This takeaway when they just opened was excellent. As the years have gone on the food has deteriorated and the prices have increased.

Only use takeaway. Consistent good quality. Can recommend .

Ordered the fish special which on menu board included chips regular fish choice of side and a can received order minus the can of pop asked the person serving to be told its a £1 extra yet menu states with false advertising the menu bo received food and asked where the drink was not very professional trying to be sarcastic about shark being a fish

Large Haddock (and it was large) standard chips and large Mushy peas, completely ruined by both the appearance and taste of the Mushy peas, been eating them for years but never had them taste like this before had to scrape the lot off plate when i got home. 1 star for Mushy Peas only

Bought 5 mini fish special and 2 extra mini fish, it was very poor dry tasting fish which I can only assume had been cooked and left in the warmer tray…. Didn’t eat most of it as was not the usual flaky white cod… very disappointed

The new person who was serving in restaurant, I get it's probably your first day but had absolutely no manners whatsoever. Seemed so uncomfortable with everything - pretty much slammed the drinks down on table, couldn't be bothered to take the menus, had to pretty much do there job when the food arrived, never seen anyone so uncomfortable like this, all basic skills and yet felt like this person was dragged off the streets to do the role...very poorly. Food was average and tasted very dry, gravey took 5 minutes longer than everything else to arrive. Can of coke almost £2.. Disappointing and wasn't surprised the restaurant was empty.

Brilliant fish and chips and a very tidy restaurant. There is a good choice on the menu as well.

We call for fish and chips to takeout from here two or three times a month. Always been nice but we called in today and the chips were terrible. Full of eyes and bruises. Very dry sharp and like eating pork scratching. Luckily the haddock was nice but threw all the chips in the bin. Loss of a customer

Probably the best fish and chips in the town. Fish is usually cooked to order at off-peak times, so patience is a virtue, but well worth the wait. A good choice of menu, eco-friendly packaging etc all adds to the experience. Prices are creeping up though, admittedly a common problem with fish prices as they are, so fish and chips is becoming a luxury item. Highly recommended.

I've always shouted from the roof tops that papas is the best chippy in Worksop. Can't say I would anymore. Had an over £8 cod today, really looking forward to it as was starving. Honestly as soon as I picked the box up I wondered if there was anything in it. Nearly floated out of my hands. On opening it I was properly shocked, it was like a long fish finger, calling it regular would have been pushing it, I was totally gutted as I do like a good fish & chips. The chips weren't bad and got plenty of them, the staff seemed pleasant enough and online ordering great, but the star of the show the Large cod was such a disappointment, the fryer must have known that it was never a large. Obviously by the time you get home and unveil it, it's a bit too late to go back and complain. You just expect a large over £8 cod to be large, (I don't mean gigantic either) or is it just me. Gutted, now got to try and find a half decent chippy in Worksop after years going Papas. Not gonna be easy.

This was my first and last visit to Papas fish and chip takeaway in Worksop. I went with high expectations having read positive feedbacks. I am a gluten free customer. When I opened my fish and chips at home, the fish looked delicious but the chips were overcooked and dry. When I tasted my fish I found it difficult to get through the batter which appeared dry and rubbery in texture, the only conclusion I can draw is that my gluten free fish and chips had been reheated and therefore overcooked. To add insult to injury it was also about two pounds dearer than that of Whitby fish and chips, Sheffield, which I’ve never had an occasion to complain.

Always have the plaice and chips, delicious. Chips are crispy and not greasy, batter on the fish is excellent. Waitress was lovely and welcoming. Don't come here often as not local to me but it is such a treat when I do. Parents had OAP option with haddock, they always love the food here.

Absolutely dreadful, just trying to eat Haddock and little tiny horrid hard bits sold as chips. Not a chip over 1/2 inch long in sight. Nearest place for decent Fish & Chips is Doncaster.

Ordered fish & chips 1/11/2023, £11.90 but large fish and chip’s should be large! It was more the size of a small eel, and the chips were mainly scabby hard ones obviously been in for ages. 4 women serving but too busy chatting to hear fryer shouting that the fish was ready. Daughter bought fish cake, chips and curry sauce for £4.95, but received that as well as a fish which was size of ours. Won’t be going back, only went there because it was round corner from where I live.

Fish beautiful batter spot on but chips a right let down,very dry and too many small end pieces even drier,very disappointed.

I'm from Yorkshire so this takes some saying these fish n chip take some beating even in Yorkshire 5 or 6 years since i last visited here was delivering to the business park just up the road I'll be back SOON

This place used to be busy all the time went today only because Jimmys was shut and it was empty after the service and the food I can see why overpriced they sell “baby” fish but then try to sell you a “giant” fish finger. Can’t see it being open much longer

Chips are rubbish fish was OK. And the waiting system is pathetic how hard is it to have chips ready instead of waiting with 8 other people. If it was busy I would understand it.

Had a really great experience, came in was greeted with an extremely friendly and welcoming atmosphere, the fish and chips were perfect and I’m usually very picky, the fish was flaky and the batter was crisp. The chips were great and portions were good size overall a great experience. Proper good scran. Great value

As a regular customer of Papas, but only just getting round to writing a review, I wanted to say this is without doubt the best Fish and Chip restaurant for miles around. The service is always friendly and efficient and the food is amazing, great quality, cooked to perfection and good value. Thank you! PS never said it at the time but the delivery service, particularly during COVID, was a life saver!

Worst fish & chips iv ever had. 3 baby fish inedible, think they must of been yesterdays fish, they was that rubbery couldnt even chew them.

Brought fish n chips, peas and pie n chips. Got it home no chips with pie, no peas, pie was burnt, fish and chips were so dry , cooked hours ago by the look of it, inedible and tasteless. Had a handful of chips, fish was rock hard. Terrible quality, very dissatisfied.

Had kebab and chips. Wasn't bad. Had better.

Lovely fish and chips, freshly fried, large portions, great mushy peas. It was a bit noisy but the food was great.

Not the cheapest but really good food

We called in for lunch today. Cod and chips for both of us with tea. Food was excellent, well cooked and piping hot. We were looked after by Madison who was very pleasant and when she wasn't serving she was cleaning. Good experience at a good price.

Quality of the food has gone down it was a poor standard

Excellent front of house staff, good portion sizes (compared to our usual fish and chip shop). Cod was lovely and flaky with a crisp batter, chips where cooked almost perfectly, mushy peas a bit on the dry side but still not bad at all. Expect a wait especially on a Friday evening, might be worth ordering ahead.

Not good. Went today to eat in for lunch, haven't been for a while. It wasn't busy at all in the dining area, but small fish & chips and scampi took about 35mins to arrive. Fish was all batter hardly any fish, chips appeared over done and dry, scampi bread crumb was a little soggy like it had been sat keeping warm. Waitress did apologies for the delay in food coming out to us and was friendly, but won't be going back here again. We wasn't the only table experiencing delays, another table also had to ask how much longer their was hoping to be also.

Sat inside for lunch, had the seafood platter. Large portion almost defeated me, lovely meal.

Ordered online and collected myself. Food order ready and waiting when I arrived so no hanging around. Food good and reasonably priced Paid by card online so no cash needed. Staff nice and friendly. 5 stars all round.

A fantastic artist piece ruined by the expectations of food. I was expecting a delicious meal for three and what I got was an artists impressions of utter despair and sadness. The fish was supposed to be a large at yet let a sad but true story was a disappointment at less than 6 inches. The pie was cremated to the point the sauce had solidified into a until now unknown distasteful goo. The chips, regardless of the lack of quality came with stories from the old west, they were that old and far away from what chips actually should be it inspired me to write this review. By the end I was looking for an sos message "send help" from the staff hidden in the bag. Overall they combined together to simply make me thing what we're they thinking . Which was when I came to the conclusion papa's isn't a food outlet. Its a artist gallery.

Used to be the best chippy in Worksop. Very disappointed earlier ordered a large cod chips and small curry sauce.£11. They stuck two nasty thin grey pieces of fish together and passed it off as large cod. If you going to overcharge at least give value. Never again

Food was excellent. The décor was nothing like the one in Cleethorpes or Skegness.

12 of us came here last week Sat 20 aug. Friendly , helpful, staff. Great food . I had Plaice and chips it was awesome .Also never seen such fantastic Onion Rings. Well Done Guys !

For the last 2 years this has been my go to Fish 'n' Chip shop - great food and good service. However tonight was really disappointing, decided late to have fish and chips and didn't arrive till 7:35, didn't shut till 8 so should be ok. Staff knew we were waiting to order. At 7:50 they then say to the man in front of me, who had been there longer, sorry fryers off were closing in 10. If this is the case that after 7:30 you won't take orders tell us when we get there don't wait till we get to the counter.

Fantastic chippy! Have been numberous times, both take-away and eating in the restaurant. Staff are always super friendly and polite. They have a good menu selection and the food is great. The haddock on my most recent visit was lovely!

Nick and his team hosted us for a private event on a Thursday Evening and can't recommend them enough. Superb food, cooked efficiently and accommodating lots of hungry runners making sure we had everything we needed! Huge thanks and hope to be back soon!

Disgusting chips. Re fried. Hard. Black bits on potatoes. Seen better pig tattys. I'm done with chippys now. £5.40 for large chips n curry. Rip off joke.

Nice fish n chips great staff reasonable prices

Have always used Papas but will try others in future. Always have large haddock but tonight got two that were more like regular size and poor quality fish and for this the charge was £7.95 per fish. I know food prices have gone up, but £16 for 2 fish of extremely poor quality...no way.

Great service, nice staff, lovely food

Staff are first rate, they really can't do enough to help you.. my one and only gripe, is that the hand dryers are on the wall in-between the sinks, my 6 year old is tall for her age and she couldn't reach, this needs some adjustment as children are unable to dry their hands other than that it was a fabulous meal 🍽️
