The best restaurants serving African food in London

Excellent food, Hatem the chef is very friendly and goes out of his way to make us feel welcome. He is passionate about his place of origin and it shows in his culinary skills.

Visited at lunchtime for the set menu with wine. This had been on my list for a while to visit and so here is some pros and improvements from my experience: Pros: - Restaurant was clean and inviting and the table well laid out - Food was excellent and the dishes which came out were very tasty Improvements: - The service was slower than expected on the day unfortunately. - The server spoke so quietly when explaining the wine I couldn’t hear them and had to keep asking them to speak up. Voice projection in customer service is so important I feel. - Team members wearing jeans and dirty trainers. Just a personal preference but with fine dining I think smart is preferable. We paid the 17.5% service which equated to over £80. Was the service exceptional to warrant this? No it wasn’t and if I visit again and nothing has changed I wouldn’t pay it.

Es la primera vez que pruebo comida etíope y no decepcionó. Ambiente encantador, la comida era increíble y el servicio de los propietarios era brillante. Teníamos el plato de compartir para dos y la cantidad de comida era genial. Bien vale la pena el viaje desde Kent! Recomiendo encarecidamente a cualquiera que quiera probar la comida tradicional etíope.

Muy recomendable. La comida era deliciosa (fuimos a la sucursal de la calle Hanbury) , y las porciones eran enormes - tuvimos las albóndigas seguido de un plato grande con injera, y era más que suficiente para nosotros dos. Y la hospitalidad era de primera - el propietario nos recibió, explicó la comida, y en general nos trató como viejos amigos.

Todo fue excelente, una de las mejores comidas que he tenido en mi vida. Todo fue perfecto, desde la comida hasta el servicio. Muy recomendable para todos los amantes de la comida.

The food was amazing. The service was impeccable. Definitely would recommend them. I had the small trays of Ayamashe, jollof rice, garnished chicken and fried rice (the prawns size - amazing).

Starter - Butternut and ginger with coconut cream soup with side order of coco bread 10/10 delicious 😋 I would have had a second bowl if I could have managed it. Main - Monkfish tail in shellfish sauce with buttery mash, Ma's Benachin Gambian national rice and grilled stem broccoli outstanding.  Gambian rice highly seasoned and not what I was expecting. Still tasty.  Loved it. Dessert - Winter fruit crumble tart with Madagascar vanilla gelato! Struggled to finish but wasn't going to leave a scrap! This was a dining experience to remember. I ticked this off my list of fine dining!  Surpassed all my expectations! Myrtle the manager at Papa L's Kitchen was welcoming, friendly and made my experience enjoyable.  The service was good.  Meecha my server was very attentive. Overall I would highly recommend dining at Papa L's Kitchen.  I will be back.

Waren spät unterwegs und suchten noch was für den Abend. Würden mega überrascht sehr freundlich und bemüht.... Jeder Zeit wieder.

Gran comida vegana simple a un gran precio. Tenía el plato de 2 personas con una selección de platos. Mi hija no es vegana y también disfruta. ¡Todo sabía fabuloso! Chef era muy acogedor. Es un mercado así que prepárate para 2 bancos básicos.

Arrived quite late at a nearby hotel and chose this place for a late evening meal. Very warm and welcoming from the moment we stepped through the door, very helpful advising on the menu and the food was amazing. Really glad we called in and can highly recommend.

Excelente café, a muy buen precio, preparado con mucho cariño. Hay un café diferente cada día cada semana, y todo es de origen único y Comercio Justo. Leche de avena, almendra y soja disponible. La leche se espuma perfectamente, es sedosa y suave. El caballero que posee el café es encantador y hace el café con tanto cuidado.

Tropezé en el puesto de Espinacas y Agushi mientras disfrutaba de mi perezosa tarde de sábado y todo lo que puedo decir es que ahora soy un adicto. Tuve el arroz y la salsa de maní Jollof que era tan delicioso que volví por unos segundos! Estaré jugando de nuevo el sábado con un grupo a cuestas. ¡Buen trabajo chicos!

Rara vez como un vegetariano comer algo en lo que estoy realmente sin palabras de lo buena que es. Hasta hoy como sabor de Etiopía abrió mis ojos a una cocina que una vez no vamos lejos de como no tenía ni idea de que hubiera aún tienen opciones de comida vegetariana. Relación calidad-precio para la comida es inmensa. El servicio de atención al cliente es increíble! Volveremos 100%
