Date night. Food order taken before drinks. Pickle tray awful. Staff stare at you while you eat. Took 20 minutes to get the bill. Not returning.

We booked a table on Wednesday for the upcoming Saturday, when we arrived it was obvious they hadn’t written our booking down due to the staffs faces but they told us to take a seat and they would worry about it later. Staff lurking around our table but no offer to take a drinks order so we had to ask, we were then suddenly being rushed to make a food order. Staff were staring at us and hovering over us throughout our whole meal which made it very uncomfortable! Towards the end of our meal whilst we one of us was still eating they started clearing our plates! We were then passed the bill without even being offered hot drinks or desserts, we sent the bill back! We were approached by a rude member of staff who told us another party were waiting in the pub next door and had been for an hour, he told us that this was their busiest time of year and we had been too long! We had sat down at 7, it was now 9pm, never have I ever been rushed out of a restaurant like this before. No one had pre warned us when we booked or arrived that we only had our table for a limited time. We asked to take some eaten dishes home which were both thrown in one carton! The problem with Yash is the service, it has been an issue for a long time but never this bad! Beautiful food but terrible service. To say we paid almost £200 as well, absolutely disgusting!!!!

Special treat for my birthday with husband. Greeted warmly. Given choice of table despite busy Friday night. Food absolutely delicious. Nice wine. Very enjoyable experience. Will definitely visit again 😁

We have just visited Yash and would like to say what a wonderful meal we had The staff were friendly and very attentive The food was incredible and such great value The venue is very smart and in such a good location with plenty of parking A special mention to the manager who was extremely friendly and made for a fulfilling experience

Food is excellent, well cooked and tasty. Staff and owner are efficient, friendly and always happy and smiley. Can never do enough for you and will try to fit you in even without reservation. Restaurant also provides takeaway which is same quality. A fantastic Indian, would highly recommend.

Our Indian restaurant of choice, There is always a warm and friendly welcome that creates a good ambiance. The waiting staff are attentive without being over bearing, The food speaks for itself - excellent! Highly recommended.

We eat here regularly & Yash is the best Indian restaurant around & we have tried them all. The staff are lovely & we always get a warm welcome. If you ask them they will adapt the menu, spice up your curry or change meat for prawns or whatever you want. I love the fact that Yash is modern, doesn’t use old fashioned tablecloths & your food is served on pristine white crockery or in a heavy balti dish. Its a 21st century curry house. Bash & his staff are friendly, and will ask if you are ready for your next course - we’ve never felt rushed in this restaurant. The only downside to eating here is that when I leave I know I’ve got a full week to go before I’m going back! If you’ve never been - I fully recommend you give it a go, you won’t be disappointed.

We visited on 5th November with family. We were greeted warmly on arrival and seated promptly. It was our first visit to the restaurant as we were told the food was very good. The restaurant is very modern nothing authentically Indian at all. No music or ambiance. Salt and pepper on the table !! Not a table candle in sight. We were approached very quickly to order not even having time to scan the menu. We ordered drinks and asked the waitress for some advise regarding a meal off the menu. She had absolutely no idea. The food came pretty quick. It was tasty and presented again too modern. No Indian dishes or bowls at all which was disappointing. The waiters and waitresses hovered over the tables. It did not give the impression of anything more than hurry up finish your meal and go. We felt under pressure which was rubbish. There was no desserts on the menu or coffees, We asked for the bill and was presented with little chocolate orange thins which were nice, No hot flannels to clean your hands. We spent over £120 and felt hurried …. Not great. Would we return ? Absolutely not I’m afraid.

Food is very good here, no issues with this at all. Ordered a collection order, advised 45 mins, turned up around 40 mins after order was still sitting waiting for an hour with drunken people shouting in a crowded reception.

We went here on a Tuesday evening with partner and young toddler, was all going ok my partner asked for a kingfisher, didn’t have any… another couple sat next to us and all of a sudden had kingfisher for them. Asked for some onion salad with our main we was told no due to them being too busy. Food was ok but will not return due to how we was spoken to.

Used their takeaway service. Order came to over £30. Arrived in approximately 35 minutes. Whilst waiting, I received a phone call from the driver saying he couldn't find our address. My wife explained to him how to get to us; he finally turned up, moaning saying its like a rabbit Warren, despite the fact we live just off a main road (he was totally ignorant). Then he made a song and dance that we haddent got the exact money. On opening the bag, it was a complete mess, food swimming in the bottom of the bag, containers on the side or upside down (as if the bag had been thrown into the car) on top of that the food was stone cold. My wife rang the restaurant to complain, but they didn't want to know and slammed the phone down. It was a totally disgusting experience. I would never use them again. They all need training in customer service and relations.

We have never visited the restaurant, but the takeaway is always excellent. Always fresh and tasty and plenty of food. The delivery driver is polite and friendly. We placed an order on New Years Eve, was told it could be an hour and 30 minutes wait which was fine as we thought they would be busy, but it arrived 45 minutes later. It was not the driver who normally delivers our food, but he had told the driver to wish us a Happy New Year, which was lovely. Thanks so much to all the staff at Yash for the wonderful food, and for being so accommodating and to our driver and we wish you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR

Yesterday was my first meal (takeaway) from there. Really excellent, best Indian we have had since we moved into the area. Looking forward to the next!

Our delivered takeaway last night was on time, hot, fresh and tasty and overall we all enjoyed the tandoori prawn and chicken pakora starters, tandoori chicken and chicken tikka masala. Highly recommend and will be our future go to.

Well with resturants being able to reopen thought it was time for a sit in curry. Sanitiser availible in reception ,taken to table good social distancing in place.Waiters in face coverings and keeping 1 mtr in place.Once ordered food came within a rasonable time considering...

This was worse than supermarket quality. Pilau rice is a joke. No spices evident, just plain bland rice. Sauce could have come from a tin, cubes of meat with no texture and no taste. NO COOKING SKILLS REQUIRED!!!We moved here from Leeds. They wouldnt last a week up there.

We visited on a very busy Saturday night. Service was excellent as was the food. The menu has all the usual dishes you'd expect to find plus many more which are a little bit out of the norm. We'll be going back soon. The takeaway trade was also very busy which is also a sign of a good restaurant.

Tried here on the recommendation of a friend and we weren't disappointed. Could easily miss it tucked away behind a pub. Great food and great service. Nice to see some dishes that aren't on offer in every Indian restaurant. Will be back for sure.

A lovely meal catching up with friends so the focus was on that rather than the meal. The place was humming, service was good despite that and the food was delicious - we had not had an Indian meal since December 2018, so we loved it, although one member of our party was not very satisfied as a previous customer mentioned - where were the king prawns?? More like shrimps!

A very busy Friday night, but an excellent meal despite one member of our party of 6 a little disappointed that his king prawn biryani did not have many king prawns in it. We loved it!

Excellent cuisine, lovely staff, go there often never disapointed. Consistency is what we all appreciate and here it's always good food. Puppadums are very good. Always a good sign.

Had a couple of take-aways from here in the past, the food has always been hot, tasty and full of flavour.

Visited Yash with small group of friends (6) on Thursday evening restaurant was half full.

My girlfriend and I was collecting a order takeaway , door to kitchen was being held open and a waiter was picking food from a plate and eating it then took it into restaurant disgusting , Another customer told this to one of the waiters and was laughing about member of staff swatting flys with t towel letting them drop on floor without cleaning them up then drying glasses with same towel !very dirty establishment my girlfriend visited the toilets and in filthy condition avoid needs closing down ,, takeaway was put in bin .

We were only staying in Barnby Moor for two nights taking a break from a caravan tour .Situated behind the White Horse pub, we decided to try it. There were more than enough staff and didn't have to wait to be served. The food was the best I've had for quite some time.

My Dad's Birrhday so booked a table for six people at 7pm. All was good initially Drinks and Poppodams and Starters arrived as expected but then the evening went down hill rapidly. We waited until 9 35 for the main courses even though we asked several times. When the food arrived it was below standard and not at all enjoyable. We will not be returning.

Turned up without a reservation and the staff worked hard to find us a table. It was worth the short wait as the food was ace. The best Indian meal we have had in a long while. The Tandoori was succulent and a king prawn Bashadi dish was really subtle. Throughout the staff were really attentive and engaging. A hidden gem.

The takeaway was one of the worst we have ever tried. Poor taste, runny, weak sauce and not much chicken. It really was that bad and to make it worse they forgot to include two portions of rice with our takeaway meal. It really is annoying when they have the cheek to charge top price too...just for a takeaway. To be honest we've had better curry out of a tin. Very disappointed and never again...even if it was free!

We booked for meal out on valentine's night, not wanting anywhere with a set menu. After booking, I read the reviews on here and became concerned. However, I had no need to be. The atmosphere, service and food were all great and we will definitely be back. The choice of vegetarian options was fantastic, as you can order any traditional dish with vegetables instead of meat. Great idea and I wish more places did this. The food tasted fresh and flavourful and the portion sizes were perfect for us. When we paid our bill we given a fresh red rose and a box of maltesers, which was a lovely touch to end our night. Great night.

After a restaurant has gone through the first difficult setting- up time, and then becomes established with a good reputation, there is a danger that it can become complacent.

Ate here recently with friends. Attentive staff, good quality food, good portion size. Plenty of choice, good value for money. Only negative was the lack of choice of cider, only had French cider.

Heard so many glowing reviews about this place, decided to try it ourselves. What a disappointment. We were one of three parties in the restaurant & it was clear the customers at the other two tables were regulars from the fuss made of them. We were largely ignored. At one point the other two couples had a loud conversation across the restaurant, making it difficult for us to talk to each other.

Not sure if Yash has changed hands, but it has changed considerably, if subtlety. The food wasn't as nice: luke warm, sauces for different dishes too similar; but onion bajis and naam bread were nice. It was the main meals that were lacking. The staff weren't as competent, nice but it affected the atmosphere (outfits/uniforms have changed also). For a Friday night it was 'dead'; there were only three couples eating. Yash has for years been my go to Indian restaurant; but I doubt I'll go back for a long while.

First time we’ve tried this Indian and will be the last unfortunately. Naan bread tasted like it had been kept warm for ages, very chewy and one corner was burnt to a crisp. Both curries we’d ordered were bland and tasteless, if you closed your eyes you wouldn’t have been able to taste the difference between a Bhuna and a Korma. Very disappointed

The first time we ate here in 2017 the food was really good. We are not vegetarians but opted to eat veggie. It was very good albeit a tad overpriced.

We come here as a couple or with friends a few times a year and it always does the business - excellent food - good service - not cheap - but a superb menu and well prepared. Ideal for couples or a party. Usually space for 2 - 4 but if you are a larger group then definitely book.

Reserved table for 7.30pm myself and my other half plus a child, arrived slightly ahead of time, front of house and welcome were and was dreadful, it was only beaten by the continued table service, rude, arrogance beyond beleif, no interaction or any signs of hospitality, young girl waitress spent her time working one table at the conservatory end seemingly knowing the people on the table personally, chattering away all through our meal, when I at one point got her attention to order drinks she was seemingly surprised tgat it asked her, almost bloody trembled ! Shockingly poor service.

Me and my partner visited on Friday the 3rd of August. We went as Yash had been recommended by friends. To start with we had Bhajis and poppadoms with a pickle tray. The Bhajis lacked basic seasoning and the Poppadoms were cold, limp and had been clearly cooked well in advance. Our usual Indian Restaurant in Lincoln Castle view do these warm and to order when we visit. My partner had the Tandoori King prawn Masala which was excellent. I ordered the Yash mixed grill. Much to my disappointment the lamb was tough and inedible. I showed the waiter that i couldnt cut it with my knife. He asked me if i wanted Chicken to replace it? I said no i would like lamb. This had sadly been overcooked and sat in the clay oven for too long. The waiter returned 5 minutes later with Chicken and not lamb to replace what was inedible. So in the end i think this was a polite way of saying this is how we cook it here. Or the best that we can do. To be fair to Yash they may do some fabulous dishes that i have not had the opportunity to try. However i can only comment on my personal experience. Mr Hunter.

On a whim decided we fancied a curry. Haven’t been for a while and we were pleased to be reminded of the excellent service and attention to detail. Fabulous food served in suficient quantity and authentic tasting.

We have been at Yash few times now, and every time food is fresh and delicious. Service is quick, people who work there very friendly.

I am usually Yash’s biggest fan and we’ve been going there (our favourite Indian) for the last five years but I can honestly say I was utterly disappointed on our latest visit. The food was average, both of our curries tasted exactly the same but one was slightly more spicy and my order was wrong. I’d asked for a lamb curry, not chicken, and it said lamb on the receipt but that is not what I was given. I know 100% that yash would’ve sorted this error had been brought it to their attention, but I’d sooner not wait for another to be cooked whilst watching my partner eat his dinner and our shared rice and naan go cold. The point is that the error was made and then to top it off the bill stated that we’d had double the amount of drinks that we’d actually had. Luckily we spotted this, but how many people wouldn’t have looked carefully at their bill? So dissapointed

Hidden slightly off the road in Barnby Moor near Retford is the Yash Indian restaurant. We have been twice now and both the service and food was excellent. Food was hot (As in temp) and just the right portion sizes. Not oversize as you sometimes find. Plenty of variety for everyone.

Went for anniversary had well cooked tasty meal. Having worked in India and Pakistan l was able to judge the authentic taste and was not disappointed.l will return on next special date for sure. Was not cheap but you get what you pay for.

The food in this restaurant is brilliant, portions are reasonably sized the price also follows this trend being reasonably priced as well. The service is brilliant and wait times for food is short. Overrall pleasant experience I would recommend.

This place is well worth a visit, whether for take-away or to sit in. The food is very tasty and well presented, not over-priced and without the unpleasant "after-effects" that you get from some Indian cuisine. Staff are friendly and helpful without being pushy.

This Asian food is skilfully prepared and served with care by polite and thoughtful staff. We always feel welcome and enjoy our meals here.

Lovely little place behind the back of a traditional British pub. The menu is eclectic with a range of traditional dishes along with the usual balti's etc. Very attentive service and great prices will be going back again and again.

This is a great restaurant. The service is always good and the flavours of the curries are delicious!

We have been regularly going here for takeouts for around a year now, and the food is always excellent. Some speciality of the house dishes and the more traditional Indian/Bangladeshi food like Madras/Korma/Balti available too. Very friendly people running the place and serving. Definitely recommended. Only negative is the delivery service, which, to Retford at least, was a little slow and late on our one experience.

We had friends over for dinner. We ordered a few options. Including the lamb Balti and chicken Rezzella. The meals were gorgeous and fresh. All of us really enjoyed it.

We got early into Yash in Barmby Moor. ((01777) 949013. You have to these days-even on a very cold Tuesday evening. When we came out the car park was full.

You are always guaranteed an exceptional meal here. Great, friendly service. A fantastic range of cuisine to suit all tastes. Highly recommend.

I've had two takeaways now from Yash,and they have both been below par.

We visited Yash on the weekend having seen good reviews online. The meal was fine but we found our meals lacking in flavour/spice and far too mild. Perhaps this is just a reflection of what customers in the area prefer but as customers who love spicy food we were a little disappointed. The only issue was that colouring was used in my tandoor chicken tikka which came out a bright red colour. For something that was supposed to have come from a tandoori oven it seemed more like the chicken had been steamed and then just brushed with some coating. Can’t fault the tenderness of the chicken but it lacked authenticity as a tandoori meal. Side dishes and naan were well cooked and wine was good. Atmosphere was pleasant.

Always great food, usually share a fish and a prawn dish. From my point of view, the best in the Retford area. Staff are friendly and welcoming - you should try it.

Called in here early one Friday evening for our dinner before attending an evening wedding reception nearby. Pleasant decor and restaurant . A little lacking in atmosphere and a bit cold. This did get better as the heating kicked in and more tables were taken. Very attentive staff. Tasty food.

Regularly come here and usually enjoy it but,there seems to be a change of staff the new manager not very friendly and overcharged for a dish that had a slightly different sauce,having had the same thing previously and not being charged extra for this! I was not happy.Also was charged £3 for a coke,the prices seem to be rising and charging extra for things that cost no extra previously makes me think about coming here again,a shame as was previously a good meal with a friendly host.
