Wow what can i say, this is the first time coming here as we were visiting my parents who have recently moved here so they treated us to a meal for my birthday. The food and service was by far a 10 out of 10. All freshly cooked food and decent portions for the price too. I had the Sticky Chicken for starters 🤤🤤and a Chicken, Ham and Leek Pie for main course which was well filled. I loved the deco and how comfortable the crushed velvet chairs were which made it even more comfy. The whole place was clean and inviting to everyone. All the staff we were in contact with with so bubbly and friendly, especially the owner? Who took our order and the lady who waited on us too. The only niggle for me was i was to hot but thats personal preference as im never cold and was sittinf by a radiator. Such a lovely pub its a shame its going to be closing ☹️

This is a leading fine dining experience. We’ve eaten at some lovely places but the food, service and ambience of this restaurant is beyond any we have experienced. I had the most tender devilled kidneys and the tenderest steak Rossini ever. The service was professional and faultless. Definitely recommend this establishment and we will be returning very soon.

We had such a lovely meal last night at the blue bell.. the staff are always so friendly and very polite. We were visiting my auntie who lives in Ranskill. And went for dinner. All our meals were fantastic, my husband and I had the surf and turf steaks. June has the salmon! Always delicious and such a great portion. Good selection of wine too. Far too full to have a dessert. We will definitely be back..

We popped in at very short notice on a Sunday, after coming from out of town to meet with family. Nicola and David were wonderful hosts, and made us feel very welcome - including our dog who was spoiled for attention. Our food was lovely, and the portions were if anything too generous, we left very full and happy! We would definitely visit again if we’re in the area and hope locals continue to give this rejuvenated place and the wonderful staff their custom.

Lovely food , good friendly helpful non pushy service. NB Atmosphere only got 3 stars as it was empty early in the evening, for no other reason . Normally (later) it's always at least ¾full. It's very popular. Good free outside parking in a well illuminated off road car park. All the classics of Indian cuisine with a few specialities at reasonable prices. Also will amend dishes to your requirements. - ie Saag aloo - not on the menu but will knock it up once requested. At standard side dish price. Good portions, with a decent amount of meat,(if meat is your thang). veg options are available as well. Onion Bhajis are lovely. Well cooked, tasty not greasy. Yash Mixed Starter is also a must try. Definitely recommended. Simple decor inside, but clean warm & well lit.

New 7 course tasting menu now available at at Restaurant 1650, part of the charming Ye Olde Bell Hotel & Spa in Retford. This 4 star hotel and it’s award winning restaurant, provides a smart and luxurious ambience for a memorable dining occasion. Perfect for a date night or special occasion amongst family & friends. It is just £65pp for this delicious, beautifully presented, fine-dining 7 course meal, or £100 with included wine pairings. Available every Thursday & Friday from 6:30pm – Booking is essential. The menu is set to change seasonally, however the menu that we tried is detailed below; *Canapes – Seared Foie Gras on toasted brioche with caramelised peach, Oyster with Guinness braised ox cheek & horseradish snow, Beef carpaccio with pickled strawberry * Beetroot & gin cured salmon gravlax, with textures of cucumber * Braised pork belly & cheek, textures of carrot, ginger & coriander * Champagne & elderflower sorbet * Roast duck breast confit leg croquettes, braised sweetheart cabbage and cherries * Trio of apple – Apple crumble tart, apple shot, apple & calvados crème brulee * Coffee/Tea & truffles Treating yourself to a dining experience like this will get you trying different tastes and textures that should introduce you to quality and locally-sourced ingredients. We thoroughly enjoyed the food here, trying oysters for the first time – we didn’t dislike them, but not sure they’re one of our favourite foods haha (no fault of the restaurant of course)! We also really liked the pork, duck and of course the desserts, especially the apple crumble tart. We have a lovely evening, meeting some other fellow food lovers, and would hope to return to this beautiful hotel to experience much more of what it has to offer. My only gripe was paying £12 for a large wine and £6 for a bottle of water.
