Can’t thank these guys enough for doing our evening food for our wedding. Food was amazing - best pizzas, freshly made. Nothing was too much. Communication right up to the wedding was brilliant, friendly and then on the day they made such an effort to check in with us and speak to guests. Pizza left in our room at the end of the night was the highlight. Highly recommend. We’ll be using them again if we can find an excuse for a pizza van!

We got our lunch from this lovely little place, excellent rolls with tasty fillings and with the tasty treats on offer we went back for some cake for afters.

I’ve been to the Whyte Melville on several occasions and have always had an enjoyable time - now I know that this is because I have never had the displeasure of bumping into the manager. Last week, a friend and I wanted to go just for a couple of drinks. We rang and booked a table (bearing in mind I had visited just a few weeks prior for a drink and was allowed to sit at a table). Shortly after we arrived, the manager came over (all pleasant) with a menu; we explained that we weren’t eating and were only here for some drinks. With that, his demeanour suddenly changed and he shouted that we weren’t allowed to sit at the table if we didn’t eat anything. He proclaimed ‘THIS IS THE BUSIEST SATURDAY OF THE YEAR!!!’ We said ah ok so sorry about that, we’ll order some food then. ‘What, a burger?!’ he scoffed. He then snatched the menus from our hands and shouted ‘I’m going to get your bill and you’re going to pay it now and get off the table.’ There was no need for him to be so loud and so rude towards us, we were polite and didn’t argue back, yet he insisted on making a scene in front of the other guests and embarrassing us. We then had to stand pretty much next to the table whilst it was completely empty for the next 2 hours?! I don’t think he cares about his customers, only about money. Will not be going back again.

In my opinion my booked room as just a step above a Premier Inn and as certainly no more than average. Breakfast service was absolute chaos and so badly managed as to be both annoying and totally pathetic. The buffet managed at one point to run out of everything, hot food such as all variations of eggs (fried, scrambled boiled etc), bacon...non available unless you wanted to wait in a queue while it was cooking, hash browns.....same story. In all fairness, they did manage to find a few slightly warm sausages and a dish of soggy, slimy mushrooms and a dish of tinned tomatoes. At one point I counted at least 25 people waiting in line for more food to be brought out. The toaster.....just one!! attracted a queue of people trying to at least get toast made. The coffee machine were another story completely with lots of bad tempered guests waiting for ages before finally giving up and being told there was another machine in a lounge we could use. To sum up......Never again!!!!! a dreadful experience that was a waste of time and money. Roy Miller.

It has been a while since we visited The Halt, so we were looking forward to a visit. We were not disappointed. Service was good, from our waitress Erin who was most attentive. A little wait for the main course, but the food was very good. I had the sea bass and my wife choose from the specials, Lasagne which was excellent. Daughter in law Belly Pork.which she said was the best, my brother in law had the fish and chips. All first class. Thank you

Phoned ahead to make sure that the pub was wheelchair accessible, and could also accommodate a mobility scooter. Was assured on the phone that the pub was accessible with a ramp at the rear of the pub. On arrival we found that the accessible entrance wasn't as it first appeared. The ramp was fine, but the the actual entrance into the pub had what can only be described as a metal bar at the bottom of the doorframe in the entrance. This was to high for my electric wheelchair to safely drive over without causing damage to the chair. Equally the mobility scooter would have the same problem. The two members of staff that happened to be outside at the time were very blasé about the issue. Is the purple pound not good enough for this establishment? Such a shame, because it actually looked like a nice pub! Yet again, another business that has an archaic attitude towards disabled customers.

Wouldn’t go again .. first and last time today . Very disappointing food .. very very basic .. small portions , presentation poor .. I could produce better meals and I’m no chef . Dirty crockery piled high in sink , grubby kitchen . Children weren’t even offered a glass with their cans of drink . Not even a straw Observed lady in charge was microwave heating a pouch of rice then used fingers to decant ( no gloves in sight ) . Young employee also putting hands into a container of grated cheese straight after using till without washing hands or wearing gloves .. very disappointing
