We have been going to Cheers for many years and have never faulted the food, ambience and service. Went last Saturday night after a few months away. The new manager Pedro explained that Mario the owner was in Norwich and he had been working at the same restaurant for the past 10 years or so and had started as a dish washer and was now Manager. This is the way to run a family restaurant and everything was as good as always. The stone cooked steak and Prawns were excellent, a really good evening. Thankyou Pedro and Mario.

The pub itself was cosy and not crowded on a weekday lunch time. Good choice of drinks. However, the food menu was limited. The pies were said to be home-made, so we tried the “churchwardens” pie which was sausage meat with a mild chili sauce. Don’t think that worked out, so perhaps we should have had the standard steak and mushroom or chicken and leek pies. It came as a slice, with chips/potatoes and cooked veg or salad. Apart from the pies, there was steak, breaded fish, scampi or ham/sausage/egg fry-ups. Perhaps will return to try something else on the menu if ever in the area again.

We had a lovely stay at the Bedingfeld Arms in Wissington. We chose to stay here for our business trip. The atmosphere was welcoming from the moment we arrived – full of charm and character, yet still cosy and relaxed. The room was comfortable, clean, and tastefully decorated, with thoughtful touches that made it feel special. We really appreciated the peaceful setting – perfect for a quiet getaway. The food was a highlight. Dinner was delicious and clearly prepared with care, and breakfast the next morning was just as good – fresh, generous, and satisfying. The staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and their local knowledge really added to the experience. Overall, a really enjoyable stay in a lovely spot. We’d definitely return.

We stayed one night in our camper-van in the car park at the Great Danes country Inn at Beachamwell (a small pretty village near Swaffham) as a stop-over on the way to the Norfolk Broads. Roger made us very welcome and although the restaurant was closed they served take-out food. We were expecting cardboard cartons etc. but Roger came out with a tray, china and cutlery promptly at the time we requested. The food was very good - piping hot and generous portions and great value at around £20 for two servings. Definitely recommend.
