Once again, excellent. Mr & Mrs and staff, always friendly & helpful. Food perfect whether it's starter, main, desert. Good selection of drinks. Food cooked to perfection You need to book and if they can, they'll fit you in, and try their best to meet your needs.

Superb! We had a special celebration here with the Wedding of my Son and his lovely bride. May I say, the venue is lovely, extremely presentable and the precision of efficiency in the flow of activities through the days events was seamless and flawless. May I compliment the staff very much in helping to make this day such a special one as each and every one of them were professional, efficient and couldn't do enough to help!

I ate at the inn on Monday and the food is absoloutly fantastic. I went for the 16 hour slow cooked Ox cheek and was not disappointed. The menu covers from traditional pub grub to dishes like the OX cheek. Coupled with a couple of pints of really good ales. Staff and customers really friendly. The icing on the cake was 2 log fires which was very much appreciated. A very traditional cottage pub that is well worth a visit. I will be back when in the UK. Keep up the amazing work guys đ

Nice place to sit, people watch and have a meal. Waitresses were very pleasant but I'm guessing understaffed as it was a busy, sunny Friday evening, and there was only two of them and they were running around like blue arsed flies. Food arrived promptly was hot and tasty so the forgetting of a drink and bottle of water is forgiven. Been before and will happily go again. Visit for Sunday lunch, February 2025. Busy, greeted by friendly waitress and seated. Drinks delivered (Wainwright bitter in great nick). 2 x roast beef lunches. Beef was generous, not overcooked and very tender. All up a great experience. Staff all know what they doing and are friendly. Definitely will be returning.

An early evening booking on a Winterâs Saturday night. A lovely, warm welcome with a gorgeous log fire blazing. Comfortable seating areas and a simple pub menu, with something for everyone. The Hanging Gate is simply âgood value for moneyâ. Nothing fancy, just GREAT service, a warm atmosphere and well cooked âpub foodâ. Couldnât fault anything đ

We booked here for a party of 20 for Sunday lunch. It was absolutely fantastic. The Sunday roasts were enormous and delicious, best roast potatoes and huge portions of fresh veg and cauliflower cheese. It all came together which was amazing for such a big group. The puddings were gorgeous and the whole experience was five star. The staff really made an impression on us and that contributed to the really great afternoon. Well done!

I live fairly locally and we often call in for a pint when out on the mountain bikes - always a decent pint. I'd heard good things about the food, so I booked a table on Saturday evening for me and my wife. Upon arrival, I ordered a pint of Hazy Jane, and the barman served this in a Madri glass! I'm no snob, but you don't serve IPA in a lager glass!! I informed the lad that we had a table booked. He told us the table was in the tap room (we were not taken to the table, even though 2 waitresses were standing at the bar next to us. The tap room was busy, with people and dogs, not a problem as we are dog owners, but it would have been nice to be asked if we wanted to sit in there or in the restaurant. I would have thought I'd have been asked when booking 2 weeks ago, but hay-ho. After 10 mins, we had to get the attention of a waitress to ask for menu's (probably because we hadn't been seated?). The waitress then informed us that they didn't have the following: No Lasagne (but we have vegi). No pie's. No Sausages. No Fish. No pizza. No gammon. This reduced the options to either vegetarian dishes, chicken, or rump steak. It's a Saturday at 6:30pm - how can you run out of so many options / not manage to serve covers that have booked? We weren't the only one's sitting around this time, so they knew how many covers they had booked for the evening. There was nothing we wanted on the menu, so we decided to leave and go elsewhere. We are not fussy people, we really aren't. But this was so disappointing, and the service was also below expectations. I mean IPA in a lager glass!!! Not shown to the table!! This is basic, very basic, customer service. It's a shame, because we were looking forward to it. I'll still call in for a pint, and it's a lovely pub, but I won't book to eat there again, nor recommend to anyone else unfortunately. :-(
