I agree with previous reviews about setting and facilities - all great. We had visited on previous occasions and always enjoyed the experience. However I am guessing that we caught the Bedingfeld Arms at their leist desired serving time, and definitely on an off day. Our timing was for 6.30pm on Sunday 10th of November. Upon arrival, which was fortunately slightly early, we were shown to our table and advised that we had seven minutes to order, and that 60% of the menu was not available. We had not been advised prior to our arival (they had our phone number) of the tight timing or lack of menu items. Food was ordered - 3 burgers and one Pheasant dish as this was all they had. Upon arrival of the food the waitress, who was clearly under pressure from the front of house lady and the Chef, was dealing with who had what relish for which burger etc... when the front of house lady came over and lambasted the waitress saying something about the Chef needing to be informed propery - no idea what that was about, but it was seriously cringeworhty and unprofessional to have been holding that conversation in front of us. We duduced that the Chef was the worry for the staff at front of house, and it seemed that he and the kithcn staff just didn't want to be there. The food was good, and the waitress and bar staff extremely pleasant - they were apologising for the Chef and the restrictions to our meal - which gave us a good idea of where the pressure and unpleasant atmosphere was coming from. I have written directly to the Bedingfeld Arms via there website, but as of two weeks later I have had no reply. Seeing all of the other reviews, which mirror my previous experience, I would just recommend avoiding a Sunday evenings.

We booked our table in advance On arrival we were shown to our table by the front of house manager, we were given menus then ......nothing, no drinks order taken no food order taken eventually tired of being ignored I found someone who seemed horrified by the poor service and blaming the front of house manager who showed us to the table... so not the best start. However once this was resolved The food was as usual fantastic and the remainder of the service was very good too

The pub itself was cosy and not crowded on a weekday lunch time. Good choice of drinks. However, the food menu was limited. The pies were said to be home-made, so we tried the “churchwardens” pie which was sausage meat with a mild chili sauce. Don’t think that worked out, so perhaps we should have had the standard steak and mushroom or chicken and leek pies. It came as a slice, with chips/potatoes and cooked veg or salad. Apart from the pies, there was steak, breaded fish, scampi or ham/sausage/egg fry-ups. Perhaps will return to try something else on the menu if ever in the area again.

Superb atmosphere. Friendly, local pub feel alongside warmth of reception by staff & all visitors to pub & dining too. Food of excellent quality too, Treated so wonderfully & could relax and feel ready to chat & laugh & enjoy our time we spent there. It’s once again a truly huge Thank you and praise to everyone as this is the 6th time visited and will keep on returning. We left with an incredible uplift to “our spirits and our tummies too”

We stayed one night in our camper-van in the car park at the Great Danes country Inn at Beachamwell (a small pretty village near Swaffham) as a stop-over on the way to the Norfolk Broads. Roger made us very welcome and although the restaurant was closed they served take-out food. We were expecting cardboard cartons etc. but Roger came out with a tray, china and cutlery promptly at the time we requested. The food was very good - piping hot and generous portions and great value at around £20 for two servings. Definitely recommend.
