The food was incredible everything tasted fresh and the bhaji’s were insanely delicious

An excellent Indian restaurant. The menu has a number of unusual dishes on it. The ones my wife and I chose were excellent. A bit weird to serves chapatti In a plastic bag though. It made the chapatti sweat a bit.

Dinner for two whilst staying at Dukeries Retreat a short walk away. Really great food, the prawn puree, 2 curries and mushroom rice were absolutely lovely and the peshwari naan was the best I've had in a long time! The service was excellent, the young lad that served us couldn't have been more helpful even when we asked to move table due to the loudness of a diner behind us doing our head in! Really friendly and great value. Would definately recommend!

Really enjoyed my first visit to Yash. It was a little hectic (they were a man down!). It was a relaxed atmosphere, never felt rushed or under pressure to decide what we wanted or clear off when we'd finished eating. After we ordered the food came out pretty quick. Four people all ordering different meals. When the food did arrive, boy were we treated to a tasty feast. The rice was great the nan breads excellent and the mains were super. Very flavoursome and plenty of it. Will definitely be going back.

Great authentic Sri Lankan curry.

Food was OK nothing impressive to say its on the pricy side. Onion bhaji nice, poppadoms stale. Only 2 items on pickel tray. Given a plain naan instead of garlic.

We had a yummy takeaway and was made to feel very welcome with kind greetings. Thank you very much

Lovely meal last night. Staff were just the right amount of attentive and friendly. The owner spoke to everyone and clearly takes pride in his restaurant. Would recommend.

Good food, but had to wait for nearly an hour for because he forgot to put through the order.

We have been to yash 3 times , the first time three years ago or so was really great and we raved about it . The second time it was appalling took 2 hours to get our food . Got the order wrong and billed us completely wrong and then tried to say it was our fault ! I put it down to them being extremely busy and having a bad day . Though that was 18 months ago and we personally wouldn’t go back . But my mother in law got some vouchers so we went on Saturday night . Absolutely atrocious . We rang at 1pm in the afternoon and they confirmed a table of four for 6:15 that same day . Took our name etc. we arrived bang on time . To be asked repeatedly , did we book ? What time ? Our name ? What time did we call ? Did we actually speak to someone and did we really call ! Then a lady who is supposedly a regular rudely butted in and spoke to the owner . So she took priority over us . We didn’t complain as didn’t want to disappoint my elderly in-laws . Eventually sat us down . We asked for poppadoms but could we order mains once the poppadoms arrived . Another gentleman said no very abruptly we are too busy order now . Again we didn’t say anything but we were taken aback but remained calm and polite unlike the gentleman . The food took nearly an hour to arrive and then as we were eating , the same gentleman lent across my elderly father in law across his face and chest whilst he was eating his food and proceeded to remove his cutlery , of which he was actually using and did the same to my mother in law. I was so amazed by this rude and disrespectful behaviour . He tried to remove my husbands to which my husband said “ no. Please leave my cutlery alone” . The gentleman bent right down beside my husband and kept trying to take away other things whilst he was eating . When my husband politely said no again . He then stood and proceeded to stare at us until we had finished our meals . He never once asked , are you finished using this cutlery or can I clear it away for you . It was just rude . They then forgot my husbands drink but by that time we had just given up . Our evening was spoilt by one rude gentleman and not even being acknowledged when we had actually booked . Really disappointed especially when I justified the 2nd visit poor service after such a first great meal . Get rid of your rude staff . Double check your bookings . Don’t prioritise regulars when you are talking to other people . Never again !

The waiters are lovely and friendly the food is just delicious and the courses are the perfect amount highly recommend and the service is very fast about a seven minute wait.

Collected my food drove 5 minuets home served up luke warm food rang to complain got told its because its colder outside wouldn't offer to replace food or discount next time won't be ordering from here again

Sat in for a birthday meal. The food was excellent, full of flavour and left us stuffed. I've eaten a lot of Indian food and this really was very good. Recommended!

Went there for dinner at 7:30 on a Saturday night and it was full so would highly recommend booking. We had the onion badji, pickle tray, poppadoms, chicken balti and the chicken Yash special. Food was great and would highly recommend it if you are looking for a good Indian curry. The only downfall was the service, it was busy but that isn't an excuse for the lack of service and "professionalism". We had to order drinks twice (glass of wine and a cider), after 20 mins they said they didn't have cider so I changed to a coke. Took another 10 mins for the 2 drinks to come out. Throughout the meal the staff would be chatting and laughing amongst themselves within the dining area, sometimes having a glass of soft drink into hands and at times eating a mouthful of food. So the level of attentiveness from the staff was lacking as I felt like I was interrupting their night out. Come for the food but don't have any expectations on the service and you won't be disappointed.

Amazing food every time I have gone. The staff are friendly and helpful, especially accommodating a wheelchair. About the only criticism is that it can get crazy busy - they have one person whose job it is to take orders for collection for an hour or more on Saturday night - and sometimes getting the cheque at the end can be slow. On that note, to speed things up when they bring your bill (and chocolates) pay at the till in the way out.

Where's my order? Rang at 18:30, 2:45 hours later, nothing. Rang twice, apparently it's out for delivery. But not possible to contact the driver. What's going on? Usually excellent, but it seems like when they are busy they can't cope, and won't even acknowledge that they won't be able to deliver. Great food normally, very poor service for takeaway.

Bit disappointed as they couldn't do anything for my daughters 40th, a dessert with a candle would've been great. 2 young waitresses literally standing about talking had to ask them to clear table and then they were stood eating cake. Not a professional look at at all. Shame as food was lovely.

This place is a absolute hidden gem. The service started out a little slow but once we started each course came swiftly after each other. Firstly, if there is anything not on the menu that’s Indian related you can ask for it and they’ll still prepare it. Literally everything was packed full of flavour, the chicken was perfectly cooked and juicy. Absolutely incredible, thank you so much for such an amazing meal! If you’re in the area make sure you visit.

I have take away meals before and have always had good service, but when I asked for a take away this time found the prices had jumped up significantly. But got the person who answered the phone to tell me the price and decided this once to carry on with the order, however when it arrived there was a extra £5 cost on top which did point out was not what I was told. Was in two minds but starving so carried on. Found out later we had been overcharged and they corrected very quickly sorted it out and refunded.

Cosy atmosphere, wide variety of menu choices, and reasonably priced food. I would recommend Yash to anyone looking for dinner in the area, particularly after a day out at Clumber Park. The restaurant is quite small, so I would recommend calling ahead!

First time going and won't be the last. Arrived just after 6 as we were told it gets busy later on which it did. Food was lovely and we had no issues ordering items not shown on the menu such as a chicken madras. Staff were very friendly. Looking forward to going again.

Awesome curry. I always used to go to another Curry House a little further along the same road away from Retford, but I have now officially defected! The take away is good, but the food in the restaurant is even better. No hesitation whatsoever in recommending it to anyone who likes this sort of food. Some of the dishes are regional specialties and are a little bit different. The staples are as good as anywhere. A+++

You will NOT eat better Indian food in Retford. Guaranteed.

Incredibly overpriced for below average food, we got a takeaway, lamb tikka, lamb chops and egg rice, the lamb on both dishes was completely dry! Incredibly tough and bland! The rice tasted cheap and undercooked. Maybe we came on an off day as the other reviews are pretty good! But our experience was terrible! We definitely won’t be returning.

Nice little curry house. Food is good and friendly staff. You should ask if you know of any Indian dish which is not on menu. We asked for Saag Chicken that was not on menu and they prepared it for us. Car park is available.

Fantastic. I travel all over the country for work and eat on my own (sad). This goes straight into my top5 and I eat a lot of curry in a lot of different towns. Great food and service
