We stayed one night in our camper-van in the car park at the Great Danes country Inn at Beachamwell (a small pretty village near Swaffham) as a stop-over on the way to the Norfolk Broads. Roger made us very welcome and although the restaurant was closed they served take-out food. We were expecting cardboard cartons etc. but Roger came out with a tray, china and cutlery promptly at the time we requested. The food was very good - piping hot and generous portions and great value at around £20 for two servings. Definitely recommend.

A simply delightful B&B, the owners couldn’t have been more accommodating. The Great Danes has a wonderfully homely feel and yet perfectly appointed. Highly recommended.

What a gem of a find, off the beaten track but only a few miles from Swaffham and Marham. Fantastic hosts, clean large comfortable room, excellent food & all at reasonable price. Self service continental breakfast with plenty of choice at no extra cost. What more could you want. Plenty of space in the car park. overlooking the village green and church. I look forward to a return visit.

I stayed in the B&B. After getting rid of the half dozen or so flies/moths in the room, I had a good night's sleep. Cereals/fruits are free for breakfast. The information pack says you can order a cooked breakfast for £7.50 but I was charged £10. Rip off?

Stopping over in our motorhome, free of charge if a meal I s purchased, otherwise £5. Met By A Very Nice Owner And His Wife. Both we extremely friendly. Situated in a quaint village v close to large RAF camp, (perfect for plane spotters). Had a v good meal and natter, felt like I had known the landlady forever, she even fed our dog a handful of treats. Wish this was our local.

My friend and I went into this country pub for lunch as we had been in before and the wife and husband were very attentive, nothing was too much trouble but this time was a different story. We went in to find the son? Who looked like he'd just got out of bed after an all night lock-in. Roasts were off as he hadn't put the meat in and so we settled for a lighter lunch but that seemed too much trouble. I had a jacket potato with tuna mayo but I was given an industrial sized pot of Mayo to mix in myself. My friend nearly broke a tooth on the extremely crisp baguette. Won't be going back

Our room was dated, I believe some have been modernised, the breakfast is continental but you can pay £7.5 each for full English. There is pretty good parking but nothing to see close bye. You are recommended not to drink the water, they provide bottled water free. Because of the location, pretty remote and not many people about we cannot recommend you stay here.

I have visited theis establishment a number of times over many years and have always had good food, friendly service and a pleasant atmosppher. In summer one can look across the village green to the church at the far end. a typical English village scene. I have aslo stayed there on one occasion and found the accommodation very good and the breakfast was also of a high standard.

Great food. Lovely welcoming owners. Found Carol really helpful as we were travelling from Australia and didn't even know the names of Uk supermarkets! Stayed in the carpark for free as an eat in the pub incentive. Loved the area.

This was one of the poorest stays that I have experienced in the UK. Initial impressions were that it was more like someone's cluttered home with a bar, rather than a pub. The barman/chef/housekeeper appeared to be overwhelmed with his workload. Breakfast was a selection of cereals and "breakfast biscuits" and guests were told to help themselves. There was no cooked breakfast option offered and no reason as to why this should be the case. The impression given was that it would be to much effort. During my stay I ordered one evening meal at the pub and was disappointed with the quality of the food and service received. I ordered the steak and mushroom pie, but found myself having to quiz the barman as to what accompanied the pie. I asked if I could have mashed potatoes to be told that was not possible, however chips were no problem? This again gave an impression of lack of motivation when it came to customer service. When the food arrived the chips were undercooked and the pie was more mushroom than steak, but okay. On asking for sauce to accompany the meal, I was escorted to a cupboard containing a wide variety of sauces and again told "help yourself". On seeing the crusts of dried sauce around the tops of the bottles, I thought better of it. There were two dogs present on the property, one of which yipped constantly when left alone. This became slightly irritating, however not as irritating as finding dog faeces on the landing one evening after a late return from work. This was gone by the next morning. The beds in the property were comfortable, however two nights of my stay I was woken by scratching from inside the walls of my room by what I can only assume to be rodents of some type. On informing the barman of this, he initially tried to blame it on the small dog at the property. I informed him that unless the dog had developed an ability to levitate to a height of between four and six feet and then able to move around at that level, it was highly unlikely to be the culprit. In summary, there was a general impression of malaise from the staff. My personal view is that this pub has potential but more effort needs to made. I will not be staying at these premises again and would not recommend anyone to stay here

Loved the food and the surroundings but the man serving made several negative and I thought, inappropriate comments. He clearly thinks he's being drily funny but his sense of humour is positively Saharan in its harshness.

One of the rudest most clueless bar tenders i have ever had the displeasure of meeting, The food was terrible, gammon.. rubbery and tastless, took 1 hour to be cooked despite having no other customers in. Told me before ordering that the food wasn;t that good and was overpriced???? If he;s the owner he needs to give his head a shake.... if he just works there... needs to be fired will not retunr to this place again unless i saw an "under new management sign"

If you're looking for the great British pub and dinner then look no further. Lovely village surroundings off the beaten track. Down to earth friendly homely staff and the quite obviously regular customers. Couple that atmosphere with outstanding food that has variety and flair, and you have the recipe for a very enjoyable outing. Not cheap but not expensive either, and I belive you get what you pay for. Definitely worth the trip out. Prices are based on a 3 course meal with 2 rounds of drinks.

My wife and I visited this 'Inn' for a meal after work, we had been advised by my wife's mother not to bother, as most of the locals avoid at all costs. However, we were tired and hungry and needed food! We arrived to be greated by the most obnoxious barman in Norfolk, who instead of offering a warm welcome, offered warm beer, and cheerfully joked as we looked at the menu that the food was all overpriced (which it turned out was true). Once we ordered our drinks, we then looked at the specials board for a few minutes and then went back to order the food. The barman was still holding our empty glasses as he started telling a "perplexed lorry driver" how he had been hand-braking his mother's car around the driveway that morning. He then disappeared out the back and re-appeared with a child's T-shirt explaining how it had been ordered for him but was too small etc.... We had still not received our drinks at this point, and when I asked him how he was getting along with the drinks, he was very short and sharp with me, telling me to calm down. We should have left at that point, but instead went on to order gammon egg and chips, and after about 20mins waiting for our food, the sarcastic barman came out and asked if we wanted potatoes and veg with it, not wanting to double up on our carbs, we said we assumed it would just come with chips and peas!! It appeared 40mins later, and it was awful, chewy, and tasteless. In short, you could get the same meal for better quality and less money at home. AVOID this place at all costs, it's always empty so that should speak volumes in it's self !!!

This was a regular stop for their wonderful cakes and breakfasts. They had been advertising afternoon teas so we decided to treat ourselves just before going on holiday. We booked a few weeks in advance but when we arrived on the day we found the gates locked. We did see the owner leaving but he just said "we're closed - got no staff" and drove off. The whole garden center has been closed since and word is they went bankrupt. We feel really sorry for the wonderful staff and can only hope they found something else 😢

We had an event at the local Snetterton Race circuit and needed a local overnight stay for 4 of us. This was a late booking with a tight budget but on the web the place looked nice, charismatic and within budget. Booking was through booking.com and I immediately received plenty of information regarding the booking and confirmations etc. On arrival these notes proved spot on with regards to location, key collection etc. The room was very clean, functional and if a little dated, well equipped. I think the microwave, fridge etc was a bit of a covid hangover but nevertheless a welcome addition. TV was a little limited on channels but other than that fine. We did eat in the main restaurant and I thought it was pretty good. It was not high end fussy nonsense, just a generous helping of good food and in my opinion reasonably priced. Staff and service was excellent. Beds were comfortable, room was quiet, all in all ticked all the boxes. Thank you to the team at the Willows.
