Gary were great hosts definitely be back here again and would highly recommend it for food and drinks it was a delight

Ideal destination for lunch on a walk from Markyate. Good range of meat free choices. Pretty, traditional interior and range of covered and uncovered seating outside. Serves Adnams too, always a bonus!

A lovely, well kept and friendly village pub. Best ploughman's I've had in a long time. Was cycling and it was a hot day -- bar staff were kind and provided iced tap water to replenish my hydration bag. Ate in the shade of the large gazebo in front of the pub. Will definitely be back.

Great little pub in studham dog friendly food is good and good range of beers

Delightful country pub - great beers, nice ambiance, and a snug in which to eat your Sunday roast! We had a choice of 3 meats, with fresh veg, Yorkshire pud, roast potatoes and honey parsnips, all smothered in proper meaty gravy!! The lamb was superb, see photo attached. Delicious! The staff there all deserve an honourable mention for their great service. We shall return!

Great pub, right in the middle of Studham, walks all around. Hidden gem, inside its perfect!

They were able to squeeze 11 of us in for dinner in the bar area, with dogs! Food was much better than I was expecting. Realty liked it here!

Lovely looking old-school public house. Popped in there for a quick midweek evening drink after walking up into Studham. Tho the old-schoolness did seem to extend to all the regulars who didn't budge an inch to accommodate my missus trying to buy a round 🤔

Had a wonderful experience for a special occasion in one of the Pods. Food was superb and staff very helpful and friendly.

Came in here for the first time yesterday afternoon planning a very quick drink. Was so taken by the decor, the staff and the busy atmosphere kept me there for almost twiohours. Had to leave or else I would have gladly stayed there all evening. Too many of these places are being lost and it was heartening to see it so busy and vibrant on a Saturday afternoon. Can't wait to return.

Had a pub lunch here on the bank holiday and was very impressed. The customer service was great. The pub was dog friendly and our nervous dog managed to relax after a long walk. The staff were really friendly and attentive and went above and beyond. The owner came to check everything was okay with our meal and the lady behind the bar was very helpful with our order and more than happy to check with the chef if there were vegan options. Another positive was that the ladies toilets supplied sanitary towels which unfortunately most places don’t. Overall very good experience.

Wonderful atmosphere and excellent mulled wine.

A small group of us went for Sunday lunch. I have to say that it was delicious, and lamb was an option, which is not common. The best bit for me was the gravy; it was made with proper meat juices and the best I have had in a very long time.

Had a very good lunch here yesterday with my friend. We chose to eat in their very cosy dining room, softly lit in candle light, and they have added so many interesting decorative objects. Staff are friendly and looked after us so well. We both ate Nachos with melted cheese, Avocado, Sour Cream Jalapenos and of course Salsa. Recommended.

All great fun and lots going on

Went there for lunch , we both decided to have a BLT on granary bread . When the sandwiches arrived the bread was so thin the spread made the sandwiches slippery and difficult to pic up and eat . The bacon was very fatty and not very well cooked .

Came in today for lunch we was very late but ,But the lovely staff still done a beautiful lunch for the 3 of us .The food was really nicely presented and tasted great the staff was all so friendly and welcoming and nothing was to much ,my grandaughter loved the garden and the play area a real bonus lovely marquee as well as garden i look forward to returning a big thankyou to all staff and a extra thankyou to the chef for on xx

We used it as a meeting point and had drinks - booked ahead, reserved a table so simple and helpful Had deeeeelicious cocktails!!! Really a great start to the evening. Will be returning if we pass through!!
